My first meeting with Dr. Jones and his staff was excellent. He was very infomative and his staff was so friendly, I knew without a doubt that I had made the right choice. Being one of the only Dr.'s within in my area he is in great demand, it took me 3 months to get my first appointment, 3 weeks to get my approval letter and then my surgery was scheduled exactly 3 months to the day of my first appointment. He is very knowledgable and has done both the banding and the bypass, he stresses the need for exercise, mainly walking. I would and have recommended him to many of my co-workers. There are about 15-20 people in my office who have either had the surgery or have a date scheduled.

Dr. Jones is a wonderful man, very humorous and very intelligent. I was very impressed with his answers to all my questions and everyone elses. He was very thourough in discussing the procedure and the risks. Any questions that we had was answered to the fullest extent b4 he would ask for the next question. He has done almost 3000 surgeries and only 2 pts have died, which was a result of a pulomonary embolism. Which can occur from any surgery. He had a collegue with him that he was teaching the procedure to. As we walked into the office we handed the receptionist the insurance information and she handed us the information to fill out for approval. She was very nice and very helpful. She also handed us a two booklets outlining the surgery, risks, and alternate procedures. It also answered any questions that we might have. Dr. Jones follows his patients for 2 years post-op to assure that everything is okay. I really liked this bc so much can go wrong after the first year. He was so nice and very competent. I'm sure that his bedside manner will be just as compentent. I rate him as a perfect 10!!!

Consultation scheduled for 7/26/01.

Dr. Jones was very friendly and listened very well. I was very comfortable with him and his answers to my questions. He provided information pamphlets to have for future reference and also a couple of pages just for family and friends so they could understand. I was very impressed. It started out as a small group of five. I liked that because we benefited from each others questions. He explained the procedure first and then the risks. Then he addressed our questions and covered the health benefits of the procedure. Once the group session was over, he met with us individually to discuss our personal health issues, etc. I was very comfortable talking with him.

Had my first consultation with Dr. Jones' on 1/8/01 his staff is very nice and he is up front with the pros and cons of the surgery. My approval letter was composed and now I am waiting. Will update as I learn more. 2/15/01: the insurance company has received my letter and it will go before a medical review board will update more later. 3-12-01 got a call from dr. jones office IM APPROVED!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited i still don't know what to do except wait and get ready. Surgery is scheduled for 3-23-01 not much time just a little over a week. No hassles from the insurance company either. its been great will update more later.
Well im back and a week post op. i was not scared, i was not nervous i was just ready for it to be over. i checked into the hospital on thursday night and my surgery was about 7 am friday morning 3-23-01 i woke up in my room and don't remember a thing i was discharged on monday 3-26-01.and at this present time 1 week post op 20lbs gone for ever. yeah!!!!!!! will update more in about a week.
Ok so more than a week has gone by and I haven't updated like I should. I took a job and on this day 7/6/01 I have lost 90lbs and I am feeling wonderful. I will honestly try to keep this updated i know that it is important, because that is what frustrated me about people when I was doing my research. Again sorry about that!!!

ok, so it has been more than a week, but my keyboard has been on the fritz. it is now 4-13-01 and im 3 weeks post op and 45lbs down. walking everyday and eating just what im supposed to. have not been sick, although still alittle sore. clothes are becoming to large for me to wear and pants are dragging the ground. its great. will update more in a week or so, in 3 more weeks i can have hard solid food. let you know more later.

I found him to be very forthcoming about the surgical procedure. He readily talked about the risks involved. He is very easy to talk to. His office staff is also very helpful.

My first impression of Dr. Jones?--good grief, how to answer that.....Let me just say that it wasn't bad, nor was it exceptional. He just seems like a regular guy to me. He's down to earth, blunt, and I guess a little humorous. He is very intelligent and seems to know what he's doing. He's very up front about the risks involved in this surgery but also very positive about the results.

His office staff is very nice and helpful although I wish they had sent me my paperwork before I had actually gotten there because it took forever to fill out and I didn't know half the stuff off the top of my head.

My sister-in-law had him do her surgery back in December 2000, and she has lost 70+lbs already (it's now late April 2001). Everyone I have spoken to that has used him has been extremely happy. All of them have had 70% weight loss or better and have kept it off. My s-i-l's aunt had Dr. Jones do her surgery several years ago and she lost 100% of her weight and has kept it off ever since.

If I had to choose, I'd choose surgical competence over bedside manner any day, but fortunately for me I think I'm gonna get both in Dr. Jones. Let me put it this way, I feel comfortable enough with Dr. Jones to choose him to do my surgery even though I have to pay a portion of it out of pocket, over having one of the doctors in Little Rock do it who are paid in FULL by my insurance. If that doesn't say it, nothing will.

I liked his kind and friendly demeanor immediately.

His office staff was very nice and his nurse is excellent. She is very warm and personable. And she has a very reassuring and heartwarming smile and a friendly outgoing dispostion.

Now that I have had the surgery and speak with Dr. Jones office staff on a frequent basis. They seem always in a hurry to answer my question and get off the phone.

What I like least about Dr. Jones is: He feels very confident in what he does and knows. But, I had legitamate concerns and questions, that he didn't seem to deem as important. He sort of brushed them off as my problem. Like he had more important things to attend.

They have a two year follow up care.

His surgical competence is excellent he has written articles in a particular medical book. How he has worked to perfect this type of surgery. I felt I was in very capable hands.

He has a friendly bedside manner. But, he was in and out of the room pretty quickly. I would have like some more time and not feel I was being rushed.
