My wife and I both liked DR. Batay-Csorba very much. He was a little mechanical in his approach to us..but I imagine he has done hundreds of these consultations. He was not rushed and took plenty of time to answer all of my or my wifes questions. He was very thourough on explaining the surgery to us and what the risks were. He also explained to us that this was just a tool (a powerful one) to help me lose and maintain weight loss. It would be up to me to follow the diet they reccomend and to get some exercise. Overall I give him a B+
Dr. Batay was easy to talk to and answered all of my questions. The office staff are quick and effecient to let you know what you need to do and what the prequalifications are. The BTC has a great aftercare program as far as it is described and they have a great support system going. They addressed all of the risks of the surgery. This facility is dedicated to this type of surgery alone. If you have any questions you can always feel free to call them even with what we might think are the silliest of questions. Wonderful people!!!
He was very patient. Answered all my questions 7 explained everything well.
I had problems after I went home... He was easily available in a crisis( or so I felt)
I had to be readmitted and he was there waiting for me when I arrived. I felt he really cared about me, and we worked together to solve the problem.
My first impression of Dr.BC was that he is very well educated. He was very thorough in his presention of the precedure. And he was a kind and gentle man!! A big plus in my book!! He answered all my questions very thoroughly and some even before I asked them.
He really did emphasize the aftercare program and that it was very important to my future health and well being. The patient counselor was FANTASTIC!! I really liked her, to give her some credit her name is Sharna!! She also answered all of our questions, even my husbands personal ones and she never even batted an eye!! He informed me of all the risks involved, most of which I already knew about. I think that the most important thing about a surgeon is, "Are they confident in what they do?" And I feel that Dr. BC was that! He looked us right square in the eye when he talked to us, that to me means alot. He had a very confident nature about him. My husband and I both really liked him.
The doctor was very informative, he was open for any questions I may have had but after all the research I did on the net I had no questions for him. He was a pleasant person who seems like he could do this in his sleep, I was not and am not concerned about his bedside mannors, I am not in this to be his buddy, friend,etc... my goal is to have this surgery and he will help me achieve this goal. The people at BTC are great I had no problems getting approved but I DID have everything I needed BEFORE my first consultation. I can help anyone who has any questions about getting approval for this procedure, just e-mail me. Happy to help.
I really liked Dr. Batay-CSorba, His name was hard to get used to but I got it now :). I was comforable with him and he was very helpful an informative and caring. He is very thorough on the information and patient care and what to do when you go home. He also checked in on me when I was in the hospital and made sure I was doing alright.
I would reccomend him to anyone, He was really wonderful to me.
My first impression of Dr. BC was great he was very knowledgable about the RNY procedure and took time to answer any questions myself or my husband had. I have only seen him once that was for my consultation in Ypsilanti. All the staff at BTC were very friendly and helpful. After only 3 weeks I recieved the approval letter from my insurance. Although I didn't need any extra tests. Dr. BC was great at explaining everything, including the mortality rate, in which my husband and I were very concerned with, but he reassured us that he takes every precaution and care to prevent this which put our mind at ease. I should have my surgery date within the next two weeks and now am becoming very anxious, which i am sure is normal. I have also spoken with Sue Ewing at BTC and she has been wonderful at answering any questions I have had, as has Kim Sloan in the insurance dept. I will update again after I get my date for sure and after my surgery is over. But from what I have seen Dr. BC and BTC is the best!!!! And I can't wait to begin my life over again. Good Luck to all!!!
Dr. Batay-Csorba is a good surgeon. I have seen his work on my friend I work with and that is why I had picked him. He is nice and gives you time to ask any questions, but he isn't the warm and fuzzy type. Joking and stuff like that is really not on his agenda. He is very competant and that is that main thing that was important to me. He did a great job with me and I appreciate his expertise and knowledge. I was dissappointed that I have not seen him since the hospital visits right after my surgery. Both follow-up visits I had a fill-in. Would have been nice for him to meet with me one of the times, but I guess his part in this is over now. My incision is healing great and I think over time it will shrink more and more. I still feel I was in good hands. Thanks Dr BC!
Just wanted to add a small update to this. I have not seen Dr BC since having my surgery. Every time I have gone down for an appointment I have seen another doctor. So, I would have to say that is the one complaint I have. I would have liked to thank him personally for giving me my life back. Who knows...maybe at my one year visit.
I first saw doc bc in Dec. he told me everything i need to know. seem very sure of himself. i felt good about haveing him for my surgeon. I am still waiting for insurance approvel It seems like the oiffice staff just dose not care much. i call once a week get the same answers. i am just waiting for a date now. I will be going to the forest hospital in ypsilanti. if any one know how i can speed things up please let me know
