I went to the informational meeting Dr. Capella has in his office. This meeting was very informative. His office staff is very good but very busy. There isn't anything that I didn't like about Dr. Capella. He does emphasize aftercare. He goes over every risk of the surgery in his informational meeting. My overall rating is a 10 out of a 10. My surgery is set for April. I wish I could have my surgery earlier. I know that he participates with my insurance. I also know that his son, who is his assistant surgeon, does not participate with any insurance. Which is ok.

I went to the seminar on jan 7th and i have to say that i really like Dr.Capella.not only is he very nice and funny but he is understanding and compassionate. DR. Capella sat down with us and showed us the slide show where there was a q&a afterwards. His office staff is very busy and once you get there you feel rushed by the secretaries. they dont really answer your questions and have the bad habit of not calling when they say they will well that was the case with me. ( keep calling eventually you will get a consult very soon mine was a week after the seminar). You should know that the Doctor is very sweet and my dad really enjoyed listening to him speak. He is very intelligent, friendly, very social, and a true professional. He did address the risks, and the actual surgery in detail, there was no confusion whatsoever.WE went to the consult and i had my vitals done ( weight, bloodpressure, then Dr. capella checked my lungs, and my stomach and a small breast exam. while i was changing he stayed with my parents and told them i was very pretty and that he is definitely going to help me. He even made my dad cry lol out of happiness! so far i rate him a 10. Oh and by the way the staff member with the very long hair is so nice, talk to her!

I liked him and his son right off the bat. They seem to geniuenly understand my plight. They did not make me feel FAT & SLOPPY - just fat and hopeful. They were very encouraging and helpful. Although they were VERY BUSY - i did not feel rushed or like an assembly line.

The staff is very overworked but VERY KIND and helpful, pleasant and non-irritated by "dumb" questions.

I recommend the Doctors Capella - as they have done nothing BUT this kind of surgery for many many many years. Also, their procedures are so precise that they open you up and close you in under 1 hr (better than half of the time other less experienced surgeons take). In 27 yrs, Dr. Capella has only lost 5 patients to the date of my surgery, all due to blood clots of persons that were in very dire heatlh to begin with. compared to the others I researched locally of 5-10 per year in the last 2-3 years they had been performing the surgery.

Also, Dr. Capella is a pioneer, developing and re-developing this procedure for 27 yrs. I'd say thats REAL experience. His son who is his asst. surgeon is a plastic surgeon and offers a BEAUTIFUL close up job - and I must say an outstanding tummy tuck!

One or the other of them visited me each day (unhurried) in the hospital and called me several times once I got home. They were great.

I highly recommed them. As you may or may not know, the 20/20 special and the magazine articles showing the woman that lot some 300 lbs and her family and friends that lost 1000 lbs between them were all operated on by the Doctor's Capella.

My uncle had his surgery thru them, my best friend from high school, my best firend in life also had him and her boyfirends brother's wife. We all love him - no one had any complaints or problems. Their experience makes them uniquely qualified for this procedure.

I cant say anything bad about them except that it may take you longer to get an appt, people come from all over the world for the Doctors Capella. They are a blessing from God.

Very competent and serious surgeon. My impewssion has never changed, I have a couple of friends who used him and praise him. However one down fall is the facr that he is not good on the follow up and gives very general guidance after surgery.
If u are looking for Mr nice guy, he is not!
But he is, an excellent surgeon!!!!

My first impression of Dr Capella was that he was very knowlegable and a pioneer in this field. I am very comfortable knowing he has done this procedure 1000's of times. He presents himself as being an extremely confident surgeon, and I will be putting my life in his hands.

The office staff is extremely busy, however they stop and answer any questions you have immediately. Each person I've met, seems highly efficient in performing their jobs.

Dr. Capella came across to me as charming, intelligent, and educated in his field. He has been doing surgury for 25ys, originated this technique, and is the master of his work. I was alittle uncomfortable at first, alot of people in the office, patients, ect. but all moved along smoothly. there is nothing I can say bad about him, he gave me the confidence the reassurance, and the go to get going.. I am just at the point of learning about aftercare.. He has addressed all the risks of the surgery, i would rate him 10, 10 being perfect, in my heart he has the education the knowledge and the know how to get me back to health. Dr. Cappella surgical competence, at this point I hope is 10 wont know to after Jan 23rd...Dr. Cap office staff turned out to be a dream.. very competent woman, know what needs to be done, work together, team of 4 girls, they update, they return phone calls, and keep you hopes up.... melba, linda and all that took part in my journey I can not thank enough...

My nephew used him and was happy with him. I did some research and met him. He looks caring and is competent. He doesn't seem to do much aftercare. Of sourse I live in CT and he is in NJ, so I wouldn't be in any support group anyway.
He was good about answering my questions. His staff is very busy and I have trouble getting hold of them.

Dr. Capella is a very caring doctor. His staff is hard to reach at times, but if you are persistant, you will get thru to them. They are also very caring and very busy working on their scheduled patient cases to get WLS patients the sucesses they dream of.

After going to his seminar today. I am very confident in him and if it were up to me I would have the surgery done tomorrow. I have my consultaion appointment November 19th so I will add more after that til then. As far as now I would recomend him to everyone. I want so much to have Dr Capella do my surgery but when i went for my Consult was told he didnt participate in my insurance and I wouldnt be covered. I wish i would have been told that when i went for the seminar. Now either I wait til i can change my insurance at work which wont be until March 03 or find another surgeon. I was upset the whole way home from Dr Capellas office.
