<font size="3"font color="white"font face="comic sans MS">Dr. DeWitt was great. He seems very knowledgeable and eager to help. I had a whole page of questions and he answered every one thoroughly. The only thing I wish was that they had some written instructions for pre-op and post-op. It would have been nice to get a list of what medications we need to stop taking before surgery and how long before. Also, a list of what he would like our diet to consist of the week before surgery.
My overall opinion of Dr. DeWitt and his staff is great. I would definitely recommend him and actually already have.</font>

My first impression of Dr Dewitt was wonderful. He is very informative about the surgery, he does not rush the patient, makes you feel like your his only patient of the day. The office staff is very friendly. Dr Dewitt emphasizes alot about diet before and after the surgery. They have now started a seminar for presurgery patients and a support group for postop patients, which is a wonderful tool to the patients .
I would rate Dr Dewitt and Debbie Estep a "11" on a "10" scale.
I am completely happy with my whole hospital stay and care. I have recommeded Dr Dewitt to many of my friends and to other people on obesity.com who are looking for a surgeon.

7-31-03 Dr. DeWitt is the best. So kind and carring. I just love him and his staff.
But he is wans you to follow his rules. Such as walk the halls in the hospital at least 8 times aday. That is not to hard, except for the day of surgery. The get you up before you can hold youe eyes open good. Taht was the worst part of the walk. I think if you deside to see Dr. DeWitt you will be very happy.

Dr. DeWitt seems to very competant at what he does. I feel competance should be what a patient should look for in a doctor. When I went for my consult it was almost two hours before he came in to see me, but it was well worth the wait. He seems to be a very busy doctor. I feel he cares about his patients. My first impression of him was, he looks too young to be a surgeon. The office staff were ok. They seemed to do things in a timely fashion. When I called they answer any questions I had. Dr. DeWitt explains the risks of the surgery as with the risk of any surgery. There can be anything that can go wrong. He explained during the consult that after the surgery you have to do as you are suppose to or things will happen. I like him very much and would reccomend him to anyone. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate him a 10.

I thought Dr. DeWitt knew his job and he put you at ease and didn't make you feel dumb. His office staff that I have met are all very nice and helpful, but his lab technician has alot to say for herself, I told her I had deep rolling veins and she said why did you say that anybody can stick anybody, everybody has veins and proceeded to stick me and roll the needle around trying to find the vein which caused me a lot of discomfort. I was not happy with her at all. So far the lab tech is the only person I found that was not nice and I would not recommend. I prefer a doctor to know his job and for him to have a good bedside manner is icing on the cake that makes the surgery easier especially when you are nervous and a little scared.

07/16/03 - Met with Dr. DeWitt today. I really liked him. He was very thorough and answered my questions, even answering questions I hadn't asked yet or questions I didn't think of asking. He was very informative and explained everything very well. My first impression of him was great!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. DeWitt. His staff was extremely helpful and answered all my questions. They have even been nice during all my phone calls with follow up questions.

DeWitt is funny and nice and not in the least bit condescending. Sometimes doctors don't take the time to speakwith you or address your issues. He sat down with me and we discussed my history and why I wanted surgery and all the possible ramifications.

I know four other people who have had surgery with him and they have been just as positive. I have complete faith in him and his staff.

My first impression of Dr. DeWitt was that he was a very competent surgeon and compassionate person.
I saw him for my post-op recheck today (I will be three weeks post-op on 6/26), and he was as nice as ever.
His office staff was very friendly.

There was nothing that I disliked about him or his office staff.
Future patients should know that not only is he open and honest, but he is very caring.
He emphasizes alot on aftercare. You have to go to a mandatory diet class prior to your surgery. This is so you know what he expects from you.
He does have a structured aftercare plan. He lets you know what and when you can eat it, advises to exercise, and has you to have follow-up visits.
He addressed the risks and complications of surgery very honestly.
I would rate him a 10 out of 10.
His surgical competence and bedside manner are both wonderful.
I would also rate is office staff a 10. His Bariatric Coordinator, Debbie Estep is also a 10. She is a true asset to Carraway Hospital and to Dr. DeWitt.
