At first, I was happy to hear someone tell me that the kind of weight I was carrying cannot be be permanently loss without surgery. It was great news because I had tried so many different methods. He was warm, caring and compassionate. I call him my saviour because he literally saved my life both physically and mentally. My impression of him have not changed and since then I have had absolutely no complications. I have recommended 3 others to him including my 13 year old daughter who was operated on Dec 4th. She is doing exceptionally well. He is the only doctor I would have do the surgery for her.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH DR. CAPELLA WAS WONDERFUL.HIS STAFF IS EXCELLENT HELPFUL AND THOUGHTFUL. WHENEVER I HAD A QUESTION OR EXPERIENCED A SYMPTOM HE CALLED ME IMMEDIATELY PERSONALLY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS OR JUST REASSURE ME WHAT I WAS FEELING WAS NORMAL OR WHAT CHANGES I SHOULD MAKE. DR. CAPELLA HAS INFORMATIONAL SEMINARS BEFORE SURGERY AND SUPPORT GROUPS AFTER AND IN THE PROCESS OF SETTING UP SUPPORT GROUPS IN THE TRI-STATE AREA SO PEOPLE DONT HAVE TO TRAVEL TO NEW JERSEY. DR. CAPELLA INFORMS YOU ALLTHE RISK INVOLVED HE EVEN TELLS YOU OF HIS DEATH RATE WHICH IS 2 IN 2100. I WOULD RATE DR. CAPELLA ON A SCALE OF 1 - 10 A 10+ DR. CAPELLA IS GREAT HIS SON ALSO ACCOMPANIES HIM WITH THE SURGERY WHO IS A BOARD CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON.

Caring and Sincere, put me at ease. He and his staff have been great so far.. very helpful. My good friend went to him for the same surgery and she is doing well. I was very impressed with his orientation.

I met with Dr. Capella on September 6th and had a cursory examination. He spent time going over my medical history and what to do prior to surgery in terms of my medications. He answered any remaining questions I had satisfactorily. Then I met with one of his staff who will be submitting the request to my insurance company. My surgery is scheduled for October 23rd!

I liked him a lot, he was very confident and I like the fact that he has performed the surgery over 2000 times.

Went to informational session which is mandatory prior to setting an appt. I have been investigating syrgery for 1 1/2 yrs, so I had questions and got them appropriately answered. Made an appt. following meeting and saw MD this week. Vist was efficient, Dr.C answered all my questions, did physical, then I met with staff to discuss all pre-op procedures, post-op eating issues, and post-op visits. I have BC/BS and am awaiting their okay. Surg. on 10/24/00 and I am anxious. I don't take this lightly and am aware of poossible complications. I'll be working out(as much as possible) to try and be in the best shape for the surgery. There is a monthly group meeting which I plan to attend. Dr. C has pts. take a written exam which allows them to know if you are fully informed. I have chosen Dr. C because of his experience with this procedure.

Dr. Capella seems very warm and caring. I felt very much at ease with him. I fully trust him. He has done well over 2,000 of these surgeries. His office staff was very nice and helpful.

to meet him during my new patient consult he was
the same. Very calming type of person. His staff
is very nice and professional. I was referred to him
by a friend who had nothing but nice things to say
about him and so far she was right. The only bad thing
I can say is that I was at his office for 3 hrs.
He really does spend the time that patients a requesting
of him.

I absolutedly liked this doctor upon sight. When I went in for my appointment, I had done a lot of research and had very few questions. However, I liked his demeanor very much. He has a very down to earth attitude and makes you feel at home. Jackie, the secretary who handles the insurance process, is very professional and pleasant. I went for my appointment on May 5, and was approved on May 17. Can't ask for more. My sugery is scheduled for June 12. I will keep you posted.

Dr. Capella's reputation preceeded my meeting him. I was well aware of his excellence and experience with the Vertical Banding and gastric bypass surgery he performs at Hackensack Medical Center in Northern New Jersey. His staff is well trained and knows about the surgery he performs. He is a kind man and a qualified surgeon as is his son, who assists him and does the plastic surgery work for the practice. Patients actually take a written test which makes sure that they are aware of the procedure, its risks and follow-up aftercare. There is a support group which meets regularly. So far, I rate him as being one of the best in the country for this procedure with excellent success rates and extremely low complication rates. He performs 7 procedures a week on Mondays. I am now 4 days post op and have a thin scar without any visible stitches (all subcuticular) and will have excellent cosmetic results soon. I lost 18 pounds just lying around the hospital. Dr. Capella and his son visited me daily and gave me instructions. I will see them in one month
