On my first meeting of Dr. Gandsas and his staff, I was very impressed with their efficiency and professionalism. The practice all issues of the surgery and kept me very well informed of all of my choices and responsibilities in the process. Dr. Gandsas made sure I was fully aware of everything that was going to happen and because of this; many of my concerns were addressed prior to my surgery. The overall focus on nutrition and just what to expect after surgery was very beneficial to me. Dr. Gandsas skills were wonderful as I didn't experience a lot of pain after my surgery and it was very easy to move back to my normal routine. I am really pleased with Dr. Gandsas's care as well as the care provided by his staff and look forward to the future.
I was very pleased with this surgeon and his office staff. They where kind and very helpful in working out all the specfics.rnrnDr Gandsas discuessed with me all the details of the surgery and what would have to happen before it occured. He also discuessed what he and I would be doing after surgery. He talked about the risks and his history with the procedure as well as the complications that he has seen so that you are prepared in case something does happen.rnrnNancy, the nutionist who works with Dr Gandsas, has a great presentation on what you need to do before surgery. and what you need to do for the first month after surgery. Soon I will have the session on what to make sure of when it comes to solid foods. She has group sessions for the important steps and one on one sessions to talk about how your doping specficlly.rnrnOverall I would rate Dr Gandsas and everyone that works with him excellant. I was very happy with him and everything that happened.
Like most reviews I have read, this one will also rave about my surgeon, Alejandro Gandsas! I think he's the greatest! I had my surgery 5 months ago and I am doing great. My wife says I could be the poster child in support of this procedure! I have had no surgical complications at all, something I attribute to Dr. Gandsas's outstanding skills as a physician/surgeon! Although he has a thriving, and deservedly so practice, he and his staff always made me feel that I, the patient was important to them, they always listened to what I had t o say and took the time to answer my questions! I never felt rushed, nor did I spend inordinate periods of time waiting to be seen, often being seen within a few minutes of my arrival. His Pre-operative seminars were informative, inspiring and well-prepared me for what I could expect from the surgery and what I would have to do to insure that this tool (Gastric bypass) could help me achieve, which for me at the age of 56 was a second chance at life; a healthy long life. I have done far better than he or for that matter, I ever expected in a such a short time. Then there are the post-operative seminars. These too are well presented by him and his staff providing me with very useful information to help me make the most of this tool! I write this as my wife is recovering in the bed next to the chair I'm sitting on here at Sinai. I have done so well and she was so impressed by Dr. Gandsas and his staff, that she had him perform a bypass on her yesterday! I can't think of a better testiment to and endorsement of Gr. Gandsas's skills and of his staff than that!
My husband just recently had bypass surgery with Dr. Gandsas. We found him to be easy to work with and he carreid a very good reputation for his work. rnrnEven thoug hte process took 6 months, we felt very prepared for the surgery and the aftercare. Shawn did very well, despite a long surgery. He was discharged 2 days after surgery and has done well. rnrnDr. Gandsas was very good after surgery. Despite his hectic schedule, he personally came to the room twice a day to check on Shawn. And when he couldn't come himself, he came on his robot. We had heard about the robot, but had not seen it in action until about 11:00 pm the first night after surgery. Shawn had gotten out of bed for the first time and had one of his incision sites begin bleeding. The nurse had rebandaged and when he got up to get back into the bed, the bleeding started again. rnrnTo us, it seemed like a lot of blood, quickly covering the floor, his gown, etc.. when about that time in rolled Dr. Gandsas' robot, Bari. Dr. gandsas was quickly able to assess the situation having conversations with Shawn, the nurse, and me (Shawn's wife). He called for the surgery assistant and then directed him exactly as to what to do with a sucture Shawn needed to stop the bleeding. rnrnIT was very reassuring to have Dr. Gandsas there on the computer screen seeing everything that was happening and being able to take care of it quckly and effectively.rnrnOverall, I would give Dr. Gandsas the highest rating possible and would recommend him to others. In fact, he is going to be doing my surgeyr next week.
My experience with Dr. Gandsas and his staff was very pleasant. My surgery went very well and I was pleasantly pleased that I only had to stay in the hospital for 1 day. The evening after my surgery Dr. Gandsas paid me a visit by way of a robot. Now, at first I thought maybe I had too much pain medicine and I was dreaming. However, I thought that the robot was neat. Talk about being in two places at the same time. Technology has come a long way. I would recommend Dr. Gandsas to anyone that is looking for an excellent bariatric surgeon.
My first impression of Dr.Gandsas was serious. But thank God, that was exactly what I wanted. My impression did not change over time b/c he is very serious about his work, patients, and their care. I do not know my Dr. on a personal level to say what I dislike, I was there for surgery and needed (in my opinion) the best weight loss surgeon...and I got what I wanted. Future patients should know that he means business and he expects you to do everything he tells you to do. He will give you all the necessary tools to make this weight loss surgery a success, it is up to you to do as needed. You must take an active role and responsibility for you care, including reading up on your surgeon and utilizing all the tools you are giving. Dr.Gandsas has a very structured but easy to follow aftercare program. He addressed the risk of surgery with me personnally and he also made sure it was reinterated in classes that I had to attend to make sure I understood the seriousness of the choice I was making and the dedication I needed to correct my helth issues. Overall on a scale of 1 to 10,,,,,10. I have had other surgeries, and have watched as my family and friends have surgeries and I have NEVER experienced a doctor checking on you 3 times per day on your care from others on the hospital staff and to see how I was recooperating. Oh, he has a robote that checks on you!!! So he is even checking on you while he is in his office and at home and you see Dr.Gandsas' face on a monitor as the robots face!! It is the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed....technology is crazy!! He checks your drain, insizions, he can actually see you and you can see and talk directly to you. If you have taking the time to read this, the last think I want to leave you about Dr.Gandsas is this, his surgical competency are the best of the best, if not number 1 in my book, I needed the best surgeon I could get my hands on, and thank God I did. I did not need a friend, I have plenty of them, but he is the only weight loss surgeon I have. I am only 2wks out and I would do it again w/ only Dr.Gandsas. Beleive me I did ny research for doctors in Maryland, and put it this way, if I did not meet his qualifications for him to perform my surgery, I would NOT get it done.
Dr. Gandsas and his staff cares about your success. I first realized this at one the free monthly bariatric seminars his office offers. You have to go to 3 sessions before you can even make an appointment with him. This session cover every issue involved in the Bariatric process, from what happens in the surgery, to the different complication and how they handle them, to life after surgery. When I finally made an appointment, Dr Gandsas was very professional and honest. He told me up front that I needed to lose 100lbs. He then went into the risks of the surgery, and made sure that I understood what they were, and what course of action he and the staff will take if I ran into them. He also told me that this process isn't easy and it would take a lot of work on my part. Over time I have learned to count on this honesty. If something was wrong he was the first to say it. His staff is the \"BEST\". Any question or problems you have they are there to help and /or listen.
My first impression of Dr. Gandsas is that he is extremely professional and detail oriented. As I continued to interact with him it became apparent that my first impressions were accurate. rnrnThe office staff is awesome . . . they are a real team . . . supportive . . . friendly, yet very professional. The staff is accessible via phone and email and they return my emails/calls very quickly. They ALL are superb.!rnrnI would rate Dr. Gandsas as one of the best especially with the use of the robot. I felt extremely comfortable knowing that even though it was after hours, Dr. Gandsas was there overseeing my recovery in the hospital. I think the use of modern technology makes Dr. Gandsas' practice a cut above the rest.rnrn
I first heard about Dr. Gandsas from a good friend of mine. She had Gastric Bypass 2 years before me, and had done a lot of research. Dr. Gandsas and his staff were the best team that she had found. They are extremely thorough from the very start. The seminars, tests and nutritional information that they provide helped me to prepare for my surgery and everything that was to come afterward. I have not had any of the bad side effects because I am following their directions. Everyone on the staff is great to work with. It is a pleasure dealing with them. One more thing...while I was in the hospital Dr. Gandsas visited me via a robot. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. The robot allowed Dr. Gandsas to be in his office, but talk to me and my nurses through the computer screen attached to the moving robot. With a web cam, we could see each other, I could ask questions, and he could check on my progress. All doctors should have access to this kind of technology. It saves time, and the doctor really can be in 2 places at one time!
