I began the process by attending the informational meeting in July 2002. My psychological evaluation was done on August 30th and finally on October 29, 2002 I had my initial visit with Dr. Bruderer. He answered all of my questions and I immediately felt comfortable knowing he would be performing my surgery. The wait for approval from my insurance company was within a week. What a relief it was to receive the letter saying I was approved for surgery! My surgery is scheduled for March 18, 2003. It's been a long process. It's now the end of January and I'm beginning to feel the excitment building within me as March approaches.

When I went to his office I was taken right in and one of his nurses took my picture and weighed me.. I then went to meet him he came in the room all smiles and handed my my consult letter. He shook my hand and was very freindly. I felt like I could talk to him about anything he was very understaning and he told me that he was 95% sure that I would quailify, I must say that I got excited (but tried now to act to silly).
His nurses and office staff where very nice and freindly. I quess I didn't find anything I didn't like about him. He told me how many years he had been doing the surgery and he even told me that he did loose one patient due to othjer complications not known prior to surgery. He told me what to expect after wards. I told him I had concerns of my hair falling out and loose skin and he told me that the more portein I could get in the better and that I would need to work hard on excersising and that with my body stucture he felt that I would be ok and not have that much of a concern.
He also told me that I am an ideal patient and that he felt that I would do well during and after and could expect to loose my goal and possibly some more. I think that he is a wonderful man and I am so glad that he offers his patients a new lease on life.
Thank you Dr. Bruder

Dr. Bruderer is not just a surgeon who performs WL surgery he is a surgeon with a program including a support group, and a mandatory meeting explaining everything good and bad about the surgery before your first appointment with him. His staff is hands on and very nice. You can call them with any question or concern and they will always return your call. Their patients are much more than a file. Dr. Bruderer is straightforward and made me feel like I am in very good hands. One bad experience I had was when I initially sent in my medical records the office was supposed to call me when they were received but no one did. I called them three weeks later and they told me they had not come. It turned out they had been misplaced.

Dr. Bruderer is simply amazing, and so is his wife, Margie, who is also his surgical nurse. His clinical nurse, Judy, simply doesn't give up on you even if it takes a long time to reach you at work! And the support groups are wonderfully reassuring. The emphasis is consistently on professionalism with optimism for the new person you will become. In fact, when my husband asked if my demeanor would change after surgery and the weight loss, Dr. B quite unabashedly told him that I would "get more aggressive." He meant that my self-esteem would be better, and I would feel like doing more, etc. It was really cute, and it made me feel very good- he and his staff really, really try very hard to understand you, and to help you through the process. My surgery is scheduled for 7/15, so I will update this more later! So far, my personal experience has been nothing less than wonderful.

Dr Bruderer is a very straight forward and kind physcian. He is very thorough in his explanation of the procedure and the potential risks as well as rewards. Judy, his nurse, is extremely helpful in helping with the necessary paperwork for insurance, as well as a reassuring voice in the weeks of wait for approval. I would highly recommend him for a surgeon. I had my surgery March 13th, 2002, and have currently lost 55lbs. I was the second patient he did with the laporscopic procedure in Bismarck. I feel GREAT!!!

I have talked to his nurse, Judy, over the phone. She is very nice and helpful! I will be attending Dr. Bruderer's information session tomorrow and find out more about him and the procedure he does.

Dr. Bruderer was always very friendly and willing to answer all my questions. I even called him on a saturday night to ask about a concern I had and I expected to get a rude man on the other end (becuase that has been my experience with other doctors in the past), but he was very nice and polite and willing to help. Dr. Bruderer is very frank about all aspects of the surgery. Dr. Bruderer's bedside manner is wonderful and I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Bruderer is very kind - and he has a great sense of humor, which really helped me to relax. He is very straight forward and explains things quite well. His nurse was also very nice and friendly, as well as sympathetic - I was very nervous and was also appalled when I had to step on the scale. My blood pressure, which is always very good, shot up quickly! Dr. Bruderer emphasized aftercare extensively and made it clear that I had a lot to do to make this work. He addressed the risks, but most I knew from this website already. I am more concerned about the risks I face if I don't have this surgery.

I first met with Dr. Bruderer and his wife Margie in July of 2001. Dr. Bruderer is an exceptional man. He tells you how it is and he also gives you the risks as well as well as the benefits right up front. Dr. Bruderer tells you the importance of follow-up care. I am looking forward to having Dr. Bruderer do my surgery on December 18, 2001. After meeting with Dr. Bruderer and his wife, I would not want any other surgeon operating on me. I can only thank him in advance for giving me the chance at a new and longer life. GOD BLESS!!!

Dr. Bruderer is a very kind man who is very sensative but open and honest about the surgery and being overweight-his staff is wonderful-they are willing to answer any questions openly and will call you just to see how you are doing and if not-they have the time to talk to you and answer any questions-What I think is also great is they offer a support group for their patients monthly.
