I had my consultation with Dr. Lane in Ypsilanti. I felt very comfortable with him and he was very informative with explaining exactly what was done in the procedure, the risks of the surgery, and also discussed with me the importance of aftercare. After talking with him I felt very at east and reassured.that this was something I not only wanted to do but needed to do to make a better, healthier life for me. This was one of the websites he recommended to me. He also gave me information on a support group meeting in my area. He was also very eager to answer all of my questions that I had.
I met with Dr. Lane on Friday, June 7, 2002. I had to wait for him for over 45 minutes (after I had already met with the intake nurse AND my patient counselor), but it was worth the wait. He did not try to rush at all. I had done a considerable amount of research and walked in with a list (full page) of questions for him. He answered everything I asked and spoke to me as if I was a knowledgable candidate ofr surgery. I would recommend him.
Dr. Lane was so helpful, I received my first consultation may 23, 2002. The visit was 2 1/2 hrs long. The nutritionist answered all the questions on my list , my husband was very upset that I was looking to have this procedure performed, but after speaking with Dr. Lane he has sense changed his mind. I recommend the BTC center in Ypsilanti, MI
I have not met with him yet, but it was very easy to get in for a consultation (June 10). When I called the surgeon that my Dr. told me to I couldn't even get a consultation appointment until April of 2003. Forget it! I have finally made my decision after 7 years of debate, I dont want to wait another year. Ok so the surgeon my dr wanted me to see does the RNY lapriscopically, is it really worth waiting that long for it?
Seems like a very educated doctor. He was very thorough witht the explination of the surgery even drawing diagrams and all for easier understanding. He was also very forward with telling me the risks invollved and what I need to do to make this work! Very Very impressed! Lets jsut hope he doesnt say durring my surgery "oops"! :)

My first impression of Dr. Lane was positive. He was soft spoken, was very professional in how he conducted the consultation. I felt he would have taken as much time as needed to answer my questions.
His office staff was efficient and pleasant. There wasn't anything that I didn't like about him. The Bariatric Treatment Centers, of which he is on staff, appears to have thoroughly covered every aspect of the surgery including groups meetings and people on staff who have undergone the surgery. He didn't really address the risks of surgery but then I was asking most of the questions. I had done quite a bit of research on the web and so was informed. I would rate Dr. Lane to be a 9 out of 10. I believe that he has both surgical competance and bedside manner. At this stage, for an initial impression, I would recommend him as a surgeon.
My first impression of Dr. Lane was very positive. I had heard he is one of the best. I had done a lot of research regarding WLS and had a few questions. When he answered my questions, he did so in terms I was comfortable with. He did not answer them like he was talking to a 2 year old, as some doctors would.
The only negative thing I would say about Dr Lane and/or BTC, is the time you have to wait to get an appointment. However once you get there, they do seem to have it down. When I went there for my consult and again for my pre-surgery testing, things went very smoothly. One nurse went out, another came right in. Very little waiting.
My personal impressions about Dr Lane and BTC are overall very good. I would recommend them to anyone!!
