Dr. Capella was warm, and pleasent. His staff is nothing but helpful once you get a hold of them. Be persistant! I would and have referred to him. Dr. Capella makes it clear it's important for him to follow you after the surgery as well as before. I would definately rate Dr. Capella a 10.
Post-op
Dr. Capella was just as warm after my surgery than before. He was very caring about how I felt. Of course, the competance of any doctor out ways bed side manner, but let me tell you it makes it a heck of alot easier if the Doctor does have some bedside ediquette and Dr. Capella is one of those surgeons. I recommend him highly.
My first impression of Dr. Capella is that he is confident and kind. From reading about his experience I know that he is one of the leaders in his field. A good combination for a doctor in my opinion. His office staff seems very efficient and also nice. I enjoyed the seminar, which answered most of my questions. I did so much research prior to seeing the doctor that I really didn't have many questions. I just want to get started. I wish that the wait was not so long to actually have surgery. But, I will wait for Dr. Capella, the experience he has in this procedure is what I want in a surgeon.
Dr. Capella is THE BEST in this surgery. It is very important to find the best, as there are plenty of docs out there doing this surgery that are "Fly by night" general surgeons, looking to cash in on what seems to be easy work for them. The truth is, your life is at stake! Dr. Capella, just about wrote the book on this procedure, and has been doing it longer than almost any Doc you look for. The only thing I did'nt like, was that I have to pay almost $5000, since BCBS/PPO is not in his network. Which is really strange, since they are the biggest insurace co. in America. But I'm still very happy, with my choice.I'm 5 months post-op, down 149 lbs.Was 487, now 338 and counting!
I was very pleased with the care and treatment I received from Dr. Capella before as well as after surgery. He has a great bedside manner. I knew after attending his seminar that he was going to be my surgeon. I was very impressed with his surgical experience and his track record for low death rate/low complication rate. His office staff is very busy but was helpful during the insurance approval phase. I was well prepared for the surgery. I was very pleased with my choice.
Dr. capella is very educated in his field. I felt very comfortable in his office. His office is very busy: we had to reschedule our 1st appoinment due to an emergency he had to treat. but, that's o.k. I know he takes emergencies very serious.
Dr. Capella's office staff are on their toes. They are all very nice.I had the pleasure to talk with Melda, during the long wait to get approved. She was very helpful to me.
I have researched this surgery for over a year
and have always come back to the name of Rafael
Capella. Well I first went to an informational
meeting that he hosted, and answered every question
we had.
Next I went to a consultation with him
and had a thorough medical examination. He sat
with my husband and myself and answered every
question we had. He is very personable, although
very busy.
His emphasis on aftercare is that for the rest
of my life, he will be involve. Because he wants
his patients to always be in touch.
He was very truthful about the risks involved,
but he also stressed how much better I will feel
after the surgery.
I think the only negative I have, is that he is
very busy and hard to get to, and his office is
also a very busy office.
My rating of Dr. Capella, so far from 1 to 10,
10 being the best is a 10.
I will come back once post-op and let you know
how that goes.
I thought Dr. Capella was very nice and actually funny. Everything went accordingly I'm guessing. I didn't have any problems with insurance or anything of the sort. Linda was very nice. Actually everyone isn Dr. Capellas office is nice. I went to vist him on a Wednesday night for consultation and that was actually a big class of people with him showing the procedure, before and after pictures and someone who had the suregery was there answering questions. My second appointment was to take pictures to send to the insurance co. and to get my checkup, afterwards they told me they would call me with a urgery date. It took them a week to call with a date. I think his office staff is very competent, they are great with explaining everything to you. And I would rate Dr. Capella and his office staff a 10 out of 1-10.
I went to Dr. Rafael Capella's informational session. Dr. Capella gives a little informational type lecture on the procedure that is guided by a power point presentation. He talks about the pros and the cons and also has some of his past patients there to talk about their experience with WLS. I was very impressed with what he had to say and I love the fact that he barely bypasses any intestines. Dr. Capella also allows some time for questions at the end of the session and answers all of them as truthfully and sincerely as one would expect. I think that Dr. Capella seems like a great surgeon. He has the most experience in the tri-state area and also seems to be warm and caring. I feel that his combination of experience and compassion is what I am looking for!
