Dr. Lane is now at the Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green Ohio.
I first met Dr. Lane at a seminar in Toledo right after he moved to the BG area. I was very impressed with his quiet empathetic demeanor. This seminar group was quite vocal and asked many personal questions, he took time with everyone and explained everything very well. I asked him his infection rate, and was impressed that he knew it, and was willing to share. The other fact that impressed me is that he had done over 1600 cases and not lost a patient! My impression of him has not changed, I like him, his assistant Amy, and his office staff. Everyone has been more then helpful in getting any questions answered and problems addressed.
They utilze a team approach when you go for a visit, you see the doctor, the physicians assistant and the dietician. They are all very knowledgable regarding the surgery, pre and post care. The first night in hospital, I know the nursing staff must have been in contact with him a great deal as my blood pressure was up. I believe I saw him 4 times that day! I cannot really find anything negative to say about him, I felt very comfortable with him performing the surgery and in my care.

Surgery went well without complications but his incision left a wide, gathered scar. He never examined me post-op. I was seen by a P.A. at my 1-week visit and by an internist at 4 weeks. My next two appointments wer scheduled with the surgeon, but he failed to keep either appointment, saying he had an emergency. I never bothered scheduling another.

When I first met Dr. Lane I was very nervous and concerned. I had not done any research and went to the first meeting blind. He gave me a lot of info in a short amount of time. He also told me about the OH website and message board. When I went back I knew what to ask and what concerns I had to share. He answered them all. He gave me great advice. My surgery went just like he predicted. No problems thank the Lord. The Barix Center had great after care and training. All of the nurses and therapists were well trained and went out of their way to help. I loved the hospital and the people there are great. Dr Lane is a great surgeon. He is to the point and firm. This could intimidate some people. I found it refreshing.

Brian is an outstandingly kind, compassionate and competent human being and professional.

My impressions of him only ever got better!

adequate

He was more personally interested in a variety of "my" issues and life pursuits.

He's great!
Totally interested that I do the best with exercise for weight-loss maintenance.

Yes.
Thoroughly.

EXCELLENT!

ALL of these are indispensible in a competent professional. None ought be sacrificed.

Dr. Lane is a very personable physician. He is knowledgable about the RNY procedure and I had every confidence in his ability before, during and after the surgery. The staff at Barix (BTC) are both kind and patient with you and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The aftercare program is comes complete with 3 wk, 6wk, 3 mo, 6mo, and 1yr ckeckups. They provide access to a nutritionist and monthly support group meetings.

HE IS A VERY GOOD DOCTOR. i LIKED HIM WHEN i FIRST MET HIM AND HIS BEDSIDE MANNERS ARE AWESOME. I DIDN'T FEEL ONE BIT NERVOUS ABOUT MY SURGERY, BECAUSE HE MADE IT COMFORTABLE TO BE THERE AND MADE ME FEEL AS IF I WAS HIS ONLY PATIENT.MY IMPRESSION DIDN'T CHANGE OVER TIME I LIKED HIM FROMDAY ONE. THERE WASN'T NOTHING THAT I DIDN'T LIKE. HE IS VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD AND HE WILL TELL YOU OFF THE BAT IF YOUR ELIGIBLE FOR THE SURGERY OR NOT AND HIS MAIN FOCUS IS EXERCISING. HE DOES EMPHASIZE ON FOLLOWING HIS STRICT ORDERS FOR THE FIRST FEW MONTHS AND EXERCISING THAT'S HIS BIGGEST ISSUE HE'LL GET ON YOU ABOUT. THERE WASN'T A REAL STRUCTURED AFTERCARE PROGRAM JUST THE FOLLOWUP VISITS. HE EXPLAINED EVERY POSSIBLE PROBLEM THAT COULD ARISE WITH BEING OBESE AND SURGERY. THEY ARE SOMETIMES NOT A SURE FIT BUT HE DOES HIS DAMNEST TO HELP THE PATIENT AND HE EXPECTS YOU TO HELP YOURSELF. i WOULD GIVE HIM A 10 ON MY SCALE. ITS BEEN ABOUT A YEAR SINCE i BEEN IN TO SEE HIM. BOTH IS VERY EXCELLENT.. GOOD LUCK

Dr. Lane (who is leaving Barix to teach advanced Laproscopic Surgery) is a WONDERFUL Surgeon. I was very much at ease the moment I met him and my impression never changed. The staff is very friendly, but they do get very busy, and although they were never rude, I got the feeling on two visits that they wished their day was over. Dr. Lane was very specific about the risks of surgery and what it meant to be a candidate for surgery. I felt very secure in his care and would have to say that overall he has my complete trust and confidence.

I was impressed with Dr. Lane from the first time I met him in Sept 2003 at my daughter's initial consult for her surgery which was in Dec. 2003.
He is concerned about your well being and uses caution in being sure you really are a good candidate for surgery if you have any health issues at all such as my asthma, diabetes, etc.
He did my surgery 6/10/04 and sad to say, is leaving Barix Clinics (formerly Bariatric Treatment Centers) in Michigan this month. I know he had a great aftercare program from my daughter's post op care after Dec 2003.
He will be teaching for a year and I hope he returns to surgery after that as he is one of the best!!

I have spoken with and met with 3 other doctors already about the surgery, so it should be interesting to see how Dr. Lane compares. I am hoping and praying that Dr. Lane will be able to perform the surgery, and as soon as I meet with him (on April 12th), I'll update this profile!

UPDATE 4/12/04
I met with Dr. Lane today and I feel very comfortable with him. He treated me with respect, and I really appreciated his professionalism. He seems to truly care about his patients, and I now know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the best surgeon for me. He put a lot of the worries and second guesses I had to rest.

UPDATE 6/14/04
Now that I have had the surgery done, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Dr. Lane was the ABSOLUTE BEST person to do my surgery. He is so super thourough, and he doesn't leave anything to guess. He caught something after my surgery that most surgeons would not have seen. He may not be the class clown (like I tend to be), but that is just fine with me. The way he explains things - it really puts you at ease. My entire family was super impressed with Dr. Lane.

Dr Brian Lane was wonderful. I was impressed from the very first time I met him. He is a very compassionate and caring doctor. He takes time with his patients and never rushes you. I went in for my initial consult with a 4-page list of questions about the surgery. He answered all my questions plus more. I was scared going into this process but will never regret what I have done..
