When I first met Dr. BC I was impressed on how the meeting went. He explained everything about the surgery to me, even the risks. I didn't even see him again till the day of my surgery and he had a way about him, not a bad way, very serious and straight foward......just the way I like it. I seen him again while in the hospital and don't remember much of that meeting because of drugs I was on. I did see him the last time on my 2 week check-up. He was so different that day. He came in the room and asked to see my incision. I figured I would mess with him so I said.....OK...I guess I will let ya!!. HE LAUGHED!! I was shocked, because he is usually all about business......which is good too. I did like to see that he had a "human" side though. I then told him he needs to learn how to cut a little straighter.....lol. HE LAUGHED AGAIN!!! WOW....2 times in one visit! In all I really like him. He is a great surgeon!

My first impression of Dr. Batay-Csorba is that he wasn't nearly as foreign as his name appeared. I was afraid that I would have a hard time understanding his speech. Not in the least!! He was very soft spoken, direct and to the point. He didnt strike me as someone to ramble on, but rather said what he needed to say, and not much more. He was very pleasant and I left having faith in his ability to do the procedure with not any problems. His office staff were very nice with the exception of his nurse, Beverly. She had the hardest time receiving 4 different faxes from my sleep study. I verified the fax number each time and finally gave up and UPS'd the records to her. I have a feeling that if I looked in my files, there would be several copies of my test results. This whole process took a week.
Once she finally had the paperwork, she became much nicer and not so snippy. She then told me that I had to wait for the Dr. to look over my file and it would be one more week before going to scheduling. However, she called me back the next day, and said that she ok'd it herself and I would hear from scheduling in a day or two. I dont know how she did it, but she really came around.

I had really done a lot of homework before going to my first appointment with Dr. B-C. I have also spoken to two of my co-workers who have had the surgery, and they have been WONDERFUL in answering any questions I have had. Dr. B-C was very professional and upfront about the pros adn cons of this procedure and stressed the importance of post-op care. I asked about the death rate which is 1/700 at the BTC in Ypsalanti and most deaths are due to patients not following post-op instructions and a lot of other medical concerns besides the obesity. He seems to have a great reputation as an excellent surgeon which is what I am most concerned about. I am excited and nervous about the procedure but am giving it a go! Overall 8 out of 10 rating, with surgical competence being the most important factor!

I had my initial consultation on 6/11/02. I was totally pleased with the whole process. When I met Dr. Batay-Csorba I was truly impressed. He was compassionate and caring. He thoroughly explained the procedure and showed me pictures. He not only told me what to expect before the surgery but also during the surgery and most importantly, after the surgery. When he told me I met the requirements to have the surgery I felt a sigh of relief. My biggest concern was having a baby after the surgery. He was honest and told me to delay for about 2 years in order to minimize potential complications. What is more, he even called my home to offer some suggestions that I could do to improve my current health status and that really made me feel encouraged. I felt really confident with him and if I'm approved for the surgery, I don't think I could have a better surgeon!!!

well, my first impression of him was ok, because he wasn't talking as fast as the nurse was. the staff was nice but i was expecting so much more. don't get me wrong cause they were all so nice. they answered all my questions. and even gave me some too. with this doctor you should know that he is a no nonsence type of guy at least when it comes to this, which is a good thing because you knwo he is going to do his job. and they have the councolors for the emotional types. like me. no he did address the risks, and it was helpful, i thought it was funny to see him with his pin that turns into a pointer. i think that might be his favorite toy. just remember to bring as many questions as you can. it helps them too.

OK. I haven't met with Dr. Krause yet but i look forward to doing so. Actually, I have an appointment to meet with him on April 15, 2002. I really can't wait. Well, yes I can. But, from what i've heard, he's a great Dr. I'll have to see for myself. I'll keep everyone posted

I've decided not to go with Dr Krause. I'm now gonna go to BTC. I don't know what surgeon I'll meet with. When I find out, i'll definitely let ya know.

When I first met Dr. BC, it was such a short meeting, I really did not form an opinion either way about him. He was very upfront and explained everything very well. I asked a couple of questions about risks and he answered all of them straightforward and honestly.

When I went in for surgery I liked that Dr. BC always had a smile on his face and was very encouraging and positive. He always had something nice to say.

Five days post-op and I'm feeling great. I'm sure some of that credit goes to his talent as a surgeon.

I would rate him an A.

For what he lacks in bedside manner he more than makes up for in technical skill.... I am forever greatful to the man for his commitment to this type of surgery and to helping people like me ...

I have never had surgery before, so I do not have experience with any other surgeon to compare him to. He is not the type of doctor that comes in your room and sits there and talks about the weather with you. The tests that I had to have before the surgery could be scheduled took more than 6 months to get them all completed, so I had to go up twice for a consultation with him. At the second visit, he really removed any feelings I had about saying forget it. He really put me at ease. I was petrified right up until they knocked me out for the surgery, but the second visit really helped me. Most people only see him at the consultation, then at the surgery, so I guess I was lucky to seem to get to know him a little bit better before letting him cut on me. I feel like he is a very good doctor and surgeon. I don't think I would be able to come up with a negative thing to say about him if I had to.I fondly refer to him as my "Slice and Dicer." I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is going to be putting their life in the hands of a surgeon.
