'He was knowledgeable and showed confidence at the seminar I attended. He was very professional in all aspects. He kept my family informed several times during the surgery. He met with them personally following the surgery to discuss the procedures that were done. He took extra precautions when I had a temperature and did not allow me to leave the hospital until everything was to his satisfaction. He even checked on me in the middle of the night
'Dr Gandsas is a very consumate professional in the Bariatric field. Well versed and educated in this field for which I'm profoundly grateful for. Dr Gandsas along with his staff provided me seminars and and reading materials that were very positive in my decision to have surgery (RU-EN-Y). rnrnOne of the more notable aspects of my surgery was Dr Gandsas helper. BARRY. Barry the Robot. It is my hope Dr Gandsas will continue working with BARRY and other surgeons and Dr's will follow this tremendous technology.rnrnWho ever reads this little article do try to get in and talk to Dr Gandsas and go to the siminars he and his staff do present. I'm sure you will be very pleased and comfortable with the presentation and Dr Gandsas and his staff and BARRY the ROBOT. Just ask Dr Gandsas or his staff about BARRY. They will tell you.rnrnI would like to say a little about the staff of Dr Gandsas. This includes Karen
'I have met both Dr. Gandsas and Dr. Li. I was highly impressed with both their sensitive side and their willingness to stress both the bad and the good possible effects that the surgery does have. They are open and honest and remain open without the sugar coating you might get from a doctor that just wants to "make the sale". I believe that they truely want to see everyone that they perform this on succeed. They really care
I first met Dr Gandsas at a bypass information seminar. The seminar was on complications of gastric bypass. Dr. G. went over every aspect of the surgery and each type of complication that could arise. He was very candid and provided statistics regarding the procedure nationally as well as his personal statistics. Dr G. stressed that if you went thru with the procedure that it was a life time commitment not only by you to maintain the vitamin and supplement schedule but also with the surgeon. You must see your surgeon at all regularly scheduled visits for the first year and then at least once a year for the rest of your life. Dr. G. said you are basically “married” to your surgeon and if you move you must find a new bariatric surgeon.
From that first meeting I felt that Dr. G. was genuinely concerned for his patients and wanted them to be completely informed and to succeed with their healthy lifestyle goals.
The entire staff, has been extremely considerate of my feelings and concerns. They were always available to answer any questions via phone, email and in person.
My surgery was uneventful and I was up and walking around shortly after leaving the recovery room. Dr. G. came to check on me and see how everything was going. Sometime late in the evening I got a surprise visit by Dr. G. using his Robot “Bari”. Bari is a new tool that Dr. G. uses to allow him to have more contact with his patients on the floor, while he is in his office or at home. It was great, instead of just seeing your doctor during rounds once a day I was able to see Dr. G. and he should see me (it has a video screen and a camera) and we could talk about my progress several times a day.
My entire experience with Dr. G. and his staff has been nothing short of wonderful. I would recommend him with the highest degree of confidence. I am sure he is the most loved Dr in all of Sinai Hospital. Not only for the new lives he has given to so many patients but because he is a fabulous, caring terrific human being.
4/4/06 I had my surgery last Monday the 27th of March and it was performed by Dr. Gandsas, I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Gandsas and his entire staff. My surgery went very well and my hospital stay was very good. I especially was impressed by "Bari" the Robot, he visited me twice while I was in the hospital. This is an Excellent way that you can talk directly with and see Dr. Gandsas and he can do the same!!!!! He visited me on Monday evenng about 10:30 p.m. - don't know too many Dr's. that do that, but having the Robot he came right into my room and we discussed an issue that i was having...
I had my 1st. post-op appointment today and it went well and I am well on my way to my new life!!
In January, 2006, I had my first appointment with Dr. Alex Gandsas. The office staff was wonderful. When I met Eileen, Paula, Nancy and staff I was so surprised to learn that so many of them had had gastric bypass surgery. I was amazed! I wanted to see before and after pictures of them. When I met Dr. Gandsas my first thought was "He looks too young to really know what he is doing." But, I remembered what I had read about his training and education prior to my appointment and felt relieved because I was sure that I was in safe hands. My surgery date was set for March 22nd and I was ready to change my life for good! On March 22nd, Dr. Gandsas spoke to me prior to surgery and came to see me in the hospital on so many occasions. The neatest part of my hospital stay was the robot that Dr. Gandsas used for after hours. This robot came in the room and had Dr. Gandsas' live. He could see me. He spoke to me and asked about my medical concerns. He could even see everyone in my room visiting me. Whatever I said to him, he could hear me...it was like he was in the room with me. This robot did not take away from my bedside manner...I felt like Dr. Gandsas cared about me. Finally, I don't have anything negative to say...this was an awesome experience!
He was very good to me and helpful. My impression of him has never changed. The office staff is amazing always there to answer any questions you might have. There is nothing that i don't like about my doctor nothing at all. That he is the very best and only doctor that they will need for the this surgery. After surgery is a plus and he emphasize a lot on excerise. Yes the hospital has there own gym program and letters monthly for seminairs and movies. I love Dr. Gandsas, every time i see him i am so enlighted. He is the most excellent in his profession. I just wish that everyone who is having this surgery would use Dr. Gandsas. You need both surgical competence and bedside manner.
DR. GANDSAS WAS VERY PLEASANT WHEN I FIRST MET HIM. WE HIT IT OFF BECAUSE WE SHARED THE SAME BIRTHDAY AND THE FIRST THING HE SAID TO ME WAS " I'M GOING TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU BECAUSE WE SHARE SOMETHING IN COMMON". HONESTLY SPEAKING , HIS WHOLE STAFF WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. EVERYTHING WAS EXPLAINED IN DETAIL. HE EMPHASIZE HOW IMPORTANT IT WAS FOR ME TO FOLLOW UP ON ALL OF MY SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS. TO FOLLOW ALL POST OP DIRECTION AND I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. HE GIVES YOU THE BEST HOSPITAL ROOMS, VISIT YOU SEVERAL TIMES A DAY IN PERSON OR BY ROBOT. I WOULD RECOMMEND ANY PERSON THAT I MET THAT WAS INTERESTED IN THIS SURGERY TO GIVE DR. GANDSAS OFFICE A CALL BEFORE CONTACTING ANY OTHER SURGEON. THE WHOLE EXPEREINCE WAS VERY SATISFYING AND A LIFE SAVING EXPERIENCE FOR ME
