Dr. Shin has been completely wonderful to me! I was one of his larger patients going in and thought for sure he would have problems and possibly have to open me up, but he was very successful with the Lap. He has been very honest with me throughout the whole process and yet very caring. He is just an excellent Dr. to have! I cannot begin to explain how caring his personality is. It meant alot to me when seeing him for my 1 week follow up for surgery how sweet and appraising he was and then asked for a hug. Not many Dr's out there have the ability to win their patient's over like his does. I feel like he is a part of my family!
When I first met Dr. Shin I was very impressed. I met him at the same time as about 30 other people interested in having gastric bypass surgery or the lap-band procedure done. My very first consultation with him alone I knew he was the dr for me. He is very thorough and makes sure you know everything you need to know. During my surgery and hospital stay he was awesome. I am so happy I chose him. Any problems I had after the surgery he was quick to call me back within 5 minutes of calling his on call nurse. I am very pleased with Dr. Shin in each and every of aspect. I could never have asked for a better dr.
~My first impression of Dr. Shin was that he was a very caring and sensitive doctor. rn~My impression really hasn't changed he has been great explaining everything to me and also my family when I was in the hospital recovering. rn~I had a bit of a falling out with the office staff but it was a mere misunderstanding of certain things overall I think they are great and are very caring as well.rn~I don't know of anything that I didn't like he was absolutely wonderful like I said above.rn~For future patients its important to keep in mind that he does explain the bad as well as the good and if you truly are dedicated to having this procedure you really need to stick in there and do what he says.rn~Aftercare was explained to me as being the most important part to do what I'm suppose to do and to let him know if something seems even a little off.rn~He does have a structured aftercare program and it was all explained in detail to me before I went in for surgery and when I came out.rn~The risk of surgery was very well explained to me and not just once but over and over again I do appreciate having been warned of everything that might or could go wrong.rn~Dr. Shin in my opinion is one of the best doctors around this area and definitely leads in WLS he is a great doctor.rn~Both surgical competence and bedside manner were great.
I love Dr. Shin, he is caring, understanding, and truly wants what is best for his patients. My first impression during the seminar was that he is very professional, to the point, and won't sugar coat things for you. The office staff is on the ball, they work well as a team and get things done for you. Everything was explained to me in an understandable way, not so much Dr. jargon. I was visited very early the next morning by Dr. Shin just to check in and make sure I was comfortable and the day of my release, he was there early and went over all of my aftercare at that time. I can't sing his praises enough! You won't regret having him as your surgeon and will be in very capable hands in my opinion.

It has been more than 4 years since my surgery, I have had no complications at all, I am a few pounds below my goal, and would still recommend Dr. Shin as a surgeon, he is wonderful in every way.
Honestly I can't say one negative thing about Dr. Shin. He is very dedicated, and caring and skilled in his profession. He never made me feel like a freak because I was fat. After WLS he was diligent in follow up care with me, About a year after WLS I had a gall bladder flare up and Dr Shin preformed my GB surgery as well. I think he is just awesome. He did adress risks associated with surgery and he has the best bedside manner of ANY doctor I have ever met. After I reached Goal I saw Dr Shin and his wife Kim at the ASBS Convention in San Francisco and I was proud to know he had been my surgeon, and I believe he was proud that I was his patient as well.
Dr. Shin is absolutely a wonderful Doctor. My first impression of him was at the seminar, and he really put my fears at ease. He was very passionate about the surgery. Very straight forward and was more than willing to answer any questions that I had. My first office visit with him was great!! I was so nervous, but his kind words and humor set my mind at ease!! The day of the surgery, he assured me that he would take care of me and you could truly and honestly tell that he would!! He is very sincere in his actions and his bed side manner was wonderful!! I have had alot of complications in my first 5 months, but everytime, Dr. Shin has been right there and willing to get me into the office quickly and fix the problem!! In March of 2006, I had to go back into the hospital for the 4th time but this time because I had a perferation in my pouch!! Dr. Shin was quick to fix the problem!! Unforseen events led to me going into Full Respiratory Arrest after the surgery and the first thing I saw when they got me breathing again was Dr. Shin standing right beside me, visibly shaken!! I knew right then that he truly did care for me. When I saw him a week later for my follow up visit, he was quick to come and give me a hug!! He jokes with me still that Breathing is Mandatory!! I love him!! He is one of the best Doctors I have ever had!! I completely trust him and always recommend him when I hear of someone considering the surgery!! I thank God for this man, he has truly been my saving grace!! Without his God given knowledge I may not be here today!!
