I loved Dr. Overcash immediately! He was funny, easy to talk to and spoke from the hip. I appreciated his candor and honesty. I know some others wouldn't like that, but I would rather deal with honesty than have someone sugarcoat this surgery and it's risks.
His staff seems to be very involved in our approval process and has been friendly and available whenever I have contacted them.
While there is not a formal aftercare program, there is a support group of his patients in my area and they have been very helpful and friendly so far, answering lots of my questions. I'm anxious to move forward in the process and become a post-op baby soon :)
Dr. Overcash is a very upfront person. He doesn't have a GREAT bedside manner, but he's a great doctor! I can take bad manners as long as he's a good doctor and Dr. Overcash is just that!
The office staff is FANTASTIC!! Patrice and Debbie totally went out of their way for me and they truely touched my heart!
I was impressed that he was so down to earth. I have seen him only twice, I always felt nervous until I talked to him then I always left calmer for some reason. Dr. Overcash's staff is awesome. I can't thank them enough for always finding time to answer my questions. If you aren't comfortable with him, then he will tell you himself to find someone you are comfortable with.
I hear he is strict. I'll know soon enough. Aftercare you will learn from the nutritionist and websites and your support group (a must for anyone). Dr Overcash let me know up front what exactly my risks are. I feel I am very comfortable with my choice of Dr. Overcash.
Dr. overcash is very serious, very to the point and very much expects you to do your part he seems very confident of his work but is realistic. my three year old went with me to our first meeting and the first thing he asked was what will happen to her if something happens to you and do you have everything in order. haven't had my surgery yet so i will let you all know what the experience with him is like peri-op and post-op.
I had a good feeling about Dr. Overcash because I had contacted four members of ObesityHelp.com about him and had received favorable reviews. He was easy to speak to. He was very clear in explaining the surgery, how his surgery differed from that performed by other bariatric surgeons, the risks of surgery, the costs, and the expected outcomes. He has a great bedside manner. His staff is WONDERFUL, I can't say enough good things about them.
I liked him.Well I was expecting a little more advice with things I should eat & I didn't know anything! I didn't even know about taking chewable vitamins & he always seemed in a hurry, never no time to talk with me!The office staff is very nice & friendly & have been quite helpful.Just that he's so short, otherwise he's a real nice guy.He does a nice clean surgery, very straight line and all.He did emphisize to me that only liquids,he is quite stern about obeying because he doesn't won't you to hurt yourself!!!!!I really don't know at this point. He was very up front about the risks of surgery!!!!As far as being a good surgeon a 10.But he did come & check on me with his nurse every day while I was at the hospital & his nurse has been very helpful so I'v found out that she's whom I'm suppose to speak to about foods & things & she's quite sweet. He's really a great Doctor just so very busy that he's always on the run.Today is March,8,2004 & as of today I have lost 265 pounds & I thank God for Dr Overcash,he has been a caring and concerned Doctor! He always works so hard always running, but seeming to be able to even call the parients into his office instead of a Nurse which was quite unusal but nice!Hes tough but he cares!
Dr. Overcash is an absolutely WONDERFUL surgeon. He does not "sell" the idea of WLS surgery to you. His attitude that is if you are there to see him, you have done your research and have a pretty good idea of what you want.
He does not sugarcoat the facts and will tell you that with WLS surgery, there is a risk, as with any surgery.
If you want a surgeon that will hold your hand and tell you everything will be great, you might want to keep looking.
He is gets right to the point about the surgical procedures, advises you of the risks as well as the benefits.
My pre-op weight was 600 lbs, and now I am at 308 lbs. I feel that he has given me my life back.
Dr. O has a competent, caring staff. They are always prompt with an answer or a callback if you need to speak with them.
He encourages aftercare, and strives to attend support group meetings and aftercare events with his patients when his schedule allows.
On a 1-10 rating scale, I give Dr. O a 10+ for his surgical competence and a 9 for bedside manner. In short he is pretty darn close to excellent!!!! :)
I am currently trying to get AETNA to approve Dr. Overcash to do my tummy tuck/hernia repair as losing approximately 300 lbs leaves a lot of loose skin.
Dr Overcash , was and still is ok in my book. Ok so he didn't sugar coat anything for me. Guess what I needed a Dr (surgeon) who was good and that he was . The office staff was GREAT ! as a matter of fact I still check in on Debbie she helped me alot and made me feel comfortable, she even check on me when I was in the hospital , to me that's DEDACTION ! Back to Dr Overcash he explained everthing I needed to know and made me understand this was going to be a life change for me. he told me any questions any pains call no matter the time or the day. To me that's a doctor that cares. sure I would have loved him to have a box of chocaltes for me and a rose but guess what I 'd rather have is competence... I have to say after all was said and done He's ok and even has a special place in my heart . THANX DR. O and my new friend Debbie
