I had my consult on 5/14/01 and I was very happy with Patrice and Dr Overcash. He is upfront, honest, considerate and pretty much to the point. He made you feel completely comfy in asking questions. Patrice (who handles all your insurance matters) is as sweet as can be. She never gets mad for calls or questions...she is helpful and really supportive. She is what made this all work. I owe her big time. In all honesty though, Kathy and Angela at the surgeons office leave something to be desired. Very insensitive towards our feelings with getting this approved/denied. I guess they really do not understand how much many of us want this procedure...in time they will learn. So, my advice to you...DEAL WITH PATRICE ONLY!!!! (and all will be fine)
I had my surgery on June 5th...went in for Lap RnY....and ended up having open. I also, supposidely, had a leak....and had to go back in for a second full blown surgery on June 11th. Heres the kick off....turns out I didnt even have a leak. I feel, in my heart, (and I am just being honest) that Dr Overcash is a skilled surgeon WHEN IT COMES TO DOING OPEN RNY.....but I dont feel he is confident or experienced enough in LAP...and I dont feel he is experienced in dealing with problems that arise. If he was more familiar with leaks...issues...problems...I would have never had to go in for a second surgery. The second time around was terrible. My respiratory system was barely functioning and I honestly didnt know if I was going to pull through the second time. So...my overall opinion of Dr. Overcash.....go to him if you feel 100% confident that all will go perfect with open RNY. If you have any concerns with issues/problems...go elsewhere. Thats all I am going to say about this for now...lol.
My first consult with Dr. Overcash is June 4, 2001.
June 4th: I met with Dr. Overcash and I thought he was great! he answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable. He was very detailed as to what I should expect regarding Surgery, and Post-op. His receptionist {Patrice} was very helpful and even called me after I got home to tell me she sent a request to my PCP for my medical records and that Dr. Overcash was dictating a letter to the insurance company to speed up the process. She even said she would call me as soon as she heard something from the insurance company. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Overcash and would recommend him highly.
I changed surgeons. I've completed all the required evaluations & ordered the medical records. I just can't wait for Dr. Murr in Tampa any longer. I met some incredible women in the chatroom on this site who urged me to contact their surgeon in Ocala, which is only 85 miles from here. I called Dr. Overcash's office on Monday & sched an appt with him for that Friday. I WAS IN SHOCK !! An appt the same week -- Wow Dr. Murr thinks we should wait a year or two to meet him.
I met with Dr. Overcash and I was instantly hooked. His assistant Patrice knew who I was when I walked in the door & welcomed me. Dr. Overcash came to the waiting room to get me & weighed me himself. He told me I am a lightweight. I just blushed & kidded with him for talking about my sexy little toes & pinkie fingers. We went into an exam room where be both sat & talked. I burst out laughing because I thought he was the Nurse. He laughed & said he believes in working. I was very impressed with the way he talked very openly and honestly. He didn't talk in medical terminology where I couldn't understand him. I was out of the office in less than 45 mins from when I arrived. I brought home my little packet of paperwork to fill out. I mailed the paperwork yesterday and now I sit back and wait for God to answer my prayer with an APPROVAL from BlueCross BlueShield PPO.
I met with Dr Overcash today. (5/18/01)
My first impression of him was that he was younger than I though he would be. His office staff was busy but courteous. My husband and I spoke with him for a good 45 minutes. He was very caring and answered all the questions that my husband and I had.
Now all I need to do is fill out my paperwork and send it in to Dr Overcash. He will then write up the letter for the insurance and submit it. Then it will be a waiting game....
I found Dr Overcash to be an extremely caring
physician---I liked him immediately and still
do (as of todays date of 4/29/01; I am 5 weeks post op)
The Surgical Associates Staff are the most
knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate individuals I have ever encountered in a Medical Office
Dr Overcash also has an Obesity Support Group that meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Ocala Regional Hospital that I have found to be very beneficial to me
I would rate Dr overcash and his staff an A+
Even though I can not speak for others and their experience with this office---so far, I am very pleased with my association with
this medical office---but of course, this is
only my personal opinion
Dr William Todd Overcash
Dr Overcash is absolutely wonderful. At the initial consultation, he was very thorough in his description of the surgery. Answered all of my questions, without making me feel like I was being hurried.
I ended up being his first Laproscopic Gastric Bypass Patient, and I can tell you, he did a wonderful job. It only took 3 hours and 1 hour of that was to remove adhesions from prior surgeries, so the actual bypass W/galllbladder removal only took 2 hours. Fantastic.
The only thing even slightly bad about Dr Overcash- He is very direct, doesn't sugar coat anything. So, if you need to have things put delicately, better find another doctor.
