Dr. Ameri is the best...he was very informative, and very understanding of the way that obese people are treated in the world..he always treated me with respect and did not treat me like a child that had done something wrong. My primary care mentioned to me the Dr. Ameri was too nice to be a surgeon because surgeons usually did not get personal with you just did the surgery and that was it...not Dr. Ameri. My opinion of him has never changed...if I had to choose again I would choose him in a heart beat. His office staff is wonderful...always helpful and attentive and very respectful. There is really nothing I can say that I did not like about him. Just speak with him ask him anything he feels there is no such thing as a stupid question and he will take as much time as you need to get your questions asked..I was never rushed out of the office. Aftercare is very important to Dr. Ameri and his staff they are right on the ball making sure you understand what it is that you are suppose to do and make sure you do it...yes he does have a structured aftercare program in which you MUST follow and if you do...then you should not have any problems. Dr. Ameri went over all of the risks up to and including possible fatalities. Rating Dr. Ameri if on a scale from 1-10 I would definately rate him a 9.9 because no one is perfect but he is close...I believe surgical competence and bedside manner are both important especially when dealing in the field with obese people...the world can sometimes be a cruel place when it comes to being obese so having surgical competence to be able to help people in this way and just treating people like a person not a disease.

I do not know where to begin. My surgeon and his staff have been exceptional. They have had and still have the patiens of saints with me. I am such a chicken. I want to be skinny but am so afriad of everything. I put my surgery on hold the 1st time in 2004 after the death of my 1st born (he was only 19), then again in 2005 when my youngest was having a lot of psychological problems associated with the death of his Nana; Poppop; and brother. I am going all the way this time I promise and I feel so good about it. My sister and my neice had the same surgeon and say he is wonderful, caring and compasionate as is all of his staff.

I think the world of Dr Ameri. He cares deeply about the success of his patients. He and his staff seem to work tirelessly to make sure all are doing well. I also like the fact that he is very conservative in his before and after instructions. I am confident that my new pouch will heal well. I also like the fact that he does his surgery laproscopically, and has done this kind of surgery for many many years.

I LEFT AMERI IN 2013, I was VERY wrong about him, all he cares about is $$$ and would never even tell me what amount he was filling my band and it was like pulling teeth to even get a fill, I was referred to a new Dr by my PCP, Dr Sandor, still out of Winchester and saved my LIFE when my band slipped because Dr Ameri put it in WRONG!!!

Dr. Ameri and his staff were superbly competent and supportive throughout the process. For various reasons (none denials) I took from 2003 to 2007 to finally go forward with this.rnrnThey have worked and reworked the process so carefully over the years that everything was very manageable and proceeded according to plan. rnrnI couldn't rate him or the people in the practice any higher. The nurses are especially knowledgeable and helpful. I liked seeing the same people in the hospital.rnrnI liked being out before reaching the OR. Seeing it at the time of my hysterectomy was very scary and overwhelming. Dr. Ameri has a great relationship with everyone at Winchester Hospital.rnrnNothing negative to say. If I really had to dig deep, I don't like getting shots in the stomach, even though they don't hurt any more than having blood drawn in the arm, and are medically helpful for preventing clots. This is so minor as to be negligible.rnrn

My first visit with Dr. Ameri was at his support group. I was completely amazed at his honesty, compassion and true sincerity. I had been to many other support groups in the Boston area. Most were informational explaining the actual surgerical procedure, the surgeon goes through a slide show for about a half hour and the meeting is over.rnDr. Ameri's group is for two hours. He explains the surgical procedure as well as all the pre & post-op information. He explains everything in detail good and bad. He doesnt sugar-coat it and doesnt leave one stone un-turned. So you leave thinking do I really want to do this? He answers all your questions and also has patients there that had the surgery anywhere from 2 weeks prior to 2 years and more. rnThen I had my first appointment in Dr Ameri's office. He is just wonderful and so are all of his staff. He is very interested in you as a person and your decisions. He is truly wonderful and I believe a gift from God. I am so grateful I have found such a great surgeon.

Dr Ameri and Louise, his nurse, are so personable and wonderful. They put me at ease right away and took such great care of me. They never made me feel that any question was silly. They did all the leg work with the insurance company. They submitted a complete package and a week later I was approved. I am very grateful for the care they gave and would recommend them to anyone.rn

No matter when you have a question Dr. Ameri or Louis is there to answer it. The whole staff offers complete support before and after and Dr. Ameri and Louis went over all the risks and the procedure to make me very comfortable with my decision. I cannot say enough about his practice. I would recommend them to anyone.

I felt that Dr. Ameri was very professional and knowledgeable yet kind and friendly. My first impression of him was when I went to see him with my partner. I was very direct and asked him a lot of questions about mortality and his track record. He was equally direct in his answers and I never felt he thought he needed to say anything but the complete truth. That made a very good impression. When I went to see him for myself I also met with his nurse Louise and over time I got to know others in his office. They are all very supportive and friendly and direct. Now that I am post-surgery, I continue to feel the same way about him. Just before surgery they and I realized that I had not done the preparation just right. I was embarrassed and worried that the surgery would not go ahead. Both Louise and Dr. Ameri scolded me a little about it and that didn't feel good but they were right and everything turned out okay. I have worked in hospitals and been the point person in a family member's surgery. I have had experiences in the past of arrogance and too busy attitudes that can be there even when a surgeon is a very skilled one. I think Dr. Ameri is an excellent surgeon and I also suspect he is a really fine human being as well. So far I haven't see even a hint of arrogance. He is a good fit for me.
