I had originally wanted Dr Marema, when i finally went for the surgery at Mt Sinai i was told that he was no longer affiliated with that hospital and that Dr. Diaz was taking over and had worked with Marema since the start. However, after going through orientation, and being lessed than thrilled with some of the staff and teh construction taking place in the hospital, I found out my first choice was only a hop, skip, and a jump away at Holy Cross Hospital. I called Dr. Marema's office only to be greated by a wonderful staff, who put me directly in contact with Dr Marema, after speaking with him, we made an appointment to meet the next day, and he decided to take me on as a patient, and have my surgery as planned only 3 short days later. He was incredible. His personality, his bedside manner, his staff, everyone was wonderful. I have had many after care visits and feel as though he is extremely knowledgable, attentative, and in general competant and wonderful. I would highly reccomend him to anyone seeking to find the perfect doctor who cares about his patients and teh procedure at hand. Its comforting in itself that he too has undergone this surgery, as well as his wife. I think it makes him even more compassionate than the average joe. Which, for me, means alot.

He has a very pleasant demeanor.
I am more familiar with his office staff than I am with him. I felt that I didn't really make a deep connection with him. I heard a voice inside me scream "Help me Doctor!" but I got really quiet around him almost embarrassed about even being there. Aftercare is a must. There is something practically every day of the week.

Dr. Marema is phenomenal, him and his whole staff including Dr. Perez. Not only they are very caring, they are really knowledgeable. US Bariatric offers the best and most comprehensive after care program for bariatric patients. I would rate them an A+++ facility, staff, and surgeons, besides they have perform more than 6,000 surgeries, so it is needless to say how competent and experienced they are.

I first met Dr. Marema at an information seminar. He came across as very competent, compassionate, passionate and humorous.
When I met him for my pre op, I felt completely comfortable with chosing him to perform my procedure. His staff knows what it takes to get the job done. They work together with the end result in mind. Violet organized everything. Abbe and Justine prepared me for the upcoming nutrition and exercise requirements. Joy gave me insight as to what to expect during my hospital visit. It seems obvious to me that Dr. Marema and his partners allow their staff to do what they do best. Each person's job has significance in the treatment of obesity.
U.S. Bariatrics is a stong advocate for aftercare. The pre op and post op care is one of the main reasons why I chose to seek their care. I also believe that the whole body needs to be treated.
I look forward to my journey. Once the band is in place, the real work begins. I am just at the start of my journey.
The only negative part would be the distance from my home. I live about 3 1/2 hours away, so scheduling follow up may pose some difficulties. Expecially with post op seminars that are held in the evenings. I would suggest a day time series to be offered to those who must travel.

Dr. Krahn left the practice before my surgery, so I ended up having Dr. Marema doing my surgey on Dec 11, in Ft. Lauderdale I had a real bad time in Hospital 26 days

My first impression of him was how nice and sweet he was.. He so funny and makes you feel comfty. I am young person he paid extra attention to my needs and wants. His office has the best people i have every met in a dr office before and that make u feel great about yourself even before the surgery. There was nothing i really didnt like about him he is great guy. Future patients should do everything to doctors office says and to have all the paperwork ready and to listen.. U wouldnt belive all the people who walk in there with nothing that asked for and then got mad at the office staff cause they couldnt do anything for them. He has a strutured aftercare programs and before care program.. that inculdes. class and support groups. Dr. Marema gives a info classes every week and even in there he address the goodside and the badside.. he doesnt leave anything out. out of a possiable 10 dr marema scores a 11.. not only does he do your surgery but he also had the surgery himself him and his wife. Really i had no problem with him or his staff.. just make sure u have EVERYTHING THEY ASK FOR.. and u will be fine

Dr. Marema is absolutely amazing! What an incredible human being and what a brilliant surgeon. Over time, my opinion of him only gets even stronger. He is kind and gentle and willing to answer any questions you may have. I feel with all of my heart that he absolutely loves what he does for the morbidly obese and that each and every one of his patients is equally as important to him.

His team is also amazing: First, I was lucky enough to have another doc from his office doing the rounds at the hospital; Dr. Diaz. Dr. Diaz is also amazing. He came by everyday and made sure I was ok. He was really gentle about removing the JP Drain - I was thankful. He always had a smile on his face too.

The rest of the staff members at US Bariatric are all special in their own way. They are all very professional and very supportive. No question is a stupid question to them.

What I love the most about the program at US Bariatric is that the aftercare program includes everything I need. They even have the vitamins and protein supplements at the offie to give to you - you never have to go anywhere else but there.

About the Pre-op info: They have support group meeting monthly and weekly info sessions. Before you actually go to an appt at the office you attend an info session where they then give you a folder with information they ask you to fill out and send back in order to include you in their database. I strongly recommend you do this step by step and not try to skip a step. This will make the entire process work smoothly for you.

To me, the most important is surgical competence and I feel that at US Bariatric with Dr. Marema or any of his associates you are getting the absolute best! I also feel that bedside manner is extremely importanta and as I said before, the two of the surgeons I have dealt with are absolutely amazing human beings. Most important Dr. M is an incredible surgeon you can be 100% of that.

I WAS AT ONCE PUT COMPLETLY AT EASE...IT WAS, HOWEVER, THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE EVER HAD SURGERY WHERE I MET THE DOCTOR SO CLOSE TO THE ACTUAL DATE...I HAD SEEN HIM AT VARIOUS SUPPORT MEETINGS AND HE WAS BETTER LOOKING IN PERSON AND UP CLOSE!
THE OFFICE STAFF COULD NOT HAVE BEEN KINDER..THEY TOOK GREAT CARE WITH ME..
N/A
THAT IN MY OPION, I FEEL HE IS THE BEST.

AFTERCARE WAS STRESSED MORE BY THE STAFF WITH CLASSES AND A GREAT DEAL OF INFORMATION.
NOT SURE, BUT I DO FEEL THAT THE STAFF IS AVAILABLE FOR JUST ABOUT ANY SITUATION THAT WOULD ARISE.
YES...BIG TIME...
OUT OF A 10? OH, 12

BOTH ARE EQUALLY AS IMPORTANT, BUT TRUTHFULLY, I WOULD RATHER HE BE A GREAT SURGEON..I'LL GET GREAT CARE FROM MY HUSBAND...
