My first impression of Dr.Overcash was that he was a compassionate and caring doctor whose professinalism and knowledge are clearly depicted through his dedication and work. He is very straightforward and upfront and does not sugarcoat the facts. It is evident that he understands the true value of a life and takes all the precautions necessary to ensure it's well being. His staff portrays an excellent image of him. Just like a child is the image of his or her parent, so is Dr. Overcash's staff an image of him. They are true professionals and truely made the difference. I would without hesitation recommend Dr. Overcash and his staff to anyone seeking to have this surgery. There aftercare program and follow-up is incredible and outstanding. They are with you every step of the way and that alone speaks for itself. I would rate this team 100+ for excellance.
My first impressions of Dr. Overcash were good. He is direct, gives you all the details and doesn't try to talk you into the surgery, quite the opposite. He lets you know that this is not for everyone and some even though obese will not be able to have the surgery for various reasons. He has a good personality and is a hands-on dad. (His little girl was in the office the day I was there.....)
I like a surgeon who gives you all the details, is upfront about the pain, changes and what's in store for you. He asked us questions and gave us time to ask him questions and he has a staff that know what they are doing and the office flows well. Even on a bad day, like the day we were there our wait time was short and we were in and out in less than 2 hours for the first visit.
He didn't waste my time or anyone elses, and we didn't waste his.
I was very impressed with Dr. Overcash the first time I met him. He has several years of experience and that was very important to me. Everything is spelled out as to what needs to be done to submit to my insurance company. Once I did all that, I was accepted on the first try. As time went on I learned that Dr. Overcash was very tough and had high expectations of his patients. I think that helped more than anything. I would suggest him to anybody. He's great!!!
So far I have only met with him once. I liked his no nonsense, fact based explanation of the surgery. He doesn't try to sugar coat the possible dangers of surgery. However, if you are a person who "can't handle the truth", he might not be the person to talk with.
His staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. He has a staff member who gives you a packet of information to complete and return and she does all the leg work getting approval from the insurance company. She was great. I received approval from First Choice three weeks after she submitted my information.
They allowed me to set my own schedule for surgery to accommodate my life's committments.
He has a very structured aftercare program, along with a pre-operative session with a nutrionist.
So far, I think he is great. We'll see if I feel the same way after surgery.
My first impression of Dr. Overcash was that he knew what he was talking about and was experienced. I still think the same things, but being is his office is like watching a cattle herd. His office staff is wonderful though (especially Patrice). They work hard with your insurance company to get the surgery paid for and they're super nice. One thing you should know is that Dr. Overcash is always super busy and if you have questions for him you should think of them ahead of time and/or write them down and ask him otherwise you may forget and then that's it - you have to make him sit down for a minute and sit with you. There is also no aftercare program - just regular post-op visits, but he does emphasize the importance of support and encouragement before and after surgery. And he is pretty thorough with the risks before, during and after surgery - and making sure you understand them. Overall on a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being the worst and 10 the best I'd give him a 7. He loses points for not having the best bedside manners and making me feel rushed all of the time.
He was very straight foward and talked more about the risks involved than the benefits at my first visit with him.his staff were very helpful with questions that I had about my ins..I did not like that he was a little morbid, and I felt he rushed a little. The surgery went fine I did hav e a stricture about 1 month out and Dr. O referred me to a Dr. close by and I had it fixed.Over all I would rate him about a 7.
He is very down to business and gave every reason why you would not want this surgery. This is a last resort. You can die. His office staff is wonderful. They give you a packet to complete. When everything is completed, they turn it in the insurance. I was approved with BCBS HMO in 3 days.
He is Board Certified and has excellent outcome %.
Aftercare is utmost. You must take a Nutrition class in Ocala as part of your package.
I feel very confident in his ability and training. I would recommend him for anyone who is in desperate need. His staff is very knowledgable.
To me surgical competence is the highest measure. Most surgeons are not very personable. They are technicians!
My first impression was that he was a very personable and competent doctor I felt that I could really grow to like him. Now I know he's a competent doctor, but very impersonal. I think he takes his patients through a revolving door or something :) I am very close to most all of my doctors, but Dr. Overcash doesn't really give you that oppurtunity. His office staff is excellent! The are always willing to give you help with anything you need. I didn't like the fact that he did not even know my name. My OB/GYN knows my name, my kids' names and my mothers name, but Dr Overcash is SOO impersonal and short with you. If you go to see Dr. Overcash remeber, he's not there to be your friend, but he will be your doctor and he is very competent. He doesn't have an aftercare program really, he let's the nurses at the hospital and the dietician class beforehand guide you through aftercare. Overall I would give Dr. Overcash a 10 in ability, but I think that being a doctor involves being personable with your patients, so, overall he get's a 7.
