Robert Shin Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr. Shin is a very caring and kind surgeon. He has a genuine concern about each and every one of his patient's. As a matter of fact, the entire LifeQuest Team is very compassionate and understanding. Dr. Shin performed my surgery on 8/12/03 and he proved himself to be a very competent and knowledgeable surgeon with a great bedside manner. I would rate Dr. Shin and the LifeQuest Team, on a scale of 1-10, about a 1,000. They are all truly wonderful and I would highly recommend them.

He was so kind and very imformative!! he really made me feel like i could tell him anything when i began to tear up he was very supportive and understanding..he explained the benifits and risk factors of this surgery..he says that i am deffiantly a candidate with my comorbids even though my bmi was not 40 I LOVED him!!
and everyone in the office at lifequest has been nothing but GREAT and SUPPORTIVE!!!
i would recomend Dr Shin to anyone!!

Dr. Shin joined LifeQuest this year, but is a wonderful addition. He makes his patients feel very comfortable both with his knowledge and his ability. He has a wonderful bedside manner and listens patiently to any questions you might have, never making you feel he's in a hurry to get to the next patient.
I would give him a very high overall rating and feel very comfortable recommending him to others.

Dr. Shin is an excellent surgeon. He is very kind and caring. My surgery took around 4 hours due to my liver being extremely enlarged. Since the surgery, I have done everything I am supposed to do and have not eat anything I am not supposed to eat and I have not had any complications. I have been sick a few times but nothing to tell about. Usually if I throw up I feel better. The staff has been wonderful. I haven't really had to call them, but I know if I need them they will be there. I am just so impressed with lifequest. I wouldn't hesitate to do this all over again. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Shin and the Staff at Lifequest. From a rating of 1 to 10 (10 being the best) I would definately give them a 10 (especially Dr. Shin)!

Dr. Shin was very helpful in answering all my questions and seemed to be concerned for me and my health.

My impression hasn't changed at all. He's great.

His staff is one of the best.

I didn't find anything I didn't like about him.

They need to do what he tells them to do.

He says he's with me for life.

He went over all the risks and gave me a chance to ask questions. There was even a pre-op class that I attend and every thing was explained fully.

On a scale of 1-10 and 10 the highest, a 9.

Both are great.

It has been my experience that Dr. Shin is very informative and thorough. He explained to me in detail both risks and benefits of the surgery. I remain impressed by him. the staff at Lifequest are so sweet and helpful to me.
He stresses the importance of followup
care and it feels like he truely cares about us, his patients. The program that he
outlines and is to be followed is very well
organized and easy to understand. They take you through, step by step. On a scale of
1-10, I would give Dr. Shin a 20. While this is my own personal opinion I feel that he lacks nowhere. Both his surgical competence and beside manner are wonderful.

At first I thought dr. Shin was strict.But as got to know him I just love him to death.The office staff is wonderful no matter what it is too little or too big they will answer any questions at ant time as well as Dr. Shin. There is nothing that I dis like about Dr. Shin. He is sweet and kind and has the softes hand on a man I have ever seen.He also cares alot about his patients. He will stress exercise and drink lots of fluids, and especially drink protein drinks and take your vitamins. He will tell you there is a risk but you have that in any surgery. If I had to rate Dr. Shinn on a scale between 1-10 he is a 15. Dr. Shin has both great surigical competence and bedside manners. I know he is my doctor who saved my life.

Knowlegeable, personable. Very honest, and friendly. The office staff is great. I was told all about the risks of the surgery, as well as the benefits.

The aftercare program is magnificent. It includes of course your post-op visits, but also nutrition consults, and a membership to their own gym which is located right in the doctor's office.

My first impression of Dr Shin was positive. He was very polite and caring, respecting me as a person rather than just another 'fat body'. He was extremely knowledgeable about not only the surgery but also pre- and post-op care. The practice he is in- LifeQuest- has a highly structured aftercare program. He wants to make sure you will comply with this program after surgery, and that you are totally committed to making this life changing decision. He did address both risks and benefits of the surgery. I have no negative comments at this time about this doctor or the staff at LifeQuest.

Dr. Shin was very comfortable to talk with and answered all of my questions without hesitation. My initial impression did not change through out the consult. He is a very considerate doctor and has great knowledge of this surgery. Dr. Shin addressed the risks of surgery and the importance of aftercare. LifeQuest offers a terrific aftercare program. The staff at LifeQuest was terrific. From the Physicians Assistant to the Dietician and of course, Dr. Shin. Everyone made me feel very comfortable and I am looking forward to my meeting with Dr. Froese for my psych evaluation so that I may continue on with my goal. I am very pleased with LifeQuest because it offers every aspect of what is needed to be successful with this surgery. They have a dietician, a physical trainer and a psychologist on staff not to mention a gym to workout in. Not sure about bed side manner or competence but I can't wait to find out. (afterthought.. Beside manner was terrific Dr. Shin explained every pain and every thing that he did while I was in surgery. Dr. Shin stresses that this is only ONE part of my new life changes! And encouraged me to use all that Lifequest has to offer to help me with my new way of life.) I would reccommend LifeQuest to anyone considering this surgery. If there was one thing that would be negative it would be that Dr. Shin is new to this proceedure.(afterthought.. Dr. Shin is no longer new to this proceedure! I was his second patiend and he did a terrific job according to Dr. Stickler. I would have to agree!) But, with Dr. Stickler who has preformed over 400 surgeries with him and Dr. Shin's confidence and manerisms, I am more than willing to allow Dr. Shin to preform my surgery.
