My first impression was a great one. I felt he understood and was very caring. My Impression is still the same he cares about all of his patients. Well I would have to say as an office staff member myself we are ver dedicated to helping our patients needs and are there when ever they need us. I loved his whole persona. I also felt very comfortable with him. He was extreamly helpful and knowlageable. They should never forget that he was there once him self and he knows how it feels to be over weight. We are the most advanced gastric bypass program in the world our follow up for you is for life and we offer so much support and workshops that our patients can utilize for life. He was very thourough about all aspects of the surgery pluss once you decide you have to go to a 3 hour educational course so you really understand the step ypu are about to take. I would rate him #1 I have so much trust in him. They are both great he has bedside manner as well as surgical competence. He teaches this all over the country. To all kinds of doctors.
Dr. Marema has always struck me as a very caring, and compassionate surgeon. He doesn't sugarcoat anything, and tells you like it is. I think he did a great job and highly recommend him. His Orlando office staff, which is who I've dealt with, is all wonderful. It's great that many were former patients, because they can totally relate to your issues.
Dr. Marema was very supportive and calm. I was very nervous and he put me completely at ease.
I really didn't have many questions at this point due to all the informational sessions,it seemed that every one of my questions had already been answered.
The support system at US.Bariatrics is unbelievable!
Now the wait is on...
It was truly amazing to meet all the staff that had the WLS done themselves.
I am looking forward to being on the lighter side.
My surgery date is April 9, 2000.
Update! Everyone at US. Bariatrics is great! Dr. Diaz is a sweetie as the same with Dr. Perez. And all the support staff is just great too.
I have nothing but positives to share about Dr. Marema. He came highly recommended and I have been very impressed with him. His practice (US Bariatric) is great. All of the doctors and nurses are very thorough and provide every type of on site support imaginable. The monthly support meeting draw a crowd of 200 or more people and are very inspirational. US Bariatric has its own nutritionist, exercise physiologist, chef, spiritual couselor, etc. all free of charge to its patients. (You pay a one-time program fee of $600 prior to surgery and you can utilize any of these services for life). The US Bariatric staff is fantastic. Dr, Marema is an excellent surgeon and I feel he has a good bedside manner. He was very upfront about potential risks. Overall, I was very pleased.
He was great. Really nice, talked to me and explained everything.. Really great guy!
Didn't change, still think he's great, but Dr Diaz is now the one I go to see in Orlando.
The office staff was wonderfull. Never seems to care if you ask a million questions and always there to help. It helped that most of his staff has had this surgery too.
Nothing, he's great. Has had this surgery too. Makes him human.
Future patients should know that he has a wonderfull plan, great information classes and support, both spirtal and medical.
Aftercare is very important to him..
Has a wonderful program. Two areas if you can't make the one in Ft Lauderdale, then the one in Orlando is open for help.
Went to his information class. His class was wonderfull. Passed out books and had his staff to help with any questions. The book that was made by his office helped me during my post op time. I had it to go to if I had any questions or concerns.
Would rate him on a scale from 1 to 10..an 8!
Surgical competence was great. He wasn't there for post op, Dr Diaz did that and he has great bedside manners...He is now my post op Doctor and the one I'll be going to for all checkups..
I have had my pre-op appointment with Dr. Marema, and I am very impressed. He was very gentle and kind, but direct. He let me ask all of the questions I had been keeping a list of for weeks. His answers were very thorough, and he closed by saying "I'm anxious to help you start getting healthier." I was glad to hear that because I am more interested in that than appearance matters. I am in constant pain and drained of energy. I have to get better--soon.
His staff is excellent; many of them have had the procedure--including him. The program is extremely thorough--nutrition, cooking, exercise, surgery prep, information, support sessions and more. I believe he must have modeled it after what he thought was needed based on his experience as a bariatric patient. They are very efficient and courteous. Aftercare is very central to the program. His resource center offers many services to the post-op patient--including spiritual guidance and exercise classes. I am very confident going into the surgery and the program.
Dr. Marema performed my surgery before his practice expanded so much. I have not seen him since January 2001. I had my surgery 11/15/00. At that time he seemed very caring and I felt that I made the right decision to have him perform my surgery. I still feel that way. I have had absolutely zero complications in 2 1/2 years. I am pleased with my results. Going into surgery I weighed 288lbs and now I weigh 135. Dr. Marema's practice has an extensive aftercare program. I never used any of their services as I'm not a "support group" kind of person.
All in all I am pleased with my decision to use Dr. Marema's practice. They did a good job pre-op of informing us of the risks the surgery carried and early post-op Dr. Marema and his group were great. I had to use them very little because I never had complications
I was convinced that I made the right decision. Not only Dr. Marema, but the staff was very supportive. They provide you with so much education that there are no surprises. The pre operative process includes a patient education, nutrition, excersise, and wellness information sessions.
Dr. Marema was suggested to me by several people, including my endocrinologist.
After the surgery, they have classes such as cooking, shopping trips, exercise class, etc. I am looking forward to all the support I will have .
Dr. Marema immediatley put me at ease and let me know that I was important as a patient/person and not just another number to add to his "I've done this many surgeries" list. The staff is SO VERY supportive!! They let me know right away that I was in their "family" for life, and that if I needed help with anything they are there for me. I was very impressed with the whole US Bariatric team as they are very multidisciplinary and treat the whole client not just the pre-op one.
The entire program is very supportive and structered from month pre-op to yrs later.
Dr. Marema has a wonderful sense of humor and he put me at ease right away. He also has the unique vantage point of a physician who has had the surgery himself. He is serious in his treatment for his patients and light hearted about himself and I loved that. The program at U.S. Bariatric is very structured and very successful. I'm glad that God led me to Dr. Marema's capable hands.
