Robert Marema Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. Marema was a gem from my first contact with him. He was and is a warm, caring, concerned, open and candid human being. rnrnWhat I liked most about him was that he had the Rouen Y Bypass suregery himself and was able to share a direct experience with me, rather than just clinical data responses to my questions.rnrnHis approach to bariatric suregry is holistic and he has established his office based on the wholeness model. He has full time staff dedicated to Psychological services, Nutrition, Wellness, Exercise, Research and more. From the recptionist through Dr. Marema, they are all trained and successful at supporting the patient on their journey.rnrnFrom the outset, he was very clear that what he would do for me was 10% of my success and what I would do for myself would be 90%. He stressed using the resources of his team and exercise, exercise and mor exercise.rnrnFor me, the critical component has been use of the Psychological services. I knew that if I did not do the work to identify what prevented me from being successsful with food, that surgery would fail as all other efforts had failed, so when I purchased the surgery, I also purchased 6 months of weekly therapy and now still see the Psychologist once a month to check in and take inventory. It is my insurance policy as i could not have begun to know just how much I was going to change in ways that I could not comprehend at the outset.rnrnI rate Dr. Marema and his team an A+++++. He is an outstanding surgeon and a wonderful human being and he has built a team of similarly capable and great people.

Dr Marema, who also works in Celebration, Florida, is a very talented surgeon and yet he seems to be a humble and a warm person. I like that he had a rny gb himself and doesn't just see an obese patient, but sees the person underneath. The staff at US Bariatric is excellent. They are very friendly, professional and they always follow up promptly. After my surgery, all my concerns were addressed quickly. When I called and explained my concerns to the answering service after hours, Dr Marema was on the phone within a few moments listening to my concerns and answering my questions. I attended a pre-op class about the surgery, pre-op and post-op nutrition and exercise. I recieved a substantial manual to take me through the surgury and post-op. All the possible complications and risks were addressed. Dr Marema was rated as the #1 surgeon in this field in 2003, but his expertise has not compromised his bedside manner. It would be more convenient if the office visits could be scheduled on the same day of support groups for those of us that don't live nearby. I would also like to see a \"closet\" for patients to exchange clothing as we shrink. I give him 10 out of 10 and would recommend him to anyone that wants this surgery without reservation.

All of the staff at US Bariatrics has been very helpful, supportive and polite. Dr. Merema is very professional and has been through gastric bypass himself. I liked that...he knows what it's truley like.

I have only met Dr. Marema once during a seminar I attended to do more research on Gastric Bypass. He was very personable, knowledgeable.rnrnThe staff members I met were also very helpful, answering insurance questions. rnrnThe program they have is very well thought out, from the before care to the surgery and after, I was like wow I didn't realize all this was involved.rnrnAll my questions were answered and some that I hadn't even thought of.rnrnI haven't had the surgery yet thanks to insurance issues, but fighting them now so hopefully I can update this very soon. And believe me if theres anything bad to say, theres no doubt I will post it. (keeping fingers crossed)rnrnrnrnrn

My first Impression of Dr. Marema made me feel very comfortable was honest and he had also had the surgery himself which was a comfort to know that he would understand this surgery from both perspectives. My impression of Dr.Marema has only gotten better with time he is an excellent surgeon and has a great aftercare program. The office staff is always super friendly and willing to go the extra mile for their patients. My overall rating of Dr.Marema is an A++++++

My impression of him as only gotten better since the surgery, he always called me back quickly with any questions I had he is an excellent surgeon and I would reccomend him to anyone considering him for WLS. There was not anything I did not like about him. Being a WLS patient himself I believe makes him an even better Wl surgeon. He was sure to warn me of the risks and inform me of his statistics.
