I met Dr Waldrep at a Informational Meeting. I was so glad to meet him (alot of people do not meet him until about 15 minutes befor surgery) He is so down to earth. He was VERY good on explaining everything and, He stood behind until everyone's questions were answerd. I was very Pleased with what I saw. I strongly beleive that I will be in GOOD hands.
Tara, who schedules new patients, is fun to talk to, and took lots of time to answer all of my questions. So far, so good!

The office staff are very pleasant to deal with, even after answering the same question for the umpteenth time that day. They are very busy, however, and if they say they'll call you back about something, take it to mean that you'll have to call them repeatedly to follow up. They just can't move at the speed of an anxious pre-op!

Dr. Waldrep is quite the wiseacre and is quick to laugh. He's a lot of fun to talk to, and you get the impression he really enjoys getting to know you and guiding you through this surgical process. He makes himself available to answer questions constantly, whether by e-mail, in person, or through regular online chats on his website, salsa.

I also have great fondness for Cindy, the insurance coordinator, who was new when I was applying for approval. She worked very, very hard for me, and never, ever, gave me the impression she was tired of hearing from me when I bugged her constantly. When she finally was able to "make the call" to me to tell me that I was approved, I cried so hard I could hardly talk with her. She got emotional too, because it had been such a frustrating few weeks. Truly a delightful person!

Topping it all off, Dr. Waldrep's nurse, Beth, is fantastic. I have enjoyed my visits with her thoroughly, and although she's the one who has the awful job of pulling those danged drains, she did it with lots of skill and concern for what I was feeling. A big hug from her after it was all over was the very best medicine!

Well FINALLY, I got my doctors receptionist to understand that I won't be able to get an appt. with Dr. Waldrep until SHE sends my preop info to the insurance company for a review and authorization number. So at least that part is on the way. I stood in the office until she got through to the insurance and got it underway.
I WAS in Dr. Waldrep's office the other day and they were VERY NICE to me and helped me to understand a little more of the "jargon" needed to get the insurance underway. Tomorrow I see Dr. Easterly for my pre-op psych evaluation and my nutritional evaluation.
I have been working on this process since October and I am so excited that we are this far in the process!
I first met Dr. Waldrep on 11/15 at my group consult in Roseville. I found him to be extremely competent, knowledgeable and very personable. He conducted the entire 3 hour consult, and was still answering questions going on 4 hours! He completely set my mind at ease that I had chosen the right surgeon. My surgery (lap RNY) was performed on 2/6/03 by Dr. Waldrep and Dr. Suh, and it went very smoothly. I also felt the care at Sutter Roseville to be excellent, and the Dr.'s visited me daily. I would have gone home after 2 nights, but since I had a slight temp and live over 2 hours away, they kept me two more nights to be safe. They even ran a couple more tests just to be sure.
Anyone selecting these two fine surgeons for their WLS should have no fears or doubts whatsoever. They are the greatest.
Dr. Waldrep is a kind and highly skilled bariatric surgeon who completely empathizes with the plight of the morbidly obese. Since he PRIMARILY performs weightloss surgery and had done over 200 operations by the time I had my surgery with him (Aug 02), you know you are in good hands. So far he has never lost a patient.
The only negative thing I could possibly think to say about him is that I didn't get to meet him until about 10 minutes before my surgery. This is not uncommon for his patients nowadays. I have met him several times since then and my opinion of him has only improved on each occasion.
You really couldn't ask for a better surgeon or a better hospital experience (at Sutter Roseville).
First Impression: Young for a surgeon but very professional and understanding of his patients.
My opinion has not changed over time, and the more people I talk to who have also had him for a surgeon have had nothing but good to say about him.
Office staff is wonderful with the exception of one that didn't feel was extremely helpful which I won't name. The woman who handles the claims and scheduling is Robin and SHE ROCKS! She has been so patient with all the calls that I have made and is very prompt about returning phone calls.
After care is handled by Dr. Waldreps partner Dr. Suh who I believe will also be present during surgery.
The risks of surgery are a reality and neither doctor try to sugar coat it. This doctor and his staff emphasize the importance to treat WLS as a tool and not quick fix.
There is a structured after care program.
I have nothing to compare him to since I am going with the first surgeon that I "interviewed" but I would give Dr. Waldrep, Dr. Suh both 10's and the office staff a 9.
