At first his straight forwardness seemed kinda cold and technical. But once i met him one on one he was much warmer and more personal.

His staff is WONDERFUL!! everyone there is so eager to help you and answer questions.

He didnt really prepare me for the pain, he said "slight discomfort". Also, he has really limited office hours.

He really does stress excersise and diet, he checks up on activity when you go for your post surgery office visit. He also recommends joining the support groups.

He doesnt really have a strict or superstructured aftercare program. He does work with a nutrionalist that he wants his patients to work closely with.

He was very technical about everything, he addressed everyone's questions and concerns. He did state the risks and talked about the people that didnt make it through the surgery. He also showed us how his technique worked and how it changed over the years.

Sugical competence is much more his thing! The entire time i was in the hospital, i saw the other partner (his son who is the plastic surgeon). Dr. R. Capella didnt stop by until the last day to sign me out.

I first met Dr. Capella at his informational seminar in his Ramsey office. He was professional and made me feel reassured. His knowledge and straight forward manner made me feel comfortable. Although the seminar was standing room only he did take the time to address all questions.

His office staff was excellent. Coming from the medical field I know how hard it is to handle patients and his staff was both professinal and kind. My precertification process was painless thanks to his office staff. I was called to confirm that I was entering the precertification process and 5 days later I was approved by my insurance. Thats what I call efficiency. Every telephone conversation has been pleasant and informative. I would recommend Dr. Capella to all.

My impression of Dr. Capella was that he's kind and a very knowledgeable and competent surgeon. The information night was very informative and Dr. Capella went over every aspect of the surgery and after care. There was time for everyone to ask questions and Dr. Capella was more then happy to answer any question. The office staff was very nice, but it's hard to get them on the phone. Although, once you do get someone on the phone they are helpful.

Dr. Capella had a picture showing the stomach and the intestines and how

like a cow I'll have more than 1, I'll have 2. I'll only be using 1.</font></b></span></td>

My first impression of Dr Capella was fairly positive. I had seen the show in which he was prominently featured on one of those evening magazine shows (Datelin eg). I attended a seminar in his Ramsey office and was impressed enough to schedule an appointment with him. His office staff was overworked ( I think that the TV show overwhelmed them with patients) but helpful. I got the impression that Dr Capella was competent but busy. He explained the procedure in a rather generic fashion, but I, like I am sure most others, researched the procedure. The emphasis on after care I thought was lacking. I had one scheduled post op visit at his office. There was never any mention of support groups or dietary counseling. The risks of surgery were addressed via a pre-surgical type of "test" given on the initial visit. It did cover the risks, benefits and alternatives adequately. Overall, I would rate Dr Capella a good and caring surgeon. I have had some complications that have unfortunately remained unresolved, but he did address them. I believe that Dr Capella is caring man and has devoted his life to helping those of us with a problem that has put us in the social closet. I would recommend Dr Capella to anyone wishing to consider WLS as an option in their life

Dr. Capella is very intelligent, informed, and will answer any questions you have. He is very caring. My impression has stayed the same. I am glad I chose him as my surgeon. His office staff is top notch. They are a very busy group, so it is understandable that sometimes you have to wait on hold for a reply. Melba is a gas. So is the nutritionist. Dr. C. emphasised that if I had any questions or problems after surgery to immediately contact the office. They gave me paperwork concerning diet etc. The office offers group meetings a few times a month. I would rate him as a great person, surgeon.

Dr. Rafael Capella is very professional and caring.

His office staff is WONDERFUL when you can get in touch with them. Voice mail messages do not seem to be returned. Turnover in staff R.N.'s seem to be high (three since the end of October 2003).

I did a lot of research in my quest for the right surgeon. I went to a lot of support groups, seminars and really reasearched the surgery. Dr. Capella does the type of surgery I feel is the best for me, the Open RNY with a vertical band. Dr. Capella was the last surgeon I went to see speak. The room was really cramped and warm, so get there early or you will not get a place to sit. I thought Dr. Capella had a sense of humor, was very intelligent, polite, respectful, and understanding. I was happy that I knew the answer to most of the questions everyone was asking, because that meant I had done my research. I got a consult appointment with him right away. I really felt comfortable in his office, which is absolutley crazy! I don't know how those girls stay so polite and helpful, but I had a good experience with them. I spent about 2 1/2 hours. I was weighed than waited, I talked to the nurse, then waited, I saw Dr. C and waited them I saw the financial manager (Toby ). I have to say, I had no problem waiting AT ALL, because the room is filled with fellow patients who are so eager to share their stories that this experience in itself is quite the education. In fact I was sorry to have to leave there, and I really bonded with a few people. I wouldn't mind going back and just sit in the reception area and talk to patient's. The experience I had with Dr. Capella in the consultation was that he was very serious and busy. I would rate my experience at my first and only appointment an 8. Whenever I have questions his office is always quick and eager to help.

Dr. Capella seem quiet at first, but when I saw the time and patience he spends answering my questions and concerns and was in no hurry, that impress me greatly.

Office staff was ok, very professional, moving things along, they have a pretty good system and the office is always full and busy so is helpful to know they are organized. Phone follow-ups are also important, Toby is great for that.

Didn't like that I had to wait so long for the consultation, but then after my consultation came, I see why.

He is very informative, wants you to know what you are getting into. He emphasizes aftercare very much. Knowledge is key.

He wants to see his patience soon after then in a few months then annually.

He also mentioned the risk and went over them very thoroughly.

He seem to know what he is talking about.

I am hoping that his surgical competence is as good as his bedside manner. Overall, I have faith that Dr. Capella will be very much successful with my surgery in February, 2004

I have completed the seminar as well as my consultation appointment with Dr. Capella. His office is very organized and very helpful. Dr. Capella is a really nice and caring doctor thus far. I'll check back again as the surgery date comes closer.
