I was very impressed with Dr.Bruderer.I feel his staff is very understanding, and eager to answer any questions. I think knowing that staff had the surgury helped me..Italked to them and listened to them..
He stressed that this is a major surgury,so consider well.Yet him and the hospital will do their best to take care of me..I feel he knows what he is doing, why he does this, and that he will take care of me. His preop conference is the best..He goes over everything. I mean everything.. and he made me feel comfortable..
Anyone that is able to have him as a surgeon, is one lucky person.. like me..I am not at the aftecare point.. so will have to wait on other comments until then.

I had my surgery on April 12, 2004, and he was every bit as professional as I thought he would be. He met with me several times each day to update me on his progress expectations for that day. (you know, what I should be eating, exercise level, etc.) An overall wonderful surgeon.

I went to his informational meeting, where he goes over the different types of surgery, risks, costs, etc. He is very plain-spoken, and he is obviously a skilled doctor. He made us laugh, and I became completely comfortable with the thought of trusting this man with my life. He also invited us to attend his post-surgery support group, which is run by his wife, who is also his nurse. I have heard nothing but good things about him from his other patients on this site and also from out in the community.

My first impression of Brent Bruderer was a little shakey. Just because at the informational session they didnt allow us to ask him quiestions. ( I later discovered after the session the staff hangs around and helps us out with quiestions ) My impression changed after my first visit with him. He came into the room and I had my 4 month old son with and he did not seem to mind. In fact he talked to him and cooed with him which scored points for me!! He got right down to telling me the general info about what he thought we would do with the surgery, and he in no way made me feel rushed. In fact we small talked about my Primary Doctor who he knows! He gave me the very informative binder with all the information I needed about the surgery and pre and post orders. I think new patients should know that you can be absolutely honest with him. He knows I have battled with depression my entire life, and we talked about how wls may affect that. He is very kind, and you can tell he gets personal satisfaction knowing he has helped to give someone there life back. He has an excellent support system already set up for his patients after care. He emphasises that after care is crucial to long term success. He does have a structured aftercare program sith support meetings, as well as in the guide he gives you it includes web addresses to supportive communities.( none better that this one~!) He went over every possible situation or risk of having the surgery as well as in his guide he has a chapter dedicated strictly to possible complications, including the names of them, signs of them, what to look for, how to take care of them, and what to do and how to contact him in an emergency. I Havent had the surgery yet, but would rate him a 10 so far for how helpful and dedicated he is to helping others.

My first Impression of Dr Bruderer was that you was very knowledgable, professional, and courtesy.

Dr Bruderer often says "It is my way or no way", or "We are doing this my way" Which to me was very mean. But if you want this surgery to work you listen to the professionals, and that he is. He does not take the time to listen to your complaining and crying. "This is the way it is".

Now after the surgery, I would not want it any other way. He is a wonderful doctor, with a very high success rate. I am talking very high. I am glad that he is the surgeon that in close to my home town, North Dakota.

My Lap RNY took him 45 minutes , no complications, and doing wonderful, feel wonderful, and losing well.

His program at Medcenter One, Bismarck, ND is very exceptional. Wonderful care in the hospital by the nurses and CNA's.

Very knowledgable and very compassionate

My first impression didn't change

Dr Bruderer's staff was great

Least like about Dr Bruderer...Nothing, he's great

He's a very compassionate and caring doctor

He stresses the importance of taking all of your supplements and makes sure that you get into or on some sort of exercise program

He has certain eating guidelines to follow after surgery as well as the supplements that you need to take every day.

Dr. Bruderer went over all the risks of surgery in his initial consultation as well as the pre-op meeting.

If I had to have gastric bypass all over again,I would have Dr. Bruderer do it again.
He's great!

Surgical competence and bedside manner were both great!

I first saw Dr. Bruderer in his information session. I thought he was very down to earth and had a good sense of humor. He gave us a lot of information and made sure that everyone knew the complications and risks. His nurse Judy was very nice and always answered all of my questions in a timely manner. Both Dr. Bruderer and Judy stress that the success rate depends on what I do after the surgery. I feel that they gave me the tools I needed to be successfull in my weight loss. I felt like I couldn't have been in better hands during and after my surgery. My husband was very pleased with the care I received also. My experience was very good. I would recomend him to anyone. These are my personal opinions and there are major risks in this and any surgery.

I have seen Dr. Bruderer & must say I feel totally confident with him. I have checked with others that he has done surgery on & all are doing very well. I would recommend him to anyone. He is very straight & clear of what has to be done. I am very grateful to have found someone like him. He cares about you & informs you of everything you need to know & do. His nurse Judy is his wife & she is helpful also.
