After meeting Dr. Gandsas for the first time I turned to my mom and told her that he seemed like a very strict and professional man. He had never operated on an 18 year old before me and I thought based on my first impression that he would never change his mind to consider me for the operation. Luckily he did! Once we had a second chance to talk at our first official appointment, I realized that he was a really great doctor. Not only did we speak on a surgical level but also on a personal level. Instead of feeling overwhelmingly nervous to meet a surgeon who might perform a procedure that risked my life and trying to defend my age as not being the stereotypical 18 year old, I felt comfortable and safe with my surgeon. The office staff was amazing! They constantly would check up on me and even helped push Dr. Gandsas to consider me despite my age. I truly feel that I have met people who I can rely on at all times and know that they honestly care about the patients. They are some of the most caring and insightful individuals that I have ever met. I would want all future patients to know that Dr. Gandsas is wonderful! He is blunt, but he is wonderful! He doesn’t try to sugar coat the procedure; instead he makes sure his patients are more than informed about the procedure and the involved risks, while adding some humor to the situation. Don’t be caught off guard despite his humor, he has a blunt style to make sure you really understand the procedure and potential problems. He literally is the type of surgeon/doctor that stays on the phone till 3am to make sure everything is okay during your hospital stay. Dr. Gandsas is not the type of surgeon to just come to your room and run out; on the other hand, he was very involved and took time to look at the tiniest aspects. One of the most unique things I noticed was the sense of humor he can create based on a procedure of this magnitude. Patients are fully aware of every aspect while being able to laugh at his jokes. I never thought I would be lying in a hospital bed and still be able to laugh about my “new stomach” being “an egg, egg and a half depending which market you shop at”. Unlike other procedures, when you leave the hospital it’s not over. The care and concern from the staff continues and with structured appointment dates everything flows smoothly. I know that I have gained an additional support system from Dr. Gandsas and his staff. Overall I am more than thankful that I had Dr. Gandsas as my surgeon because he is professional, funny, honest, and kind; all the right mix for a procedure like this!

My first impression of Dr. Gandsas was a good one. He explained to me about the surgery in great detail. He explained the risks and he told me briefy about his surgeries history. When I left his office I knew that I wanted the surgery. I love his staff because their are very patient with you and they take time to listen to your concerns. His staff is very friendly and Eileen His secretary called my insurance and fought me until they gave in. They are very compassionate. Dr.Gandsas and his staff is great people. They make sure you keep your appointments, they are flexible. Also they have support groups meeting every month. They encourage you to drink and eat the proper foods. I rate Dr. Gandsas overall 8 with 10 being the best. I think surgical competence and bedside manner is great because you like to feel comfortable about having the surgery.

Dr. Gandsas is an extremely knowledgable, skillfull and compasionate physician/surgeon.I remember one office visit I had with him before my surgery(Dec 30th) when I had both my 3yr old and my 15 month old there and he had his nurse get some of his son's toys out of his office for them to play with!!! That was great and sure impressed me!! His office staff is fantastic too!! They are personable and knowledgable as well!!!All prospective surgical candidates are required to attend pre and postop support group meetings which are very informative and helpful during this whole lifestyle make-over. Overall, I could'nt have chosen a better surgeon----Dr. Gandsas' surgical competence and bedside manner are both impecable!!

I am a 62 yr old woman who thanked God for Dr. Gandsas and his staff. I had problems with high blood pressure, sleep apnea and high cholesterol. I was recommended by Dr. Morgan my heart doctor. Going to meet him was when I met my second husband. From preop to postop he and his staff completely dedicated themselves to the patient welfare. The staff are always friendly, professional and always available. The preop and aftercare are beyond words. You always have an assurance that there are greater things to happen because you are given the facts. Dr. Gandsas makes sure you are well educated concerning all aspects of this program. He is committed to his patients. They always want to know what is going on in your head and your body. I never had an side effects form the surgery such as vomiting or diarrhea. I am now 6 months post-op and still not having any problems. This is because I did what I was told to do. This is one of the best decisions I have ever made. This surgery has given me a second chance in life, to do the work God has called me to do. I can walk and exercise daily because my energy level is so much higher than before the surgery. There are things that I used to find difficult to do that have been made easir. I have very little scarring. Nancy, our angel our nurtitionist has made a difference in how I think of food. She always has an attitute that is pleasant, kind, caring and compassionate. She just knows her job 150%. The group sessions are wonderful, very informal and educational. They are always there for you beofre and after surgery.. Finally there is no greater doctor anywhere that can compare with DR. Gandsas. Everyone form the waiting room to group sessions speak so highly of Dr. Gandsas. I guarantee you, if you try him you will never be the same.

Who would not be impressed with Dr Gandsas? During the first class I attended I found him to be extremely professional, educated, honest, and down to earth. From pre-op to post-op, he is beyond thorough and completely dedicated to each of his patients. The office staff is wonderful. They are all friendly, professional, and available. The best thing about Dr Gandsas is the complete program. The pre-op, aftercare, and follow-up are awesome. The entire program, and everyone's dedication to your success, gives you the assurance that you are definitely in the right place. There is no sugar coating your role and responsibility! It's not magic. It's work, and they make sure you have the education and tools to succeed. Nancy, the nutritionist, has changed my life! After decades of dieting, and collecting the newest and latest bits of info, Nancy finally gave me a big picture that I could understand and apply. The closest thing I have a complaint is that the office wait can be rather long. However, it is a great opportunity to talk to other pre & post-op patients. Once you meet with Dr Gandsas, you will appreciate that no one is rushed through. Dr Gandsas is competent, kind, thorough, and dedicated. He, and his program, both rate above and beyond A+.

The first time I met Dr. Gandsas, I was impressed. The way he greeted me let me know that everything was going to be okay. He did not look at me like a person with 3 horns growing out of my head just because I was nearly 300 pounds. He saw me as a person with a medical issue and he was ready to help me with that issue! Prior to the surgery, Dr. Gandsas requires you go to 3 support group meetings, and there is a whole batch of pre-op testing that has to be done! At the support group meetings, they discuss the surgery, possible complications, after care, as well as nutritional info, etc. He stresses the importance of continued follow-up after surgery. He says" you are married to your surgeon for the rest of your life. If you leave the area, you must find a new husband!" While in the hospital, just post-op, he saw me everyday, encouraged me to get up and walk, etc. He was helpful in answering my husband's questions, and alleviating his concerns! I had absolutely no complications, and have been doing very well since. I attribute my success to the best surgeon around! And his staff is just as great as he is! The are all special people, and I feel blessed that I came across the group of people!

From the first day that I met Dr. Gandsas I was very impressed. My feelings got stronger when I went to his classes and met his staff. You feel like you are part of a family. Eileen,Karen,Nancy and his entire staff make you feel important.
Dr. Gandsas cares about his patients. He comes all hours of the day and night to follow up on you while you are in the hospital. When you go home you are called to see how you are doing. I knew that I could call the office whenever I had a question or concern. My calls were always answered in a timely fashion.
Friday,March 18,2005 will be my one year anniversary. I still go to the monthly meetings. I look foward to my office visits. I call Dr.Gandsas whenever I need advice or have a concern. I think that Dr. G and his office staff are amazing. I would highly recommend him to anyone having him as your surgeon. He is kind, caring and compassionate and these are things you hardly see with doctors today. He has wonderful beside manner. His office staff is pretty prompt in returning emails or frantic phone calls. They are there for you day and night. My impression hasn't changed any since the day I met him, still is awesome. Works great with your family members to keep them informed of your status while you are on the table to ease there minds as well. He has a structed aftercare program of routime bloodwork every three months after your initial post op meetings. He required us to attend at least 3 support group meetings with various topics such as risks, plastic sx after, and psychiatry. Overall I rate Dr. Gandsas a 10+++, his office staff a 10. He is a great all around doctor and is highly recommended.
