First impression was how charming his bedside manor was and how he didn't rush me through the explanation of the process.
The impression remained the same of him but changed of my family practice doc who took off in the middle of the night and didn't even give us a whisper he was leaving. Now we can't find a doctor to write a proper referral that I haven't been able to see Doc Shin in over a year and a half.
I have ended up in the hospital twice, and I believe it is directly related to not being able to see Doc Shin, not being insured to see him. I last weighed 104 when I saw my P.A. as I don't even have a real Doctor except my neurolgist. Both unhappy with my weight. They want me to boost it with protien shakes *sick to death of them all* So substuting it with high starch meals and the sweet daily.
Doctor Shin is a great Doctor and I give him 5 stars.

Dr. Shin and his staff have been so great! I have to make this known for others who are looking for a special and professional staff to provide care for you or your loved one. I am a post op patient of 9yrs. While Dr. Shin did not provide me with my first RNY surgery. He has taken me under his care to help me with a problem that I have been having for a long time that has prevented my weight loss as it should have been with me doing my part by following the rules for the pouch and getting my protein, vitamins and the excerise in. Along with the fact we must stay in touch with our physican and the staff to ensure that our body is healing and all our levels are on track. Just wanted to give the office staff, a great big THANK YOU and also DR. SHIN even thou I haven't had my revision I am excited and alittle anxious too, guess that is all normal for a surgery procedure. Waiting on the insurance to give me the ok! Thanks again. You are the Greatest!
Dr Robert B. Shin is at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division. He did my surgery at CAMC General Division. I can't say enough about this wonderful man and his amazing staff!! I've had some conplications and had to be hospitalized a couple of times from ulcers. He comes in sometimes at 8 or 9 oclock to see you. Poor guy, it seems like he can never make it home to his family!! But what dedication to his patients!!! He's usually just finished up surgeries but he still makes time to come in and check on you and he talkes to you as long as you have questions. He sits on your bed and talkes to you on a level you can understand. His office staff is just simply amazing.!! Anytime you have a question you can call the nurse line and they get right back to you. What a blessing they have all been.
Dr. Shin is a very nice well spoken person that gets straight to the point about my weight problems, I think that he was very informative about how everything should go and how it should end up. My impression has never changed about him, He explained all the risks and benefits of the surgery. I haven't had my surgery yet but I rate him a 8 and I will post about the bed side manner and other stuff after my surgery.... My date has been set for Nov 1st, I got approved on Oct.22 so I got really lucky.... I didn't have to wait very long for unicare to approve my paper work!!!! I had my surgery on monday Nov.1st and I'm home now! I am in alot of pain but the long term will be worth it.... I think that Dr. Shin and his staff are very good and caring, their bed side manner was wonderful!!!!
Dr. Shin was younger than expected. He is very informative. He answers any and all questions. My impression has not changed over time. Future patients should know that he is a fine person and doctor. Dr. Shin has an excellent program. His program is structured starting from the first seminar and continues through to maintaining your goal weight. Dr. Shin's office staff is great. He has very competent staff.
My first impression of Dr Shin was that he was a very caring man who cares about his patients. I have only seen him twice and he was always very informative, took the time to explain everything, and was ready to answer any questions I had about the different procedure. I was unsure which way to go due to health issues and he believes that Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RNY) would be the best solution to my health issues. I have CHF and many doctors do not want to do this type of surgery and would like to do just the band. However, after much research I have come to understand why he chose the one he did. I totally trust his judgment and would send others to him for surgery. His staff was very busy however, always made time to answer questions I had. When I would call, they always help with what ever my questions may have been. I can honesty say that I could not find anything I did not like about Dr. Shin or his office staff. He even took the time to call my home to see how everything was coming and if there was, anything himself or his staff could do to help me get through the process of being approved for surgery from my insurance company. He is great I could not have chosen a better doctor to help me reach my goal of getting bypass surgery and becoming healthy.
Dr. Shin is a very young man. Which I like that in a man and a Dr. He may have me fooled, but I would say he is mid to late thirties....give or take a year...lolrnThe staff is very nice. They are willing to help you and are very understanding. He and his staff want to help you. They are open to questions. They want you to ask anything you want. They try and give you as much information as they can in case you don't ask any questions. I haven't had surgery yet, but I will follow up with my surgery info when that happens. As of right now I just love Dr Shin and his Staff.
My surgeon was great. He's was very understanding of what I'm going thru with the weight yoyo. He told me \"It is now time for you to think of yourself as priority\". He was young , which I liked. He went over the risks of surgery everytime I went , to make sure I knew. He finished my surgery in about 50 minutes which impressed me. The staff at CAMC were great, kind , porfessional , knew the ins and out of what i needed. My experience on a scale of 1 to 10 would be a ten for me, everyone was great. His office staff seemed alittle over worked, and reception greeting was not always greeted with a smile, but I know some can get overwhelmed with their work..
