my first impression of him was good. I went for my consult and was nervous... he took me when no other surgeon at hackensack hospital would. I was declined by 2 surgeons for a lap roux-n-y. he called me back immediately and insisted he could help while the other 2 surgeons considered me to be very high risk and were not optimistic about my prognosis with a bmi of 61. I have so many co-morbidities that it is unreal. the staff were all open hearted, compassionate and accomidating. I am terrifed of the open procedure, but dr raphael is confident I will do well. they scheduled my surgery 16 days due to a cancellation. I am testing every thing. I need a nutritionist if anyone's got an idea.

Dr. Capella is a very warm and caring DR.
I was very surprised when he walked into the admission room at 6:30 am on the day of surgery. Him taking the time to come in and see me that cold February morning just made me feel relaxed and at eased right before the surgery. The office staff is very helpful and knowlegable. If I had to rate Dr. Capella I would give him a 10 with no reservation!

My first impression was one of competence and compassion. I also felt that while Dr. Capella will help me he will also not "sugar coat" (bad choice of words) what I need to hear. My Impression has not changed since I first met him.
The office staff has been friendly and nice.
I had surgery on 1/27/05 and I have to say Dr. Capella put me at ease when he came to see me the morning of surgery. He came to see me again the morning after surgery and even joked with me that I wouldn't have a scar making me smile even while laying there. While all doctors have associates and many of them will do rounds and even discharge you from the hospital Dr. Capella took the time to call me on the day of discharge to talk with me, ask me questions and explain what would be happening in regards to discharge. This personal touch has endeared him to me forever as that was the time I needed him most (before venturing into the real world without someone taking care of me)
The Nursing staff at the office are amazing they have answered my questions and called me back quickly when I called.

I am an RN. I went to Dr. Capella's orientation seminar with my youngest brother to get enough information to talk him out of surgery. Dr. Capella won me over as he spoke and explained the procedure. I signed up for surgery myself on that very evening.

I always feel at home and cared for when I visit Dr. Capella's Office. Everyone is pleasant, efficient, and most helpful.

I have absolutely no complaints. I always recommend Dr. Capella to anyone in need of his care. Every referral has thanked me for the introduction.

There is a great emphasis on aftercare. Aftercare is provided through his office, but he does require you to keep your personal physician aware and informed.

General and patient specific surgical risks are identified and addressed. I was not in the best of health when I was 190 pounds heavier. Dr. Capella addressed all issues in preparing me for surgery.

I give Dr. Capella the highest possible rating in all areas. He instilled the confidence in me to proceed, provided the best possible preparation and procedure, and has been supportive and encouraging following the procedure.

I have also seen Dr. Capella's son, Dr. Joseph Capella, regarding plastic surgery with great success. He has taken my comfort level and feeling of well-being to an even greater level.

I am writing this as I approach my 3 year post-op anniversary. I feel great, I exercise regularly, I can do so many things that I could not do before the procedures. Life is good!

Thank you Dr. Rafael Capella and Dr. Joseph Capella!

I am very grateful to both Dr. Capellas. They are father and son. They are sent from heaven above. I would only recomend them. The entire journey from beginning until now has been wonderful. The office staff are wonderful, always a smile. And they answer any questions. Dr. Capella takes pride in his work. Both physicians came to visit me daily after my surgery and it was Memorial Day weekend. They even asked if I needed to stay one more day. I researched this surgery for 3 years and had 3 consultations. The difference was incredible, I went to the information seminar and learned everything. The aftercare program is great. Visits to the office to see the surgeons and to see the nutritionist. I rate this team a 10!! Both surgeons treat you like you were their own family members!

My first impression of Dr. Rafael Capella was that of a competent, knowledgeable surgeon who genuinely cares about the health and well being of his patients. As my date for surgery draws closer, I know that I could not have chosen a finer man than Dr. Capella for this procedure. He is very forthright and up front about the benefits as well as the risks involved in weight loss surgery. In addition to being one of the "pioneers" of this type of operation, the technique that he employs helps reduce the amount of stretching the pouch goes through. His office and staff are extremely helpful and courteous as well. I am looking forward to a very successful surgery with Dr. Capella!

Very Nice and Experienced and knowledgable
Office has been very pleasant and helpful so far. I have come to find out he is the best in his field. He has many years experience and is a kind and gentle man. Now that I have had surgery I can say He is a master at his craft. I was very concerned with the recovery room/post op experience. I thought I would wake up with all kinds of drains and tubes and staples, but there was none of that. He performs this surgery in the most updated and efficent fashion, making the patient as comfortable as possible. Using general anesthesia, dermabond (sugical adhesive) instead of staples or sutures (externally). These things make the recovery process much faster. I know alot of people who have had this surgery. I also work in the health insurance industry and have seen many complications. I would strongly recommend Dr.Capella to anyone in the NJ area who wants this surgery.

I felt very comfortable with him. I look at him like a father figure because he made me feel that way. He really cares!

No change.

If they don't remember you, they can be short at times. It's a very busy office!

Nothing. Well, he forgot who I was once too. Again, his office is packed all the time and I don't expect him to remember what everyone looks like years after surgery! I changed ALOT! I forgave him after he gave me a big hug when he found out it was me!

Meet him. I'm sure you'll love him! There's a feeling a trust that can not be beat!

Aftercare is THE MOST important of all and let's you know it! He even holds free meetings for all of this past, present and future patients!

He as very clear about the surgery. He even has a pull down "map like" sheet behind his desk that shows the surgery in detail.

10+++++++

Both are great and he has it pegged!

My first impression of him was I was really comfortable with him. He really knew what he was doing.

It didn't

His office staff was very nice and professional

Future patients should should know that is really good at what he does.

he emphasized it a lot

yes he does

he said there is a risk with any kind of surgery. He made feel good about doing it though.

I would give him the highest rating you could give someone.

Dr. capella seems like a very kind and caring person. However, I really haven't had a lot of contact with him. Most of my contact has been w/ the nurses and staff and so far, I have so impressed. There is nothing worse than a poorly run doctors office. such a turn off! Everyone there has been wonderful. I am v.excited and confident that Dr. C w/ bring me through this surgery without a hitch(hopefully).I will add to my thoughts on aftercare and bedside manner after I have the facts. Surgery date: Oct.14, 2004!
