I choose to use Dr. Capella because three of my family members had used him for their surgeries. All three of them had only good things to say about him and the results were breathe taking. I completely trusted Dr. Capella and from the moment i meet him I knew he truly cared about his patients. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer all of my questions. I also received aftercare from Dr. Joseph Capella(speciality-plastic surgery) as an asst. surgeon. He also made a great impression and took very good care of me. I already know if i need any plastic surgery, he will be the one. Thanks to Dr. Capella, I now have a new view on life and the way I'm living it. I am truly greatful to him for a wonderful job. Anyone considering this surgery, I recommend him 100%.
From the first day I met Dr Capella at his info meeting I knew he was the surgeon I was gonna go with. He answered all questions and most of all he didnt try to "sell" the procedure. He laid out everything that could go wrong and made it abundantly clear how serious the operation was. BUT......He also made sure that I realized that if I didnt do this for myself, that there wouldnt be a myself in a few years---which I already knew-.....WHen I went for my consult things were a bit different. My apt was at 10:45 and I didnt see the doc till 12. But I would definitely rather my surgeon has alot of patients in his office than none... The office staff was probably the biggest surprise. Even though they were swamped they were still the nicest staff Ive ever been around at ANY doctors office. Dr. C was very flat out and to the point since basically everything was covered at the info meeting. Any questions I had were answered thoroughly. From what Ive been told aftercare is very high on his list but I havent experienced it so ill have to wait for that one. Overall I give him a 8 out of 10. Simply because of such the long wait, other than that I have no complaints so far.... BUT I havent had surgery yet so Ill keep you all posted!!!!!
Dr. Capella seems like a very warm and caring person. His staff was really helpfull even though my appointment was scheduled on a day which was just supposed to be for patients having follow-up care. I'm very, very nervous about having the surgery, though I think it is the right thing to do. I was scheduled and approved before with a different sugeon, but got so stressed, nervous(it was right after 9/11)that I couldn't stop vomiting every morning. I ended up cancelling the surgery 21/2 weeks before the date. The other surgeon got so mad at me he yelled on the phone until i was in tears. I feel much more comfortable with Dr Capella. He seems really easy to talk to.based on my research he seems to be one of the best in the area for this type of sugery. He addressed all my questions and would have talked to me as long as I wanted. I just now need to get my act together and get all my documentation so his office can send it in for insurance approval.
The first time I met Dr. Capella was at a seminar that he requires people to go to before they see him, and my impression of him was that he was on the money, and he knew exactly what he was talking about, I was so impressed by him that I made my first appointment to see him before I left that seminar. His son also works with him, Joseph Capella, Joseph is a plastic surgeon and does all the procedures with his father. I am only post-op for 6 days and as far as I caan see Dr. Cappella and his son are very good aout everything, if I needed them they aare there. His office staff is very well educated and the girls in his office are always there to help. The only problem I seem to have and are having is the aftercare, I think it needs to be much more detailed out and they should give you a sample menu with guidelines. There was never a secret about the surgery or the procedure, everything was up front and layed out for you right at the first visit.
I rate Dr. Capella and his son as top rate wonderful men, they were a blessing sent to me, and both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great.
<font face="Arial">I found him to be very impressive and experienced. The office staff was very nice and helpful. When I was in his office for the consultation, a few people who had come out of his office asked me if i was considering surgery, I said yes. They explained they had the surgery by him. They said I will be in the best hands. I have heard so many wonderful things about Dr. Capella.
he was very understanding and knowleggable. as of yet he still makes me feel very comfortable.the office staff is nice as well and understands how hard this may be for you.He is very serious about aftercare and that you follow it to the letter. He has nutritionists and numerous support groups throughout the week. he goes over all the risks with you ans answers any questions you may have. he has both surgical competance and i have not had the procedure yet but im hopoing for great bedsaide manner as well.
sometimes his staff can be a little short on the phone but overall they were very helpful.
My 1st and only visit to Dr. Capella office was very nice. The staff was efficient and friendly. Everything went smoothly and quick. I was out of the office within an hour.
Dr. Capella is a very pleasant man, with an easy going manner. He took the time to explain a diagram of the bypass. He made it seem so matter-of-fact. He also explained the possible negative effects.
All in all, I feel very comfortable with him and very confident in his skills.
I know this to be true since my sister had the same surgery done on 7/10, w/no complications and so far very good results.
The only unfortunate thing w/Dr. Capella is that he is not in Etena network, so I am going out-of-network, which will be costly, but I believe he's worth it!!
This surgery is a revision of a VB which I had done about 4 years ago. My 1st surgeon DR. Greenbaum, although pleasant enough, lacks options that Dr. Capella offers. Dr. G does not do the RNY. By far, Dr. Capella's skills are much more extensive.
After months and months of research, I found that
Dr. Capella is the most competent bariatric surgeon
in the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT).
I had a few consultations with different
surgeons and chose to go with Dr. Capella
for his experience. I could have chosen
from over 20 in-network surgeons and chose
to go out-of-network with Dr. Capella.
I know my life is in the best hands it can
possibly be in.
My first impression of Dr. Capella was
excellent and that has not changed in the
least! His office staff is GREAT - especially
Jackie (she handles insurance approval and
surgery scheduling).
I would have chosen Dr. Capella even if he
had a horrible personality...I am not looking
for a husband here - lol. I chose him because
he is competent and that's that.
He is really a very nice person which is
just a plus...he has a great sense of humor!
I have done tons and tons of research.
I even went as far as checking out if he
had any malpractice suits filed against
him in NJ and NY...and there was one in
NY but it was discharged. I even asked him
about it during my initial consultation.
He did not deny it. He said with the amount
of surgeries he performs, there is bound to
be ONE person who think the Dr. did something
wrong. I agree 100%. We are all aware of
the risks BEFORE hand and should make a
decision accordingly.
They start telling you about aftercare and
how important it is during your initial
consultation. He says to call him with
ANY questions, concerns, etc.
I already knew all the risks of the surgery,
but for the record, he did go over them with
me.
Out of 1 - 10, I would rate Dr. Capella a 10!
