IT DID NOT CHANGR
VERY PLEASANT
HE WAS LATE EVEN THOUGHT I'M SURE IT WAS A VERY GOD REASON
HE IS STRAIGHT TO THE POINT HONEST.
HE EMPHASIZED IT ALOT HE DOES THE SURGERY IT IS UP TO US AFTER THAT. STRAIGHT FORWARD RIGHT TO THE POINT VERY SERIOUSLY.
GREAT. BOTH ARE VERY IMPORTANT.
My first meeting with Dr. O was March 4, 2002. I had tried to do some research on the internet ahead of time so I would have some idea of the surgery and have some questions for him when I went in. The very first thing that hit me was he came out to the waiting room to call his patients back. I have never in my life had a doctor do that. What a cool idea! Made me feel at ease immediately. Once inside the he weight me and then we talked or rather he talked and I listened. He pulls no punches, he tells it just like it is. Asks how serious you are and are you really ready for this life changing experience. I told him I've tried everything else and I'd thought about it for a year and I was definitely ready to start living! His staff is the the greatest. Patrice is a doll she'll help you all she can and never gets out of sorts when you call daily to see if you've been approved and scheduled.I do wish we had a little more structure to the aftercare part but I think that is getting better too. Some don't think he has a good bedside manner but as for me I think he was great. He came in exhausted my third night in the hospital and while I sat and rocked he climbed up and layed across my bed. Now tell have you ever. LOL He's great, he's number one in my book.
My first impression of Dr. O was that he was very blunt and to the point. That impression has not changed. I feel I made the right choice in going to him as I feel he is an excellent surgeon. His office staff is absolutely wonderful and even though they are very busy always make the effort to let you know you matter. Patrice is the person I had the most dealings with, as I had to battle the Insurance for a year, and in my opinion is an absolute angel who helped me retain my sanity through the long ordeal.
I was very impressed with Dr. Overcash and his staff. They are busy but they take time to get things done. I have never seen any one able to do what Patrice does. It is amazing to see them in action. I like the personal touch of Dr. Overcash coming to get you from the waiting room himself.
I went to my follow up appoint ment the other day and all I have to say is if anyone is looking into this Dr. for the AGB, don't bother. He has no structured after care for the band. I was told to eat Tums, have my B12 checked, and come back in 4 mos. I think everyone knows with the band you should get your firs fill at 4-6 weeks out not 4 mos out. He also was extremely rude and never checked my incision sights. Had he spoken to me better than he did I would have told him about my incision busting open, had he done a profeshional job and looked he would have seen it himself. I know he is having problems with his personal life but he needen't take it out on his patients if he wants to keep practising medicine. Just my oppenion but if I had a pet, I would not take it to him for any kind of treatement, much less a human. I will be finding another Dr. to do my follow up care from this point on.
I have had to change surgeons because my insurance is no longer going to be associated with my first surgeon. I have been trying to get all my info to them so that they could send to my insurance but have had setback after setback until the final straw. Thought it was the worst thing that could happen but turns out it was probably for the best. When I first met my new surgeon, Dr. Overcash, I was very impressed. Not because of his intelligence or his past record of performance, but because ANY man who will put his family before his business goes to the head of the class in my estimation. To me, that is very important. Patrice, his secretary, is a sweetheart, very helpful and compassionate.
He pulls no punches in regard to giving you the facts of the surgery including all the pros and cons. He has lots of information on aftercare and stresses its importance. I believe that this move that I thought was going to be terrible is turning out to be the best thing that could have happened. I look forward to my journey with Dr. Overcash and am sure I will come to highly rate his competence and bedside manner.
7/11/02> > > > Dr. Overcash's office is 4 hours from my home in S. Florida, but he is so worth the/ drive. I am from a small town near W. Palm Beach and I like doctors that take time to talk to me. When I first met Dr. Overcash, I was in the waiting room. He came out and called for me, weighed me in and had a consult with me and my husband. He does shoot straight from the hip on his consult. He will tell you like it is and then ask you if you feel like you want to proceed. I liked this approach. Patrice is in charge of the office (and makes it look so easy). She can juggle a phone, balance a computer, work the copy machine with her feet and talk like an auctioneer. Find that in any other office lately?LOL ;-) She is really nice, informative and very busy, but good at her job! I feel like changing doctors was the best thing I could've done. I changed from a Dr. in Ft. Lauderdale and am already glad I did. Dr. Overcash is outspoken and honest--exactly what we all need at this point in our lives.
9/18/02>>Dr. O has a lot going on in his life right now, but the reassuring thing is that his patients are on the top of his list. I trust him completely and thank him and his staff for being so supportive of me and my decision.
My first impression of Dr. Overcash and his staff, was very professional and extremely helpful. I didn't have much contact with the office, until after surgery. I was approved with my first submission to insurance. Every time that I have had a problem, the office has been right on top of anything that I needed. Mostly I've had a lot of nasuea, but it's getting better every day.
Dr. Overcash is a busy man but I guess thats a good thing. His patients all love him very much. I believe he is a good surgeon and cares about his patients. He did address all of the issues with surgery and after. They were really fast in processing everything and getting a surgery date. Patrice is wonderful and really helpful.
Because Dr Butler is not an In Network surgeon, he needed me to pay a $2000 surgery deductible which I just couldn't justify spending when I knew there were surgeons that were In network. So! I started all over with my search. That brings me to Dr. Overcash. When I was completing the paperwork, I noticed a man come out from behind the desk area, go into the waiting area, finger thru magazines, and talk to the people waiting as if he knew them personally. You cannot imagine my surprise when this man turned out to be none other than Dr Overcash. I liked that. It showed me just how friendly and approachable he was. THEN, HE called me back, not his nurse and HE weighed me. I had never, EVER heard of a DR doing that. So once again, I was impressed and I hadn't even discussed the surgery yet! (grin) We went into a room where he proceeded to explain the complications, expectations, and recovery process of bariatric surgery. I left feeling hopeful that the surgery is still going to happen for me. (yea) I wish I had started out with Dr Overcash in the first place!!! He is close to my home and well, the $5 copay is the icing on the cake!
***4 months post op and NO complications! Dr Overcash has gained not only my respect but my gratitude!**
