My first impression of him was, he looked very clean, handsome, and proffessional. My impression after speaking with him for a few minutes got even better. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure to me, and asking me what made me come to this choice. I felt well informed, and think he is extremely copetant.
The office staff! First and formost, I'd like to remark on the first person I talked to on the phone, Linda, Secretary. She was very kind and patient and spoke with me for a lenghty period of time, describing what happens, and what other types of things the doctor does. First call was great!
The nurse, Louis was kind and explained a lot to me before I saw Dr. Ameri, she helps him during surgery. She did emphasize to me several times the importance to remember this is a permanent change.
I can't say there was anything I didn't like about Dr. Ameri, he was great.
Dr. Ameri does spend ample time, without rushing you out the door. You may have to wait, and you will definitly have to be patient getting your insurance info. submitted because of how backed up the paperwork end of it is.
We mostly talked about the actual surgery.
The risks where also outlined by his nurse, mostly in saying that there are risks associated with any surgery. Also, he did make sure to answer my questions about if they had complications during surgery, there is a possibility they may have to do it open. But it is a very slim chance.
I would rate him an 11 on a 1-10 scale. He is highly regarded in his feild by his colleages and he seems very well informed in his specialty of Laproscopic Surgeries. I am very excited about having him do my surgery. I think his bedside manor is excellent and his manner is lovely. I look forward to a long surgeon patient relationship with him. He also does the abdominoplasty that I may want after a year or so out.
I am stating all of this as my own personal opionion and I can't say how someone else's experience may differ. I was generally happy with all aspects of his practice.
I met with Dr. Ameri yesterday April 12th, 2002. I thought the day would never come! He was absolutely wonderful. Very kind and caring. He explained everything in detail, to me that's very important. Too many times doctor's visits are 10 seconds and that's it. His staff was very helpful. They gave me my packet of info and went over it step by step. Dr. Ameri and his nurse made sure I understood that this is a lifetime decision, not just another quick fix. Every question that I asked was answered in detail. Now I have to work on my insurance approval. Once I send the doc's office the info they need they will forward it on to the insurance company. It's nice that I won't have to handle that part of my journey. Having a doctor's staff behind you to help is better than going one on one with an insurance company. Overall, i would say that I hit the jackpot when I chose Dr. Ameri.
I have had my initial appointment with Dr. Ameri and was very pleased. He took the time to answer any questions I had and explained the surgery in full detail, including the risks. He did not talk down or judge my decision. He has a very small practice and belives the one-to-one is very important for patient recovery. His nurse, Louise and especially his office manager, Linda, were wonderful. So far I am very impressed.
My first impression of Dr. Ameri was great, I felt as though he did not rush me with all my questions, he answered any and all that I threw his way. I was very comfortable with him from the beginning, he is very knowledgeable about the procedure and explained it in terms that "we normal people" can understand. His office staff is very very busy, getting even busier by the day I think (I guess that's a good thing...right?)He doesn't take any unnecessary risks with his patients (take it from me!) If you live in MA, I would highly recommend Dr. Ameri (I would recommend him even if you're not in MA, but don't know how insurance stuff works)
Dr Ameri is a kind and compassionate man, I have seen him work with others and know of his bedside manner and his surgical skill.
His office staff is excellent, I can't say enough about them. Linda and Louise are wonderful people, and anyone would be lucky to have these angels in their corner.
He is very honest with you about what to expect and how this Surgery can only improve your life to the fullest.
He strongley emphasizes after care support and exercise.
The hospital I am having this at is putting those things in place now.
All the risks, I'm an LPN and it makes it that much easier to understand all that ias necessay to care for myself after surgery.
Dr Ameri receives all A's from me!
surgical competency and compasssion for what the patient is going thru is very important
I changed from Dr. Bruce Thayer because he only does the surgery open, and I'd prefer laparoscopic. I saw Dr. Ameri on 7/3, and I really liked him. I have an appt w/the nutritionist on 7/9, then the psych eval on 7/17. I also have to do a 5 yr weight loss history and get a thyroid test. Once all of that is done, they'll submit the paperwork to my insurance. Once approved, they said it takes ~2 months to get a date. Definitely on my way now. :)
