My first impression of Dr. Christopher was "My Gosh your young". He blushed. He might be young but I found out he is very concerned about me as a person. He is kind hearted, and has a great sense of humor (which I find comforting). He makes great drawings of the proceedure.
His office staff is very professional and yet they have personality. Poor Susie I must have drove her crazy. I haven't anything unkind to say about Dr.Christopher, but I think Susie needs someone who can either help her or be her back up when she has to out. My appointment was in July and my letter did not reach my insurance company until August 19. Because Susie was out on vacation for one week. And it took her another week to get to my chart. This is my experience, and it is not nessasarily Susie's fault. It's a busy office.
Dr. Christopher was concern about the fact that I do not live in Alabama. He wanted to know who my doctor will be for my future follow ups. He wanted to make sure I understood that there will be days when I might not be able to keep anything down. He hasn't said to much to me about a structured aftercare program, except due to my mild case of sleep apnea he will be sending me to ICU.
He did talk to me about the risks involved in such a surgery. And he was very right up front with the fact that 1 out of 100 die from this surgery or from complication. I already knew this from my back ground search.
Over all I thing Dr. Christopher is a fine man and surgeon. To be honest with you as long as I feel he is competent in his work, he could be a old grumpy bear. Since he isn't a grumpy bear I really like him. Dr. Christopher did my sisters surgery and he has seen her for nearly a year. He has always treated her as if she were his only patient.
I actually have only one concern. He will try to do the surgery Laproscopicly if possible. My concern is the major healing prosses of open surgery. I except the possiblity, I just pray it doesn't have to go that way.

DR Christopher was very helpful in explaining everything about the surgery. Every one at the office was friendly and very helpful. I would reccomend him to anyone thinking about this surgery. It doesnt take months to get an appointment. I feel he is an excellent surgeon and very supportive .

He was very nice and he told me everything I needed to know about the surgery. The staff was very nice as well. They did all the work for the insurance company and all I did is sit back and wait. The only thing I didn't like was where the office was located in the Shelby Medical Hospital. But then when I got there, he told me that they were starting to do surgery at Brookwood Medical Center and asked if I would perfer to go there. I was so relieved. Dr. Christopher was great and I would recommend anyone to him.

My husband and I were both impressed with Dr. Christopher on our first visit. He was very proffesional and courteous. He was also very positive. THe office staff has been incredible. His PA did most of the initial visit and was very thourough. From the nurses to the office manager to the receptionist has been great. In the hospital he was great! He went out and talked with my family, they felt very well informed. His bed side manner was very good. My hospital stay was top notch! I had it done at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster. The entire staff was wonderful. I could not have asked for a better experience. A dietician came in on the second day and went over things with me. They laid out the after care very clearly. It has truly been a blessing all the way through.

I met with Dr. Christopher yesterday (07/01/02). He was very professional and sincere. He drew a diagram for me and told me everything i needed to know, and then some. I am glad he was chosen for me. He was so nice, and didn't rush me. Now I just sit back and wait on my insurance company. Good luck to all!

Dr. Christopher completed my RNY Lap 4/18/2002 and now my huband's 6/06/2002, both complication free. We have both arrived on "the other side" safely and successfully due to Dr. Chrisopher's expertise. While my first impression of Dr. Christopher was that he is a competent surgeon, my "impression" of him had little to do with my decision to select him. It was the fact that he has never had a serious complication or death as a result of this surgery that sold me.

Post-Op, We are very satisfied with our choice of Dr. Christopher. He and Dr. Sherer and Dr. Stahl operate in rooms side by side and check each others work. This man appears to be a "perfectionist". There are many places we hope for perfection in our lives, but I am glad to have had it in the operating room.

Don't be fooled, just because Dr. Christoper
looks like teen-ager!

They office staff is inflexible when it comes to their "policies".It took 9 days to get the letter in the mail. It spent 5 days "in the mail" and took only 32 hours to get approved.

Dr. Christopher was wonderful on the initial consult. He talked with me and my friend at the same time . He was very informative his staff was real pleasant except one nurse the one who took the money. I think they should tell you that your consult cost depends on how long you stay in the room.I think his program after surgery is real good and structured and he is straight forward about the risk. I think he very competent even though he hasnt done many surgeries at this time , he said about 1,000. But they were all a sucess, no lost.I would rate him a 9 right now! ask me after surgery.

He was attentive and explained everything very well. His nurse was very helpful even gave me an article to read while I was waiting on him. He explained all the risks of surgery, the importance of nutrition especially because I plan to have children in a few years.

My first impression of Dr. Christopher was a most pleasant one. He had a kind face with a great bedside manner, relaxing to know he didn't make me feel uncomfortable or nervous. The straight forward conversation and answers to my questions were a relief. He explained to me what complications could occur and if they did what to expect and how to handle them. I trusted him that to me was very important.
The office staff have all been so lovely, that don't make you feel as though your bothering them, when you have 20 questions. I happy with my decision to have Dr. Christipher as my surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone. Although, I haven't had the surgery yet. I feel confident with his surgical ablities.
I will update and let everyone know how everything goes.

Dr. Chritopher was very nice and infomative. He drew the procedure for me and asked me all the questions that i wanted to ask him. He showed alot of interest in my thoughts and my concerns. He made sure that i knew all the risks with surgery. Dr. Christopher had both surgical competence and bedside mannor.
