Dr. Rumbaut is excellent. I have had two procedures from him. He has been doing lap band surgeries for at least 18 years and also has the lap band himself. I would recommend him for any bariatric surgery.

In the hospital my only complaint was the nurses spoke very little English . We had been told they did but why should they we are in Mexico!!!!

Dr. Rumbaut always emphasized after care!!! He was thorough and kind.

SOmetimes it was difficult to get through to Dr Rumbout.

Dr. Rumbaut was awesome. Very caring and knowledgeable. He was pretty busy cause he had a bunch of cases and then had a seminar to give in the states later that week but was still really attentive.
He is forthright and honest. very to the point and I felt like I could ask him anything immediatley. He made my hubby feel good about surgery cause he talked to both of us instead of just me all the time. he showed us the band and everything and let us touch it and all that. He was really helpful and knowing he has a band is nice.
Emphasis is on the aftercare and it was nice hearing a different point of view than just my doctors in seattle. To know that lightening wouldn't strike if I drank skim ilk was nice.
I would rate him a 10 out of 10 in all aspects of surgery!

Friendly, Kind, Patient, Knowledgable, Confident team. Dr. Rumbaut was exceptional as making me feel confident in the decission I was making.
The office is modern, clean and the staff is professional.
I would give him and his support staff a 10 - I have never recieved as good of care in a Doctors office or Hospital in the US.

I was extremely pleased with Dr. Rumbaut and his staff from the very beginning. Doralisa is his patient co-ordinator and she couldn't have been more helpful. Then after I schedule my surgery I got a call from Dr. Rumbaut personally to make sure I didn't have any additional questions for him. Doralisa kept in contact with me from the time I first asked her questions to when I was at the hotel ready for my surgery. She even had a basket sent to the hotel full of things I could eat post op.

Dr. Rumbaut gives good guidlines for how you should ease back into solid foods after surgery, and things like that. He gave me a letter to give my General Physician to put in my medical records with a brief summary of the surgery, and the information on which band was used. I was referred to Dr. Kuri in Tijuana for my fills because it is closer to me than flying back to Monterrey. He also gave me the name of a surgeon in San Jose, but TJ was still closer for me.

I really couldn't have asked for anything more from Dr. Rumbaut and his staff. They all came to see me after I'd woken up to check out my incisions and make sure I was doing ok. He's very experienced, and a really really great guy. I guess the only thing that I could have hoped for was a larger list of surgeons in my area that do aftercare.

I was very impressed with my initial seminar with Dr. Fox. It was very informative. I decided to go to Mexico to see Dr. Roberto Rumbaut for my surgery and I also decided to have the adjustable lap band. When I arrived in Mexico there was a driver waiting for me. I went to the hotel where the surgeon booked my stay. The hotel is nice and accommodating. There was no refrigerator and the staff brought me one for my room. The hotel had a pool, gym, business center with internet access, continental breakfast and snacks. The mall was right behind the hotel, very convenient. When I first went to Dr. Rumbaut's office I was nervous. The Dr. is very pleasant and understanding. He showed me that he actually had the same adjustable band himself! That calmed me a little bit that if it was good enough for him it would be good enough for me. The hospital was clean and very nice. I am over all very pleased that I went to him for my surgery and If I had to do it again I would go to him. It was scary to go to another country to have a surgery done by a doctor I had never met before but I am glad I did and I highly recommend him for the adjustable lap band procedure.

I loved Dr. Rumbaut. I thought that he was a class act. I would go to him all over again. His staff made my husband and myself feel very comfortable and took really good care of us.

I am having surgery in late November 2004. I have had very good communication with the ILOST staff here in the states, who are coordinating services in Monterrey. They referred me to Dr. Michael Todd's office in Anchorage for the followup care, i.e., "fills" for the band. I spoke with Dr. Todd's staff already and they were very polite and helpful. I am SO ready.

Dr. Rumbaut was very personable and patient.

Impression hasn't changed.

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The thing I like least... He is too far away for me to be able to afford to have my adjustments done by him.

Dr. Rumbaut and his staff are very helpful, all physicans are fluent in english, however the staff at the hospital are not. The language barrier really wasn't too much of a problem, Dr. Rumbauts office gives you a sheet of questions and requests in english w/ spanish translation, you just point to what you want to ask.

Aftercare wasn't stressed too much, I guess that is the one thing that I would like to have had more of.

I was contactd a couple of times by an aftercare specialist, but havn't been contacted for several months.

The doctor was very upfront about the risks, both during converstations prior to surgery and after.

I would give Dr. Rumbaut and his staff a 7 out of 10. If more after care was available I would have given them a 10.

Both are great!

What was your first impression of him/her?

Very professional, made me feel at ease almost instantly. He himself is a Lap-band patient.

How did your impression change over time?

It didn't

How would you describe his/her office staff?

helpful, knowledgeable, and very supportive

What did you like least about him/her?

Can't say there was anything..except he wouldn't let me go home same day of surgery *smile*

What should future patients know about
him/her?

I think you will love him...

How much does he/she emphasize aftercare?

ALOT...preaches after care and supplements the whole time your there.

Does he/she have a structured aftercare program?

Since he is out of country for me, i can not say much about his after care. This Dr though is very very caring and even after released from the hospital he comes to your hotel room daily to check on you.Him and his assoc also both give you pager and cell phone numbers to get ahold of them anytime day or night during your stay in Mexico.

How did he/she address the risks of surgery?

With Videos and a lengthy pre-op appointment. They were fully explained to me, but i was at a point in my life where i wanted them to give me ..either my life back, ...or death i didn't care which.

How would you rate him/her overall?

EXCELLENT

Which is better, surgical competence, bedside
manner, or both great?

Both were Excellent

If i had anything negative to say about my whole expierience, i would have to say it was trying to communicate with the nurses and hospital staff since i know no Spanish. Was paticularly bad when i had problems with my IV and they could not understand what i was telling them.

He is a fantastic Surgeon, I've never recieved care that good from any Doctor or hospital here in the United States. They were wonderful.

They gave me their cell phone numbers and came to the hotel every night I was there to check on me.

The hospital staff were awesome too, they were there for everything I needed.

I still email Dr. Rumbaut with questions and I usually get an answer that evening.

The only negative thing was the language barrier, the doctors spoke english, thank god but the hospital and hotel staff did not.
