Dr. Batay-Csorba was excellent. He took the time to tell you what was going to be happening to you. Would stay and answer any of your questions.
I continued to like him more and more the more I seen him
Office staff was excellent
He takes excellent care of you after surgery.
He is very forward about the risks of surgery, but you feel very at ease with him.
Very good overall.
I didn't see him outside his office except right before surgery, they have another doctor that comes in and see you after surgery and for the post op visits.
I did see him for my 6 month check up and he was very happy with my progress.
I liked Dr. Batay-Csorba right away. I have read things about him that made me a little nervous about meeting him, but he was very friendly and I felt very comfortable with him. He is highly educated and experienced. He answered my questions without making me feel uncomfortable and several times, he added "I'm glad you asked that". My appointment was first thing in the am. I didn't have to wait long and the people at the front desk were very friendly, as well as the patient counselor. I am still considering the sugery, however, should I decide to proceed, I would feel very confident in Dr. B-C's care.
My first impression (which was at my consultation at the Bariatric Center in Ann Arbor MI.)of Dr. BC was that he was informative & knowledgeable. Everyone at the Bariatric Center was very warm and helpful. The only other time I saw him was immediately before my surgery, he came up to where I was laying and explained everything that could go wrong with the surgery, (I understand this is a must) I said I understood, and he was gone, & I haven't seen him since. I obviously, I think he is a very competent surgeon, because I came through it well, shhhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone, but I think he's a robot! Everyone at the hospital was very warm, caring, & helpful. I would normally prefer someone with some kind of bedside manner, but most important is the quality of their surgical skills.
so so. Iwas supposed to meet with a different one, but there was achange
Yes. He was great!
They did'nt really seem to know what was going on when I would call
He is the best!!
He likes you to follow up with him as needed
2 wk, 6wk,6 mos,1yr,2yr.
He let me know that there was a riskof death
Very good
both great
He appeared to be concerned and knowledgable and ready to answer any questions my husband or myself had. He was very business like and to the point. I prefer to have someone alittle more down to earth and with a sense of humor but all in all I thought that he was ok. He explained the procedure well. This was my first meeting with him for the initial consultation and I don't know if he will end up being my own surgeon. My insurance has to be approved yet and I have to have a follow up gastroscopy to check to make sure that my ulcer's are gone. You cannot have this surgery if you have ulcer's. Update....July 23, 2000. My gastro turned out normal. One more hurdle crossed.
Dr. Batay was very polite and soft-spoken. He explained the procedure thoroughly and had diagrams that were helpful to look at. You could definitely tell that he has given the explanation many, many times--it seemed like rote to him. I work in a hospital, so I am used to surgeons. Dr. Batay, for my first impression, was not overly friendly. I like to see a little more animation when I speak with a physician. However, after reading all the comments on this site, I was prepared regarding his demeanor. He stressed the aftercare as being one of the most important issues and also explained that he likes to follow up with his patients intensively, not just a routine post-op visit and that's it. He wants to see you annually after the first year and hear how you are doing. I am now eagerly awaiting insurance approval. Hope to have the procedure in late August or early September.
Admitting staff, nurse were wonderful, as was the patient representative! It was a great experience overall.
My first impression of my surgeon was that he was very knowledgeable and knew his stuff, but that he was just repeating the same lecture that he says over and over. That he was bored with what he had to say. Other than that he was ok. I don't feel that I have to bond with this man, I just want to know that he is good at what he does. His staff was ok, they just keet me waiting longer then I liked.
My first impression of Dr. Batay-Csorba was
that he was very experienced and professional.
That impression was actually two years ago
when my wife began her treatment program at
BTC. My impression has improved since then.
In my intial consultation this Jan. he
answered many questions that helped me
decide to have the surgery at BTC. I have
friends who had the surgery done laproscopicaly
by other surgeons and I was considering that,
but Dr. Batay-Csorba explained BTC's procedure
and I believe his experience and aftercare
keep the patient's well-being first. It is
a healthy life changing procedure, not an
easy for the patient, vanity type hype. His
caring approach to the surgery and the aftercare
assured me I chose the right surgeon.
The Ann Arbor office staff was pleasant, but
the nurses were cold and rude. The hospital
staff in Addison were very friendly and
informative.
One annoying thing was my file was
complete at the initial consultation but
it took BTC 10 days to get it out to the
insurer.

I recently had a bleeding problem 3 weeks post-op
and had to take an ambulance to the local hospital
for a transfusion and endoscopy repair. As soon
Dr. Batay-Csorba found out he was on the phone
to me to discuss the problem. His prompt attention
and caring were very impressive.
July 5, 2000
Once again Dr. Batay-Csorba showed his compassion
and professionalism. I picked up a campylo-
bactor food poisining while in mexico and
started to get seriously dehydrated. Dr. Batay-
Csorba returned my calls right away and had
me see a local specialist who got things
straightened out.
