An angel on another website gave me the name of a bariatric surgeon in Ocala who can take me! He rearranged his surgical schedule to accomodate my insurance switch and I am scheduled for 12/28/01. My new surgeon's name is Dr. Wm. Todd Overcash and I honestly believe that he is the answer to my prayers. I was to a point where I believed I would not be able to get this done and would have to start all over with a new insurance company and new surgeon. I called Dr. Overcash's office on a Thursday, had an appointment in his office the next Monday and had a surgery date by the time I left the office. Dr. Overcash is very straight forward when he discusses this surgery. He does not want to "talk anyone into having this surgery" -- it needs to be the patients choice. He makes sure each patient is aware of the dangers as well as the benefits. I believe he knew how much research I had done on this procedure but wanted to be very sure I understood everything that would be going on. He assured me that he had never lost a patient -- and I told him that I do not intend to be the first!
2/14/02 -- I wanted to add a bit more about Dr. Overcash. I know that most pre-ops who are considering Dr. Overcash want more than just my few impressions of him following an initial consultation....they want real facts. In my opinion, Dr. Overcash is a very gifted surgeon. He is not, however, a "hand holder". If you are looking for a surgeon who holds your hand through each and every step of this journey, Dr. Overcash may not be the doctor for you. He appreciates confident, self-motivated patients for this surgery....only my opinion. I have come to appreciate him more since the surgery in December. I took it upon myself to make some dietary changes prior to him telling me I could do that. When I saw him today, I told him what I had done. I did not get the lecture or the warning. He understood the reason for the changes and was fine with it. He accepted that, at the age of 42, I know enough about myself and my body to know what I needed and was smart enough to make an educated decision about what I put in my mouth. His support staff in the office are all very pleasant to deal with on the few occasions I have called with a question. If you have spent time educating yourself about gastric bypass surgery and are confident that this is the best option for you, then I highly recommend Dr. Overcash for your surgery.
My consultation appointment with Dr. Yasrebi was Monday, February 12, 2001. I was seen in his office until the first week of May. I endured his strict diet and lost 28 lbs. and still wasnt scheduled for surgery until June 22nd, therefore, I changed my surgeon to Dr. Wm. Todd Overcash in Ocala, Fla, got an appoint in one week, and I had surgery on May 29th.

It has been a long time since I have updated my profile. I have received numerous inquiries about Dr. Overcash. I would just like to say I think he is a competent surgeon and my experience was great. I am pleased with my weight loss success!!!
I decided to change doctors from
Dr Brient to Dr Overcash. I liked
the first one butI feel the office staff
was not helpful. I was told by Wendy that does the insurance, " I was not the only patient she had to schedule for" So I felt
it was necessary to change practices. The one I chose is about 24 miles further for me
but Patrice was wonderful. She always seemed to have the time for any questions I needed
answered.
Dr. Overcash is the coolest. Straight up, no bsing here. I like him alot, I felt really comfortable and he answered all of my questions very matter of factly. His office staff is wonderful, especially Patrice, who is a wealth of knowledge. I love the fact that Dr. Overcash is the one that comes to the waiting room to get you. Awesome--is all I can say!
I only had about a 5 minute visit with him pre-op. I had a VBG in 1990 and am a medical person and didn't require too much info. I saw him again for about 5 minutes after surgery and will see him again for staple removal on the 21st. His nurse is very informative and will fill in any blanks for those who do not know much about the surgery. I informed the girl who does the insurance thing that I was on a time limit and with less than 3 weeks to go she went after my approval. She got it in ONE week. I was very impressed with that. He will have me on fluids for 6 weeks and then sugar free is the only real restriction. He won't be doing follow-up care. My general physician will be doing that.
Doctor Overcash is extremely up-front about the risks and laid it right out there on that first visit.
Overall, bedside manner is non-existent. He's rather abrupt.
As a medical person, I don't care about those things. I just wanted the surgery to be done correctly. I'm satisfied.
I met Dr. Overcash for my consultation on October 25th. I was denied by my original insurance, so with my new job, I reapplied and was approved on Feb. 7, 2002. Dr. Overcash is very to the point. I am very confident in him and his abilities. Patrice and all of his office staff are great. They are very busy, but make sure you get taken care of.My mother is also going to use him for her surgery, but she is still waiting for approval.I did find it odd that when I went he basically told me about the surgery and what to expect, I spent less than 20 minutes talking to him. When my mother met with him, he really gave her a hard time about having to excersize and his expectations. It could be the age difference or the fact her health is a little worse than mine. But it just seemed weird the difference in how much info he gave. While I was in the hospital I had very little contact with him, he came by and spen less than 5 minutes with me each time. His nurse, Madeline, was good about checking on you though and she is very caring.
when i meet dr. overcash i wasnt sure what to think ,he was young and very hansom so i was a little worried...but just because he is young does not mean he does not know what he is doing after 8weeks out and having gone back to ocala i come to look forward to our visits he is very contagious (funny) and his bed side manner isnt the best ( he is so busy preforming surgerys that he doesnt make it to youre room very often) ,but his nurses more than make up for it i was hospitalized for 4 days and it is nice being pampered and waited upon if i had it to do again knowing then what i know now , i would do it again just for the opportunity to know these people dr overcash and his nurses recieve nothing but high praises from me and my family
When I first meet Dr Overcash I though he was very upfrount, he told me all the goods and bads about having rny. His office staff well the only person i really talked to was Patrice she was really great. He was really good to deal with when in the hospital. Then after surgery when I went back for a follow up he was cool, although I really didn't talk to him then his nurse did all the talking and removed my staples. Now the next follow up when I went to be released to solid foods he seemed to have an attitude. When I was asking questions about what I should eat and not eat he said something about trying to cheat the surgery. He really scared me at that point I am still scared that I am not gonna loose weight like I should becaue of that comment. Since that I have choosen not to return to him my family doctor is doing all my follow ups and blood work.
I haven't met him yet--Consultation is set for 11/13/01
Got a call from Dr Sarantos office and he no longer takes my insurance so had to find a new surgeon. Choose Dr Overcash in Ocala and have a consultation for 11/5/01. Can't wait any longer--Pick up medical records today 10/23/01. My daugher is seeing Dr Overcash on 10/25/01 for the Surgery. She should have it before me.
1/17/02 Met Dr Overcash today and he is just like everyone says. Very straight forward. I like him and he seems knowledgable and I feel confident of my choice to use him. More comments when I have more communications with him. I was impressed with his style.
