I really like Dr. Fabito. He was very patient with me and answered a lot of questions I had written down when I went for my first meeting with him. He even drew a picture for me to better explain the procedure!

Ida, his assistant, efficiently runs the place. She has the difficult task of helping each and every person get their insurance things together, setting up appointments with the doctor, and coordinating surgeries. After the first meeting, she remembered my face and could recall my name each time she saw me. That meant a lot, especially since she sees so many people.

Aftercare with Dr. Fabito is brief. While you do meet with him on a regular basis each meeting takes less than 5 minutes, providing nothing is wrong. Because I haven't had any real side effects or problems, I have to say, I really wasn't around the doctor long enough to know him.

Every time I went to the waiting room was fun! It was almost like a support group meeting right there. Almost all of his patients are either pre or post RNY gastric bypass. There are a lot of questions, comparisons, and answers being exchanged by patients just while waiting to see the doc. I look forward to going if only for that!

Dr. Fabito seemed very caring and was willing to answer any question I had. I have to admit that with his accent I had a hard time understanding some things. I feel the best part of having surgery with Dr.Fabito was that at Southpoint Hospital the program is called Newstart Program and they were very helpful from the beginning.

Mr. Fabito is definitely a busy man. He was very personable and did take time to answer questions. The office is small, but the staff is very friendly and supportive. I heard patients in the waiting room making very good comments about Dr. Fabito's skill. I have confidence in Dr. Fabito and I was very impressed with the New Start Program staff. I went to the informational meeting and was impressed with the research, statistics, and knowledgeable, caring staff. There are several people on staff that have had the surgery. They are very supportive. I hope the insurance thing works out - I'd like to be Dr. Fabito's patient in June or July!

Dr. Fabito is wonderful!! I thank him for renewing my life. Ida, the office staff is great too!! I cant think of anything that I do not like about him. Dr. Fabito is very busy, the office is always full, ( he could use a bigger office at the Luthern Office) the waiting room is great to just sit in and share experiences with those that are there. I live 100 miles from the office and I go extra early to get a chance to share. and get a seat. The New Start program that is located at the Southpoint Hospital is a great imformation place and the staff and nurses are super. Both of his services are great, bed side manner and surgical competence.

I do think that he has such a great reputation that the last couple of times I have been for follow-up he has looked tired.

Dr. Fabito is a very caring man. His bedside manner is good. He seems genuinely concerned about the condition & progress of his patients. His office lady, Ida, is very sweet & helpful. Dr. fabito is a very busy man & does not spend a great amount of time at each visit, but he does take time to answer any questions you have & to take care of your needs. The program that he is involved with at South Pointe Hospital is very structured. It is called the New Start Program. They have a program coordinator that is very helpful with all pre & post-ops & also have a dietician that gives you instructions on what type of diet you will have to be on & she makes follow up calls periodically after you go home to make sure you are having no problems. She has been a big help to me. She is very knowledgeable. Dr. Fabito has his post-ops to see him 1 week post-op then monthly for a couple months, then if everything is going okay for you, visits decrease to every 3 months, then 6 months then yearly for about 5 years. He gives vitamin B12 shots to you for the first 2 months then puts you on vitamin B12 by mouth. Before I had the surgery, he explained all the possible risks & complications to me & my husband & was very willing to answer any questions. He did not try to pressure me into anything, but was there when I decided to have the surgery. Overall, I would rate him a 8 on a scale of 1-10. I had no complaints regarding Dr. Fabito's capabilities, & I have been pleased with the all around program he is part of. The support group meetings are very helpful also.

My surgeon was not the surgeon I listed. My surgeon was the man who started doing this surgery. It has been over twenty years and I cannot remember his name. If I heard it, I would remember, but I cannot recall it and I don't think he practices anymore. I do remember reading articles in medical journals stating that he was the forebearer of this type of surgery.
