May 27, 2008 - Today I met Dr. Bruderer for the very first time at the informational session. He seems like a great doctor. I know he has a ton of experience and discussed that at the meeting. I was pretty impressed with him and he made us all feel very comfortable with being humorous as well as getting to the point of what he needed to get across to us. He had 2 of his staff members there with him, who which have all gone through weight loss surgery themselves. I thought that was awesome, because they will definitely be able to relate to us when we experience this or that. I think that he will have a great bedside manner, which I have only experienced from one other doctor in my past. I won't discuss all the docs I have dealt with that are just there to pop in and say as quickly as they can because they might become deformed or something standing next to you. He seems to have an excellent before and after care program set in place. All risks of surgeries were discussed. As well as risks that could happen down the road, with staples, etc. I would rate this doc right now an 8/10, and in my book that is high, after all the jerks I have dealt with especially over the last 3 years with all my other medical issues. I believe this doctor knows what he is doing, has excellent surgical competence and will have an awesome bedside manner. I am looking very forward to working with this doctor.
Doctor Bruderer is an Earthly Angel, he saved my life last year in June. I was at the point of zero quality of life, and in whatever amount of time he worked his miracle my life was transformed to a life filled with desire to live! Since surgery I've been insulin free, my blood pressures are stable without the need for pills. I can walk without the aid of an oxygen mask. I have been able to go to the floor and play jacks and ball with my five year old grand daughter! I sought employment and obtained a job this week on Tuesday, after being disabled for nearly twenty years! I can walk my dog on a leash and enjoy the beautiful out door scenery, prior I only left my house for emergencies and never for anything else.rnI could give my loving daughter back her life, she is free of me being dependent on her! Thank you so much for my life Doctor, words are so cumbered for how I really feel, you saved me from drowning in my own sorrow.rnI will pay this forward kind man as I can never pay it back! And to all the wonderful tax payers that never get a hug for keeping social security going, on behalf of all of the medical benefits that helped make my surgery possible God Bless each of you, you are as vital as an organ donor! Thank each and every one who helped me help myself! I plan to work toward a career in Social Services and when I obtain my goal I will give out all the smiles and kindness with unlimited dignity, as that's what my surgery has obtained for me! rnLove everyone daily you'll never regret it.
I very impressed when I first met Dr. Bruderer. He took the time to make everyone know the facts about the procedure and if you had any questions he answered them.rnI thought he addressed the issue of the risks in having the surgery done very well. Most doctors either sugar coat it or just tell you what you need to know. Dr. Bruderer was very honest about what could happen if something went wrong. I was thankful for that even though I dont like to hear things like that.
Dr. Bruderer is very honest, straight, to the point, yet has a nice bedside manner. He does not take \"pity\" on us, he is not all \"warm and fuzzy\", but he is very knowledgeable and has the record to prove that he is good at his job. After going to St. Alexius for everything I switched to MedCenter for this because Dr. Bruderer was \"the surgeon\" to go with. He is the one that in that rare occasion something goes wrong you WANT him there as opposed to the less experienced surgeon.
My first impression of Dr. Bruderer was that \"Wow, he really cares\". He has a great personality, seems very confident, has trained with the best, & would be an excellent choice for a surgeon. His staff also seems awesome. They really keep you informed, help you thru this whole process, & treat you like an individual trying to better your life. Dr. Bruderer addressed all complications & risks, & I feel very safe with him. Not to mention, my family feels very safe & confident with me going to him too. rnrnWow! Dr. B was fantastic! His PA & Nurse are the same! What a great team. You can feel 100% safe with Dr. Bruderer. He will not lead you down the wrong path. Their aftercare is extrodinary. I would give Dr. B & his staff a 12 if choosing 1-10. His surgical competence & bedside manner are superb. You've made the right decision if choosing this team!
I really liked Dr. Bruderer the moment I met him. He was easy to talk to and answered all the questions I had. He and his office staff, especially his main nurse, Judy, were just wonderful. Whenever I had a question I just called and asked for her and she either got right on the phone or called me back right away, before and after surgery! Aftercare is very important. You get a big notebook that tells you exactly which foods you have and what to move on to next each week and it helps so much! He covered all the risks of surgery, plus of course the benefits, which in my case far outweighed the risks as far as I was concerned. I would recommend him to anyone!! His surgical competence and bedside manner are both wonderful and I would do this again in a heartbeat!!rnThe one thing I do think that is needed is more bloodwork, more often after surgery, that's my only worry. I did get my own PCP to do some blood work at 3 mos and at 6 mos, but Dr. Bruderer waits till 1 year.
I had traveled to another hospital first, to get information and was so put off, I decided Gastric Bypass was not for me. The presenting surgeon locked himself out of the building before his portion of the presentation. Staff surrounded us making sure wesigned up for MANDITORY support groups . The out of pocked was astronomical. The group became befuddled when asked about FAILURE RATE. Then, I found Dr. Bruderer. I went to the information meeting and was so impressed. Immediately he talked about the risk, the number of patients he had lost! This candor and honety was refreshing. Pre and post surgery the staff was remarkable. I cannot say I was completely free of complications, but the staff was quick to talk to me and refer me to local healthcare and testswhen needed. His bedside manner as awesome! My 2nd post surgery appointment I was so thirilled I could cross my legs. THEY SAVED MY LIFE, and it is my job to continue the process!
I believe that Dr. Bruderer is the best in North Dakota. I truely believe that he saved my life. Him and his staff are well trained and are more of a team then any other office I am been to. They have such a perfect system and know exactly what each persons job is. The follow up appointments were just as involved as the pre-op. They truely wanted to make sure you were okay after the surgery too. I would recommend Dr. Bruderer and his staff to anyone!
My doctor is Dr. Brent Bruderer, from Med Center One, Bismarck ND. My first impression of Dr. Bruderer was, well the moment he walked in the door, I felt so safe, his aura so trusting, beautiful and strong. I just felt so safe by him. He was upfront and was thorough about everything. He didnt beat around the bush about anything. He made sure I was aware of all the risks of surgery. He's my hero. His nursing staff felt like family to me the second I met them. They all were just wonderful. After my surgery Dr. Bruderer and his nurses would come see me to make sure I was healing right and doing okay, and when they did this they entered my room with concerned caring faces and demeanor. They treated me with great concern and genuinely cared about me. I can tell it wasnt just a JOB for them and I wasnt just a paycheck. They are truely there to help and care about me. Everytime I see them at each milestone they proudly smile at me as though its also a milestone for them. I LOVE THEM. I would rate them a 100. My real life living angels.
