EXCELLENT FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. MAREMA - I ATTENDED BOTH THE INTRO SESSION AND A NEW BEGINNINGS SUPPORT GROUP MEETING. TIME WILL TELL...HIS STAFF SO FAR IS EXCELLENT THEY HANDLE AN ENORMOUS CASE LOAD- THEREFORE, IT SEEMS WAITING IS A HUGE PART OF THIS GAME. I DECIDED I WANTED THIS SURGERY IN SEPT 6TH...I HAD MY FIRST CLASS NOV 1 AND CAN'T GET PSYCH EVAL WHICH IS NEEDED FOR INSURANCE SUBMITTAL UNTIL DEC 13TH
He is a very funny guy but don't let that think he isn't serious about this. He cares alot for his patient and makes sure u know the facts. Not the pretty ones but all facts before you are ready to do this. He himself has had the surgery and is a firm believer of it. His staff is wonderful and always there to help you with anything. I have just learned that he will no longer be taking Aetna patients after Oct. 19th :(
His staff is the best. They don't baby u and they are there all thime. They care about u heart spirit and mind. Thank God for them.
What a guy!!! I have only seen him
once at the first meeting that I had
attended on June 26, 2000 and My
first impression was "G" he's tall...
From what I could see Dr.Marema seems
to be a wonderful doctor that cares
about who you are and what your
going through. I can't wait until I
meet with him again. Oh ya! another
thing (He sure does drink alot of
water.)
I have now seen Dr. Marema a few other
times in a group setting. I have not
had the chance to speak with him directly
but I do look forward to speaking with him.
From what I have seen I still see him as a
kind and caring person. He has a friendly
face and a nice smile...
I first attended an orientation meeting at Mr. Marema's office. I was impressed to find out that he and his wife had both had the RNY surgery. Also, 95% of his office staff are post op patients.
The orientation meeting was packed with information. I was glad to see how both the advantages, as well as the disadvantages and possible risks of having the surgery, were elaborated.
It was very apparant that Dr. Marema's approach was very strict, yet the wealth of knowledge presented enabled one to make a decision.
His office was very instrumental in clearing all insurance authorizations.
His competence and his bedside manner were most professional and his approach to aftercare is most emphatic and well organized.
His nurse Educator, Deborah is well equipped to provide all the pro's and con's and assisting all patients.
My only regret is that often times return calls are delayed because of patient care days and their busy, busy schedule.
I highly recommend Dr. Robert Marema.
My first impressions of Dr. Marema have been wonderful. I have not yet seen him on a 1 to 1 basis, my pre-op appointment is not until October 30th. My impression of him comes from what I have seen at his support group, as well as from friends that have used him as their surgeon. I am confident that my impression will remain the same after I personally meet/have my surgery with him.
My first impressions of Dr. Marema were very good. Iknew he had surgery himself and felt he knew how I must be feeling.Being a nurse though I was very dissapointed at times with the office staff. I had to schedule everything on my own and I made numerous phone calls which were never returned. Its not that big of a deal about the scheduling due to my nursing backround but to others it might be overwhelming. I must say though I was originally denied and Karen their insurance girl helped me with the appeal process. Also because i waited so long they pushed for my surgery date for the same month I got approved.Iwas also dissapointed because I wanted a panniclectomy and it took them seven months to tell me they dont do them on Diabetics so that was a let down. I thought that due to my age and my newly diagnosed Glucose Intolerance that they would do it. Anyways the plus side the support groups are impowering the lifetime followup is a positive and when I finally met with the staff at my pr-op visit I realized that they were just overwhelmed with patients. Looks like I could help them out being a nurse and an actual patient.
