Thomas Batay-Csorba Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr Batay-Csorba that he very quite spoken and knew what he was talking about. Everybody at BTC was very nice and pleasant. I felt a little rushed but wasn't to bad over all.For future patients please have any questions you have written done so you don't forget them. He asks what your after care plans are. He was clear on the odds and the risks for this surgery. I would rate high. I have heard good things about him from a lady that has already had the surgery by him and is doing great. I was very comfortable about him being my doctor.

My consultation with Dr. Batay-Csorba was in early August of 2001. My impression was that he was very knowledgeble and had much experience with the WLS. He explained the procedure to me in simple terms that a lay person could understand. Although he seemed a bit rushed, I chalked that up to being a very long day or week for him, and was satisfied with the information.

1/30/02: I met with Dr. Batay-Csorba again as it has been almost six months since my initial consultation. I felt VERY comfortable with his rather quiet demeanor and soft, calming voice. And comfort with your surgeon makes the world of difference.

My impression of Dr Batay-Csorba is that he is a straightforward person. He explains, in full detail, the processes leading to, and following the surgery. I am very comfortable with Dr. Batay-Csorba, and am looking forward to my operation.

Dr. Batay-Csorba was very informative, he was very up front about the risks of surgery. The Drs. office staff and nurses were great. The patient rep came in to talk after the doctor interview, this was very helpful as she had this surgery. If there are any questions that a person may have the doctor and staff can answer them. Follow up care is very important. There is a nutrition program that should be followed. Btc have nutritionists that are there to help you, they will call to make sure that every thing is going all right. My overall experience has been a good one. I would rate Dr. Batay Csorba a 10.

Being an office manager of a medical practice I was extremely pleased with the staff at BTC. Everyone from the receptionist to the surgeon seemed to have this confidence about them that made me realize that I was at the right place. After having a consult with another surgeon I am so pleased that I did not just "settle" for him. My sister who was not fully supportive of this surgery at first went with me to BTC. After leaving the office she was almost as energized about the surgery as I was (almost). Dr BC was very much to the point while being very respectful of my questions and concerns. I have researched this procedure for 3 years but still had many questions. It was very informative to talk to an employee that had already had the surgery done. Becca- thanks alot. I hope that the rest of my journey with BTC will be as impressive.

I really liked Dr.Baty. He is very professional and straight forward, which I really appreciate in a Dr. I don't like a lot of chit chat when I am in a medical setting and he did not disappoint. I will meet with him again February 7th and I will update my impression again then. I want to say though that I researched the Dr's at BTC in Ypsilanti and he came highly qualified. The only complaint I received was from someone that needed the extra personal touch of a less professional tone, for reassurance reasons. But she did state that the nurses were very warm and friendly, and that satisfied her.

My initial consultation with Dr. Batay-Csorba was quite refreshing. I must admit that I already had my own preconceived notions regarding the doctor based on what others had said. But, he was very thorough and polite. The office staff was great, especially the patient representative, Kinsha. She had her surgery performed by the same doctor and was very pleasant. They both made feel comfortable and helped ease any fears I may have had.

The only negative thing about my initial consultation was that the nurse wasn't overly friendly, but she latter apologized and lightened up a bit.

I am probably Dr. Batay-Csorba\'s only patient from West Virginia. I have to drive 6 1/2 hours to see him, so he was very conscientious with my time. He was very structured with his presentation and informative. I felt very comfortable with him and feel like he is the best choice for me. Which is why I am driving such a long distance to have BTC do my surgery. The BTC in Columbus does not have a contract with BC/BS at this time. :-(

COMMENS AFTER CONSULTATION: Dr. Batay-Csorba (what a mouthful!:) was very matter-of-fact and obviously a highly intelligent man. He was not the most personable of people, but he had no qualms about sitting back and answering all of our questions. My parents, myself and my fiance were all there, so it was a full room, but he didn\'t mind at all and in fact was happy about it commenting on the need for a good support group. He emphasized the necessity of aftercare, pointing out that his two patients out of seventeen hundred operations, that died, died during the six weeks after surgery most likely because of not following the suggested procedures. It was a scary thought but one that was necessary to hear. He addressed the risks and outcomes of surgery and was overall very professional and courteous. I believe this will work out well. COMMENTS AFTER SURGERY: The next time I saw Dr. BC was the day of surgery, he just asked me some health questions and had me sign a release. I saw him a few times during my hospital stay. He is rather cold, so if you are looking for a surgeon who will talk to you and be warm and open, he may not be your guy. I was more concerned with surgical skill, which I felt very confident about. I\'ve only called once since surgery and he called me back himself twenty minutes later. I think my care was handled very well, and the rest of the staff at BTC are wonderful!

I have only met with Dr. Batay once so far. He was very soft spoken, yet matter of fact. I left feeling confident in his knowledge and experience.
I am more concerned with Surgical competence than bedside manner.

Post op Update: Surgery went great and Dr. Batay Csorba was wonderful. He had a great bedside manner. I would highly reccomend him to anyone.
