My surgeon was great. He had a wonderful sense of humor and knew exactly what he was doing when it came to the surgery. I liked him from the get-go. He does ephasize aftercare which is good. He really cares about helping people. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. He did a wonderful job.

I have only met him once in a group consultation, but have two friends that have been through the procedure, and speak very highly of him.

From my one meeting, I feel he is very competent, and concerned about the well being of his patients.

I am 7 mos post op now. I have to say that Dr. Fabito is a wonderful surgeon. I met him for the first time in my group appointment during my pre-op testing. He answered everyones questions thouroghly and provided alot of information. He has been doing WLS for MANY years, and actually goes to other hospitals around the country to teach the RNY procedure to other surgeons. He also does vascular surgery so WLS is not his only practice. He is a funny man, loves a good joke. That alone is very rare for anyone with the letters MD following their name. I felt very comfortable talking with him. He is a busy man with an even busier office. Poor Ida, she must really know stress management. I have since been back for my one week appointment and again for my 6 month appointment. Both times I was in and out of his office within an hour. Again very rare in this field. I have had other complications with my galbladder and a suspected ulcer. He has been there for both situations, and assisted as he could. I had originally chosen Dr. Yates for my surgery, and am so happy that it didnt work out that way. I dont think I could have chosen a better surgeon.
8/10/01 Well, I have to say that I really like Ida at Dr. Fabitos office all ready. She has called me on several occasions just to update me on what they are doing. I cant believe it. With all the troubles that I had at dr yates office, I get this!!!! WOW!!!

DR. FABITIO WAS WONDERFUL TO ME BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE SURGERY. I HAVE NOTHING BUT PRAISE FOR THE STAFF AT HIS OFFICE AND AT SOUTHPOINTE HOSPITAL, WHERE I WAS OPERATED ON. THE EXPERIENCE WAS NOT A HASSLE- RATHER, ALL THOSE INVOLVED DID THEIR JOBS WITH PROFESSIONALISM AND COMPASSION, AND THE PROCESS WENT VERY SMOOTHLY. IT WAS BASICALLY NO WORK FOR ME-ALL I HAD TO DO WAS SHOW UP!

My first impression of Dr. Fabito was that he is a very intelligent, well informed and studied individual. That impression hasn't changed. Ida is the only person from his office that I have dealt with and she is a godsend. She really seems to care about how you are doing in the process of approval. I didn't like the group consultation approach, but it did save me money. And, the other people had questions that I hadn't thought about yet, so it wasn't so bad after all. He is very knowledgeable of the subject, and is confident in his work. He emphasizes aftercare profoundly. He encourages meetings with a dietician, counselor, whatever help you might need. Yes. Infact, through the New Start Program at SouthPoint Hospital they hand out a book with sample meal plans and dietary information. He addresses the risks of surgery with a straight on approach. I felt like he was straight forward with our group and didn't sugar coat anything. So far, (I am pre-op) he has been great. I have had friends that used Dr. Fabito and couldn't say enough good about him. In the perfect world the combination of both bedside manner and surgical competence are great, but if I had to choose just one, I would go with competence.

<P Align="left">I have not meet Dr. Fabito yet but I sure have talked with his nurse, Ida. I have to get insurance approval for the surgery before I can get my foot in the door. I use to pester Ida twice a week for my pre-determination letter. Now I am currently pestering the insurance company. I hope they approve me. Everyone that has had Dr. Fabito has nothing but good things to say about him. Let you know if I like him or not if I ever get to meet him. lol

5/7/02 I met Dr. Fabito yesterday at Southpointe for a Group Consultation. I was impressed. He was late because of an emergency operation, but I did not hear anyone complain. I finally met Ida face to face. She was also very kind. I felt all the questions that were ask were answered to where everyone could understand them. I was impressed that he went through the way that Gastric Bypass surgery had evolved and explained the reason that he preformed the procedure that he did. It made me feel very confident in my choice of surgeons. He even cracked a few jokes (that I actually got) ha ha. Well anyway I am still waiting for insurance approval so everyone keep praying!!

6/12/02~~~Am switching to Dr. Fabito as he will do surgery on Jehovah's Witnesses without blood. I have read many wonderful and reassuring things about him from his former and current patients. I feel confident that he will be able to perform the surgery meeting my expectations.

I have yet to meet Dr. Fabito. His office staff seems to be friendly & helpful enough.
The one thing I will say is that you REALLY have to actively pursue this. Keep calling, keep records of who you talk with and when. Keep checking on your status. My surgery request was sent snail mail and got lost..it was then faxed and went through within the week. I haven't been to the group pre-surgical consultation, that will be on the 28th of this month. May 31, 2002 I have finally had surgery. I would say that Dr. Fabito is very thorough. I have no complaints about the surgery. The only thing I had problems with was that I felt like I had to really push his office to help me (towards the end of my battle) with my insurance company. He really needs more staffing in his office also. However, I would strongly recommend him as a surgeon!! He covered everything about the surgery in his second seminar. Left no questions unanswered.
