He was very blunt, told me this is not elective surgery. I need to know all the complications that can happen.
He was very caring. He told me the day of the surgery I still could back out.
Very helpful. Got me approved through my insurance the 1st visit.
Knowledgeable.
Does not spend more than 10 minutes with you, has too many patients.
Will tell you to make arrangements to have someone raise children.
When I met with Dr Overcash I already knew what to expect in his presentation. I wasn't prepared to see how many others are in the same or similar situation with thier weight. I almost laughed out loud at one point. There are airlines that are considering charging us additional fares because of our size and here I sat in a room where hardly any of us fit comfortably into the seat. The room was full.
As I had been told he was very no nonsense which is fine with me. I am much more concerned with competence.
His staff is helpful and knowledgable. I can tell he depends on them to help complete the process.
I have sent everything back that they need to submit for approval. Now the waiting begins. I really dread it. I have heard that BCBS is tough.
I liked Dr.Overcash's office the best out of three I spoke with. Patrice is so very wonderful, nice and sincerely helpful. She works so hard and makes you feel special. She called when she said she would. She faxed my papers to the Ins.co. on the 7th and two days later she called me with an approval. This is not usual for my HMO. They scheduled my surgery one week from the day of my approval!

I met Dr Overcash about three months ago and he was great. I liked how he called you back and weighed you and then he just talked. Answered most of my questions before I could ask them. He did then give me a chance to ask any. The only problem I had was how long it took to have my papers put in for insurance approval. I was told it would be about ten days after the Dr dictated his letter, it was actually over a month and closer to a month and a half. But I very much like the Dr and feel very comfortable with his abilities. I am just waiting now for a date. He was very insistent that you follow his rules after the surgery. Well, I got my approval on a Monday and it was faxed to Dr Overcash's office, I called Wed to make sure they got it and guess what. They didn't. So I sent them a copy of mine on Thur and by Thur afternoon I had my surgery date for two weeks away. I am ready.
This was my first meeting with the dr.My first impression of Dr Overcash was very good. I knew by reading here that he was direct and blunt with his thoughts. So i was not taken back. I found him to be friendly, willing to answer any questions you have. He seems to have the proceedure down to a fine science.
I had my 1st appt. yesterday. His office was very busy and I was a little nervous. This is as far as I've ever been able to get to have this surgery approved. Dr. Overcash was very nice. I really liked his attitude, he was quite funny. No matter how prepared I was,(questions all typed, folder and even brought my own pen)it all feel apart. When he gave me a chance to ask questions, I didn't know where to begin. OK, so I was a little more nervous than I thought, my mind wouldn't shut off enough for me to focus on the issue at hand. I keep thinking in my own mind of the risks and me loosing weight and all the things I think about over and over on a daily basis. But God bless him for putting up with me, he did a good job. I did leave with a since of not getting all the info I needed though, not his fault.
He is no BS... right to the point. Told of risks. Pretty much everything other people have said about him is true. I am comfortable. (The surgeon never did make me nervous, more worried about the anesthesiologist.) I'm excited! I met Dr. Overcash on 6/18. Scheduled for Surgery on 7/3. Yipee!!!!********************
7/9: POST Surgery: I like Dr. Overcash even more. I might have to name my next child after him or something. He saved my life! He is awesome. He does an awesome job. I highly recommend him.*****************
Hello everyone. After a long stuggle and being caught in the middle between BCBS HMO and The Center for Obesity/Gainesville Surgical Group, I finally have a referral to see Dr Overcash on August 20. It seemed so far away when I got my appointment but after getting the list of what I needed to get, that gives me just enough time. I must say that after what I had gone through with both of Dr Thoburn's offices, I was very discouraged. But after reading the posts and talking with his office staff, I am ready to get this done and have a life. I am 29 going to be 30 in October. Would love to have this as a great start to a new life. I will keep everyone posted with my little journey and will put a picture of me on here to let everyone see the before and after. I wish everyone who is going through this the best of luck with insurance and the surgery. If there is anyone who lives in Jacksonville or in the surrounding areas who knows of or would like to start a support/friend group let me know. Thanks so much ..

I met with Dr Overcash today. He was really very nice. He and my husband joked around quite a bit. I really like him and feel comfortable with him. I did warn him that I had read quite a bit about him on the internet. but not to worry it wans't bad. He was very up front about everything. I am now just waiting to have my info sent to the insurance company. They say it takes about a week. So I will just wait and see. I really think Dr Overcash is an excellent choice.
7/17/02 Ok here I am 1 week post op, and I liked Dr Overcash before now I like him even more. I feel great. I am walking and shopping and just having a very wonderful time with all this.
