Roberto A. Rumbaut Bariatric Surgeon

I can only speak highly of Dr. Roberto Rumbaut and his staff. I had a very pleasant experience with he and his staff. My surgery date was on March 13, 2001. He was a very caring and polite Doctor. I can't emphasize enough that my experience was great. I would also like to mention that I had my pre-op testing by Dr. Gonzalez who was as polite and kind. He was very informative of my test pre-op. I can say that I was treated better in Monterrey, Mexcio than I have ever been in the United states. The Hospital where the procedure is done is top-notch. The nurses, on up to the anethesiologist was a better experience than in the States. I would rather have care in Monterrey any day than in the United States. My overall rating of the whole procedure was well above a ten. Dr. Rumbaut had both surgical competence, bedside manner and aftercare. These doctors really do care. I have already lost 10 pounds since my surgery on March 13, 2001. I feel great, have no bad experience or any side effects.
Everythings has worked out tremendously. I eat exactly like Dr. Rumbaut instructed me, I have already started walking. The day after the surgery, I didn't even feel as though I had had surgery. I rate it all a perfect 10.

He was warm, attentive and has had the surgery himself. I had a long list of questions and he answered everyone directly and fully.
His office staff was helpful and has patient care rep DoraLisa Martinez made all my hotel arrangements and was available via email.
Dr. Rumbaut responded by email within 48 hours to every question I had pre and post surgery.
He visited me after the surgery each day I was in the hospital and both days I was at the hotel after surgery.

I had my surgery at San Jose Hospital in Monterry Mexico. It was modern; I had a private room and an resident assigned to me around the clock
The nurses were professional and extremely helpful.
As a person of size I can honestly say I have rarely if ever received as good of care in the States as I did in Monterrey.

Dr. Rumbaut covered all aspects of aftercare. Introduced me to other patients and was and is available to me via email and cellphone.

I had very little bruising after the laprascopic procedure. I usually bruise a fair amount.
He asked me what steps I had taken to prepare for the surgery and was very intrested in my use of aloes and arnica montana. He has a very
open mind as far as supportive medicine is concerned.
A week after surgery I had two days of shoulder pain. This is not unusual in lap surgery because of the gas used to expand the belly.

All and all it was a pleasent experience and I would recomend him to anyone.

I was refered to Dr. Rumbaut by Dr.Fox In Tacoma Wa. I will not meet Dr. Rumbaut till the day before my surgery. I am in contact with quite a few people who have had him place there bands. Everybody liked him. He himself has a band in place.

I will be going to Dr.Fox for my aftercare. It seems he has a strict aftercare, which I think is good. I have heard that Dr.fox's patients have the best results because of the aftercare.

Really takes the time necessary to answer all questions. I took extra comfort in the fact that he had the surgery done him self. I feel he really knows where your coming from and has truly experienced all that you will. He is good about answering any questions you might have no matter how small. I must admitt before going to Mexico I was concerned about what the hospital would be like. Rest assure he works out of a top notch facility. I think Dr. Rumbaut has a great bedside manner. If your looking for a surgeon to preform this surgery. I highly reccommend Dr. Rumbaut. I rate him a perfect 10!

My overall impression of Dr. Rumbaut was that he was great. He has an adjustable band also so it was even more comforting. He was and is very gentle and caring. His staff was great also. Just because he is located in Mexico he is no different than surgeons in the US if anything he was much more comforting and courteous than most US surgeons. Most of my aftercare was structured by Dr. Fox in Tacoma, Wa. The risks of the surgery were explained to me quite well. I would rate Dr. Rumbaut a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, he was great. These are of course my own feelings and impressions.

I was so pleased with Dr. Rumbaut he was very personable and easy to talk with. He had the Lap Band procedure done on himself so he is a wealth of information, and he believes in his product so much that he had it for himself. The staff that do your preop testing for Dr. Rumbaut were also top notch.

Caring, considerate, attentive.
Highly recommend this surgeon to anyone. My care in Mexico was first rate, better than some hospitals here in the US. My doctor was very competent and had an endearing bedside manner.

I found him very personable and felt comfortable and relaxed in his presence. He has a warm and charming personality. He explained all aspects of the surgery and assured me that he truely knew what his patients would experience because he had had the same surgery himself. There was some communication problems with his staff and some of the hospital staff. I do not speak Spanish and had to ask for someone to interpret for me. Dr. Rumbaut speaks fluent English. Prior to my surgery he gave me paperwork regarding aftercare and went over them with me. He stopped in on me after surgery and visited my hospital room the next morning prior to my discharge. The next evening he stopped by the hotel to make sure I was doing ok. His surgical competence and bedside manners are excellent. he was very profesional and gave me a lot of information about differant types of obesity surgerys.His office staff was nice not a lot to say about it because I did not see them much I spoke with his patient advocate by e-mail and she was very helpful in making the arrangments to go to Monterrey.Now I am having trouble gitting him to send me a medical report of my surgrery for my primary care Dr. can have it for my medical file here.I have spoke with him several times and he says he will send it but I never git it.The only risk we talked about was leakage thru the staples,and blood clots.I believe he is an good Dr. but the team of Dr's that work with him make for an excelant choise,and I would do it again it a heart beat!!!

Dr. Rumbaut has done over 1,000 of these Operations and the majority of these people are from the states. He speaks around the world on WLS to other surgeons and teaches in a college in Mexico.
