My first impression of Dr. Lane was good. He is very caring, interested in you and takes his time with you. I didn't feel like number and he didn't make me feel like a failure.

Dr. Lane's office staff at BTC in Ypsilanti was excellent. Everyone wears a smile and it's sincere.

If you choose BTC to have your surgery and you get Dr. Lane, you won't be disappointed.

After care is very important. You are urged to keep ALL your appointments and never to hesitate to call if you need assistance.

Dr. Lane was straight forward with the risks of surgery.

I'd rate Dr. Lane a "10". The Best!!

Both Surgical competence and bedside manner are equally important.

I realize that 100% positive reviews are generally less informative or even suspect as stated on this site, but there is always an exception in anything and I can honestly say I never had a unpleasant situation with Dr. Lane the entire time.

If there was anything unpleasant it would be with the follow up from the Bariatric Treatment Center after your initial meeting with the surgeon. I wish they could have helped me out quicker with finding doctors in my area to perform the pre-qualification testing to be approved for the surgery. This was my only negative.

Well, now that I am 15 weeks post-op, I thought its time to tell the truth about Dr. Lane. I will start off and say this, I would not/could not have chosen a better surgeon. Dr. Lane's has been so personable and has provided me with any and everything I could ask for in a doctor. Yes, his demeanor was quite refreshing from the very first interview back in December, 2000. Of course, I did my home work and had lots of complex questions, in which he was able to break it down to me in real terms so that I fully understood everything!! He was and is very professional. After the surgery, I called him a couple of times and he got right back with me, which I really appreciated. Sometimes doctors will pass- the-buck when they are not on duty. Dr. Lane handled his own and I like that about a doctor. I would recommend Dr. Lane to future patients, and would suggest that future patients be prepared prior to meeting with any physician with plenty of questions. Dr. Lane strongly emphasizes aftercare and support group information. WLS risks are certainly on an individual basis. Everyone don't experience the same things, which is good. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate Dr. Lane a 10, and believe that he is surgically competant and has good bedside manners.

I HAD MY FIRST MEETING WITH DR. LANE ON 1/7/02. I WAS REALLY NERVOUS. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. HE ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING IN "PLAIN ENGLISH". I FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE WITH DR. LANE AND HAVE NO FEARS ABOUT HIM DOING THE SURGERY.

Dr Lane was a wonderful surgeon he was very nice and helpful, answering all my questions.

Dr. Lane is very professional and an exceptionally proficient surgeon. He has taken time to discuss any questions or concerns with me and my husband at each appointment, pre and postop. He is respectful and courteous. I cannot say enough about his expertise and bedside manner. He thoroughly explained all aspects of the surgery and aftercare. Overall, on a scale from 1-10, I would rate Dr. Lane as a 15. He is tops in my eyes!!

The aftercare is quite structured. We are given an organized manual for bariatric care. We meet with a nutritionist at every appointment. There is a 24 hour phone number to contact the BTC if I have any questions.

The only negative that I could say is that Dr. Lane is extremely busy. That is a negative for him, not for me. Even though the popularity of WLS has astromically grown in the past year, I have been treated very well. All of the surgeons of BTC of Michigan are busy and getting busier by the month.

He was a great surgeon. He explained the process and what to expect very well at the pre op visit, he came and met with me and my husband before surgery to see if we had any questions and went over the procedure again, he came to see me several times while in the hospital. He had a great bedside manner. He seemed like he really cared. I would recommend him to anyone having this surgery.

I met with Dr. Lane in April of 2001. I was very impressed with him. He was very business like. He explained in great detail and answered all my questions (there were lots)! He did not rush or make me feel that I was taking up too much time.

My only concern was with the wait to see him. My appointment was 2 hours late and my husband was unable to stay with me.

I met Dr. Lane for the first time this past Friday, November 2, 2001. He seemed very personable and readily answered the sheet full of questions I asked him. I think he was at first a bit surprised by the types of questions I was asking him, but he realized by then that I had done my home work thoroughly and was asking about the nitty gritty stuff. Pretty indepth for an initial consultation. I was comfortable enough with Dr. Lane to continue to pursue this option and plan on him doing my surgery.

Very positive. As others had said on this site, Dr. Lane took as much time as needed to explain everything and answer all my husband's and my questions. The Bariatric Treatment Center as a whole seems like it will be the ideal place for me because all the equipment, chairs, scales, gowns, etc., are made for the obese patient and many of the staff and nurses have had the surgery themselves. I did not like having to wait an hour before the appointment, however. I liked the informality and easiness of the support group offered through BTC. I know that I can return anytime and ask them any questions. They showed off their scars! I also interviewed at Bloomfield Bariatrics which has also gotten good reviews on this site. I had to wait 45 minutes that day and felt as if the program manager, Jackie, had forgotten the appointment. She wasn't even in the building. Because of my work schedule, I could not stay beyond the originally scheduled time so only got 15 minutes of her time. Instead of offering me another appointment, she just wanted me to go to their support group. That is a MUST in their program - every other week for 2 years. You have to let them know when you are going on vacation, etc. Also, their support meetings have 50-60 people. I don't think I'd like that. Anyway, she hugged me when I left even though I offered my hand to shake. I have always used fat as a buffer against the world and do not feel that someone who has known me for 15 minutes has the right to hug me. I wrote Jackie a letter explaining this. I am glad that BTC treated me professionally yet warmly. I am looking forward to my continued journey there.
