'Dr Ameri is awsome

avatar

My husband and I had our first meeting with Dr Ameri on Friday 9/2/05. The office staff were so nice and professional. We saw a nurse who reviewed the general process and was there to answer any questions we had. Informed me what I needed to do to get the surgery approved and what I needed for the second appointment. (a lot of homework!) We did have to wait about 1 hr to see him but once it was our turn I saw why- he takes his time! He told me alot about the surgery, why he believes in the surgery and how rewarding it is for him and the patients. He explained the procedure in detail to me. (I originally thought I would talk to him about the Lap Band surgery but found out he only does the gastric bypass) He said there were more complications with the lap band.
Now I just need to do my homework and decide if this surgery is for me and do what I have to to get the ball rolling!
I would recommend him to anyone!

POST OP 12/12/05 Surgery:
Very passionate and caring in helping people. He listened to me about my fear of being nauseous and vomiting- Not on second of nausea!! Still would recommend him in a heartbeat. THANKS DR. AMERI!!!

He is so sweet and laid back. He takes his job very serious, but still knows how to crack a joke.
My first appointment was in June. I have been going to the meetings every month. The more I get to know him, the more I like him.
The staff is great. They make you feel very welcome when you walk in the door. They are very personable.
They are a very strict group, but in a good way. It shows that they care. On a scale of 1-10. I rat ethem a 10. I have bragged about this team to my friends and now 2 of my friends are going to see him.

I sceduled my 1st appointment in August 2003 and Dec. 2003 was my first meeting with Linda, Louise and Dr. Ameri. Since I had my contact all with Linda up until that point, she was just as nice and comforting as she had been when I first spoke with her. Louise is the one that runs the show and I had weighed in and gone over all of my expectations, questions and concerns with her. Louise is the best - if you don't know her - you are less of a person for it. She is really very strict and seems hard as nails, but it is only for your own good. After Louise's military training(lol...you have to be there to see for yourself...hehe), you finally get to meet Dr. Ameri. He is an absolute sweetheart and I went from a whirling head of information to sudden calm and tranquil state when he entered the room. We chatted a little bit and then went over some of the things that i had just gone over with Louise - my first appt. was done and now I had work to do! Because of my crazy life, it took me 11 months to complete all requirements (and quit smoking) and get a date of 11/29/04. That day Louise and Dr. Ameri made everything so easy - surgery was a breeze (well for me - I was sleeping....hehe) and c'est la vie - surgery complete and feeling fine. In my opinion this team receives an A++++++ in my book in all aspects.

Very honest and straight forward.

My impression didn't change over time.

His office staff is very supportive.

Nothing.

Follow exactly what the surgeon tells you.

Yes.

Very much so.

On a scale of 1-10 I would rate him a 9.

They are both very important components.

Dr. Ameri is a wonderful person. As a doctor and a person. He has a wonderful bedside manner and anybody who has him as a surgeon is very lucky. His staff is very helpful from the very beginning. Linda explains everything you need to know and she leaves you with know questions. Louise is Dr.Ameri nurse and she is also his assitant during surgery. She also is very helpful every step of the way. The office is very strict with what you must do before and after surgery. It's a long process before surgery and it's only because they want you fully prepared when the time comes for the surgery. They provide monthly support group meetings which helped me the most. His aftercare must be followed or you will have issues and he highly emphasizes that. I fully trusted Dr.Ameri and his staff and I'm sure all his patients feel the same. In the hospital right after surgery I thought the method of pain relievers would be something other than a needle. Byt the time I was done I felt like a pin cushion. Also after leaving the hospital I thought I would follow up about a week after surgery but I was scheduled 2 weeks later. I thought that was too long.

I liked Dr. Ameri right away. Extremely sensitive and aware of the trials and tribulaions of someone over weight and struggling with many other medical issues. He was empathetic and really appeared to look into my eyes and see me. Not one of many other people, but just me.

His office staff are very accomodating and their support groups have many didfferent professionals speaking each month. I do wish the groups were smaller, perhaps many people would contribute and ask questions if there was a smaller group.

Both medical competency and bedside manner are important to me.

Dr. Ameri is what I would call a gift from the Lord. The moment I meet him, I knew that I trusted him. I know that he will always be honest with me. He told me to drop ten pounds, or he would not do the surgery. I agree with that. Afterall, if I can not do that how can I follow the program for the rest of my life. His nurse, and office staff are so very kind. They do not rush you, and are always there to answer a question. I don't even have a date yet, but I have called with many questions and comments already, and they always talk with me. I reminds me of why people go into that field in the first place. TO HELP OTHERS! His nurse will speak to you first, and explain many things to you. Then Dr. Ameri comes in and explains the surgery and even tries to talk you out of it. He is just a wonderful man. I am so grateful to have found him. On a scale from 1 to 10, he is a 10! I will write more after surgery. They are a very busy office, but very caring.

August 2002, Well, I can not say enough about Dr. Ameri and his entire staff. I am almost 4 months out now, and have lost over 70 pounds. Dr. Ameri was there for me during and after my surgery, as well as Louise. What a great group of people. I had a wonderful recovery, and have had no problems since returning home. God Bless Dr. Ameri.

March 2003, Wow, I have been gone for along time. I am doing wonderful. I still can not say enough about Dr. Ameri and his staff. I have had a TT also, and that went fine. I never thought I could be happy about my size, but I am ok now. What a great feeling!! I have lost all the weight that I need to, but I would like to drop 10 more just for me. TO be honest, I don't really care if I do. I happy now! Thanks Dr. Ameri for allowing me to follow my dreams again.

I was very impressed with Dr. Ameri when I met him. He was exactly what I expected, since I had done a lot of research on him and had been following the testimonials on this website. I feel he is very very competent and I can trust him to perform this surgery on me. His staff is nice, they have been pretty nice to me when speaking with them. There is nothing that I did not like about Dr. Ameri or his staff. I think he has a great follow up program and stresses strongly on how important that truly is to the success of the surgery. I think Dr. Ameri's surgical competence and bedside manner are both excellent as the two componets together are key to a successful surgery and recovery.
