My appointment was May 7, 2002 at 1pm. My husband and I drove into Ocala from Orlando. My husband was against this surgery but after talking with Dr. Overcash he is now for the surgery. Dr. Overcash was discribed to me as having no bedside manner but I liked his approach. All the negative stuff first and fast and straight forward. Then the truth about my own path, either way death was the bottom line. So I am heading forward with my husband now on my side and praying to make it through the surgery and on to a happier healther life. I have completed all the testing Dr. Overcash required and now waiting for his office to get the final surgery approval. Thank you all for being here for me to read and learn so much more from. See you at support sessions.. Bye Janet
My first impression of Dr. Overcash was that he was the nurse. He came to the waiting room and got me, weighed me in and escorted me to the exam room. He was very professional, thorough, and to the point. He explained all the risks associated with surgery. His office staff is very good and responsive and do not make you feel you are bothering them with all the calls. He put together a packet to go to the inusrance company and I was approved within two weeks. Dr. Overcash had me have some further testing for a cardiology workup. I expected him to be older. I have a good feeling about his ability and feel that things will go well. He did tell me at our first visit that he prefers to do the open surgery instead of laparoscopy which is fine with me.
04/26/03 I just realized that I never updated my surgeon profile. Well, what can I say about Dr. Overcash. I am so thankful for the work that he does. I had him as my wls surgeon and I also used him to do my tummy tuck. I guess that should say enough about how I feel about his ability and skill. He is an excellant surgeon and If I needed any other general surgery I would choose to use him again.
Dr. Overcash is great! He is a no-nonsense straight shooter. He has been doing this surgery for 8 yrs. He comleted my surgery in less than 45 mins. He has always answered all of my questions. When I got the flu 5 days post-op, he returned my call late at nite within 10 mins. His staff is very supportive and I recommend him to anyone who is interested in WLS.
4/21/03 We met with the Dr this afternoon. His office is very busy, but very polite. He brought us back with another couple and discussed our risks and benefits . He answered all our questions and gave us the option of asking other more personal questions if we didn't feel comfortable asking infront of the othe woman. It gave us two minds to ask questions. To say that he was blunt and to the point is an understatement , but I was prepared for that. He emphasized the importance of the commitment to vitamins and changing our ways of eating. He said anyone can cheat and make this less effective by grazing. He made me feel like even though he does this everyday he takes each person as an individual and remembers them by name. I liked him and trust him to place my life in his hands in the operating room.
Dr. Overcash is a great doctor. But, if you want someone to sit and "hold your hand" you dont want to go to him. He is very upfront with his opinions and attitude and with the risks of the surgery itself - but that is what i liked about him. He is a very very great surgean, and cares much for his patients. He tries to help all he can with this surgery. He understands that most of us have already tried everything else and that this is a last chance. But he is very set in the way he handles his patients and the aftercare - you do it his way or beware. But, i am so glad that i chose him as my doctor, would never go to someone else besides him. He is a number 10 in my book!
Having to change Doctors.
My Doctor will be W. Todd Overcash in Ocala, FL.
He was direct. No running around the heart of the subject. WLS.
His office is BUSY! Did I say that loud enough. BUSY! Patrice was wonderful!
He does not dress like a Doctor. Very casual. No white coat or anything.
The discussion about risks were very to the point. I have to write a letter stating the benefits and risks that were discussed with him. So does my hubby.
I would rate him an 8 on a scale of 1-10. He does not seem cocky or rude. Good mannerism, very down to earth. I think I will trust him with my life.

My mom went with me for my initial visit with Dr. Overcash. He was very pleasant and professional. I was prepared for him to ask the tough question, Will my husband prepared to raise our 6 yr old daughter if I die? My answer was of course NO, but it's something we've talked about and that's all we can do is talk and pray about it. How do you prepare yourself for that. But Dr. Overcash was very happy my mom was there. They talked more than I did and he explained the procedure and I told him some of the things I have done wrong to get to where I am now, bad eating habits, diet pills, water pills, fasting, and other things that I don't care to mention to anyone else. But he understood and listened and that's what I really liked about him. He took the time to listen to me and my mom. I would recommend him to anyone, in fact, I already have and I haven't even had my surgery yet. I can't think of anything that I didn't like about him. He seemed like a caring doctor and I trust him. He is the 3rd doctor that I've talked to about gastric bypass and I got a good vibe from him and that was important for me. I've read other post where patients said his bedside manner needs improvement, but I can't comment on what I haven't experienced yet, so overall I'm very satisfied with him. His office staff was nice and pleasant but it's clear that they may need more help in there so patients don't feel so rushed, but I'm a patient person so it was okay to me. Everything went well and I hope and pray that it continues.

I am no longer ALLOWED by my insurance (Aetna) to go to Dr. Yasrebi. Aetna now has a bariatric surgeon local on their list of providers so they are refusing to let anyone else see Dr. Yasrebi! So at this point, I am without a surgeon. :(

I had my consultation with Dr. Overcash. He is awesome! He actually brings you back himself, which is very impressive. He is very straight forward and up front about all the risks. The visit is short and to the point. Everyone at the office is very nice and helpful.
