Dr. Lane was friendly and professional. He gave me good information and willingly answered questions without going into medicaleese. He also told me to start going to a support group right away, which I appreciated and have done.

He also stressed that surgery is a tool not a cure. I will still need to learn how to eat and make choices. I can still stretch the stomach.

The staff at BTC has been very helpful and friendly. I am, however, having trouble catching Debbie to discuss my insurance. I always get her voice mail and I can't received calls where I work during the day. I'm not sure what to do about this.

I met with Dr. Lane only once in April 2001 at the initial concultation. He appeared very caring and answered all of my many questions. He didn't rush.

My husband and I met with Dr. Lane in April 2001. This consultation was quite lengthy and very informative. Dr. Lane was knowledgeable and informative. He answered all of our questions with great detail and patience. Dr. Lane stressed the importance of aftercare, not only in the weeks following surgery but also for the need of a life-long commitment to your health.

My first consultation is scheduled for May 30. I am very excited to getting to my consultation and getting things rolling and am praying my insurance will approve my surgery. Will tell you more after my consultation. bye bye for now :-)
June 8..Well my first consultation went ok. The office staff seemed to run like a well oiled machine. Everyone knew their jobs and did them well. My next step is getting some tests done in order to have insurance approval. I was hopeful that it would all go really fast cause I just want to get this done and over with and start losing weight but one of my appts. isn't until July 18th. My insurance also requires a psychiatrist evaluation that I know what I am getting into and that I will be able to handle it. I am still hopeful my surgery will be this summer but will have to wait and see if all goes well. Thank you to everyone who has shared their stories and insight, what a blessing it has been to read them here at this site. Will update more when I know what is happening next. Your friend...Shelley

I met with Dr. Lane this morning. He was very professional and very informed. He was respectful and very thorough. I went into the consultation 95% sure that I wanted to go through with this, and now I'm 100% sure. He went over his experience and shared some long-term results. He was careful to make sure I understood all the risks as well. I'm very pleased, and very comfortable with my choice.
I'm postop now (6 days), and I'm so glad I chose Dr. Lane. His bedside manner is so calm and reassuring, and he was there at the hospital almost everytime I was awake, it seemed. He came to my room for official visits twice a day, and we'd chat a little in the hallways when I was up walking. I'm so pleased!
Oh, one thing I should share. I was supposed to be at the hospital at 9:30, and was told I could expect to be in surgery by 11 or 12. I didn't go in till almost 3. That was because the man Dr. Lane was operating on before my had some unforeseen problems, and Dr. Lane took his time to make sure everything was okay. This was all explained to me before I went in, and I was rather reassured. The wait gave me time to nap, pray, spend quiet time with my husband, and the staff was very kind throughout.

My first impression of Dr. Lane was a great one. He explained everything to me. I had a lot of questions and he answered them all with no hesitation. I did have to wait a long time to see him but the staff at the Bariatric Treatmnent center was very nice. The only disappointing thing was that I was hoping for Laproscopic surgery and they are not st up for it yet.I will post more after my surgery and let everyone know how the Dr. and The hospital treated me post op.

When I first met Dr. Lane he was very professional and very discriptive. I really didn't know if I liked him. His office staff is very nice and caring. What I didn't like the most is I felt that he was really bossy. He is very caring but he also is very professional and to the point. He is very direct and to the point about aftercare. He has a very structured aftercare program. He told my husband and I all of the things that could go wrong about the surgery but then he told us all the benefits. I think that he is a good surgeon. I think that his surgical competence is better but I don't know about his bedside as of yet.

Dr Lane is very professional and serious about his work. his knowledge and patience to explain things is awesome.I had no problems at all with Dr.Lane and for the most part the Baratric center was good at the care while in the hospital, However, I must say that the hospital must improve their management of nursing. My discharge was very unorganized and there were no meds given to me for pain and I was released at 500PM and so by the time I had the horrible bumpy ride 1 and half hrs home, I had to have a family member scrambling to get to a Pharmacy to get the script filled.

Dr. Lane impressed me as a highly skilled, caring and compassionate surgeon. He seems to truly enjoy helping obese people get healthy again. Also, he seems to understand that we are not all fat just because we have no will power or because we are lazy. He made me feel very comfortable with him, as well as with my decision to have this surgery. Dr. Lane emphasizes aftercare VERY STRONGLY. He points out that it's VERY IMPORTANT to work with your nutritionist and to call if you have ANY questions at all after you get home from the hospital or if you notice anything at all out of the ordinary...no matter how small you may think it is. He was very graceful about addressing the risks involved. He thoroughly explained the risks without scaring me half to death. As far as whether his surgical competence or bedside manner is better, I can't say yet because I haven't had my surgery yet. So far, though, if I were to take a guess....I'd have to say probably both aspects about him are wonderful! :)
