I love her and her father, they both did my surgery and most of my apps. togheter. They haven't changed. Most of them are helpful, but with any place ther is 1 person who is not so nice. They are both very truthful and helpful. Sometime father will say one thing and daughter wil say another. All of the above. Very much into after care and making sure you take care of yourself, and calling if you have any problems at all. Yes. With much information. 10!! Both Great!!
My impression of Dr mary was a very good one. Very caring, concerning and friendly. She assured me I was in good hands and i do believe her. I have heared nothing but good things about her from others. The office staff was ok. Not very friendly. Just there to do there job really. As far as I noticed things ran pretty smooth so there organization skills are good. The thing I likes about Dr murphy was she was hoenst. She made it appoint to tell you like it was.. This surgery is simply a tool.. And if you do not follow the instructions on changing your lifestyle you WILL gain it back. She made sure i knew this. Both her surgical competence and bedside manner were great!
I met Dr. Mary Murphy on July 13, 2001. She was very easy to talk to and very compassionate. She sat with me until she had answered all my questions and gave me a full description of the surgery. She put a strong emphasis on the aftercare. She has done 40 of these surgeries herself and assisted on 100s. After meeting her, I feel she is very competent and I cannot wait to be on the other side. Just waiting for the dictation to be turned in and my insurance companies final approval.

All I can say about Dr. Mary Murphy is that she is absolutely wonderful. She was so caring in the hospital and came in and sat down when she did her rounds to see how I was doing, she never seemed rushed.
Well as for me I had a very good impression of my beutiful dr, Mary Murphy, she is the best since the first time I met her she was great. she treated me like she already knew me. i love her very much she is great. The staff has treated me very nice everybody there is great. For othr patients they should expet the best from r. Mary you will se she is the best. She explains to you exactly whay the procedure will be there are no surprises. What you should remember is to go to your appointments after surgery even after surgery she still treats you great. She explains the risks and the benefits of this surgery very good. trust her with your life i did and i would want her to be my doctor again if i had to do it over.Dr. Mary Murphy i give her a 110%. Her surgical competence and bedside are both reat. and you know her dad is just as great a met him too and he saw me after surgery with her.Tr
Dr. Mary Murphy is fabulous. My first impression of her was very good and stayed that way, she is friendly and compassionate. She has a family member who had the surgery so she was great with my husband and could relate to his point of view as a family member and his concerns for me. She is also very truthful, she laid out all the risks without sugar-coating them. She emphasized that she was operating on my stomach and not my brain and that it was up to me to make it work. She went over the aftercare steps with me, and was very willing to answer all the questions that I had for as long as it took and did not hurry me out of the office.
The Pacific Bariatric Surgical Group also has a great support system. There are monthly support meetings, and a "buddy" program. The day before surgery, we met with a nutritionist who went over the foods and the aftercare schedule, we met with an anesthesiologist who answered all questions and help ease anxiety, a hospital administrator was there to answer last minute insurance questions, a couple of the post op nurses were there to answer questions, and we all had "before" photos taken.
I would very highly recommend Dr. Mary Murphy to anyone. In fact, my mother is considering the surgery and would come from South Carolina to have it done by Dr. Murphy. She is a very competent surgeon and she has a great bedside manner.
The only negative thing that I experienced, was that the time to get all the required appointments, the authorization letter and then getting the surgery scheduled seemed to take forever, and mine was faster than most. It can take up to 2 months from authorization to get the surgery date.
Lastly, you normally don't see your surgeon after the initial visit until the day of surgery in the pre op room. That can be a bit unnerving, especially if you didn't get a really good feeling from your surgeon at that first visit. Don't be afraid to ask for another appointment or another surgeon if you have any reservations about what is going on.
My first impression of Dr. Mary Murphy was that she was very warm and friendly. She made great eye contact (important to me) she made you feel right at ease with her. She asked if there was anything I needed answered and explained things to me until I was satisfied with the answer and knew the background of the topic. She even took the time after our initial consult and I had finished asking what I wanted to talk to my 7 year old son and answer his questions and even drew a diagram of the surgery for him. She did assure me that her incisions are better than her drawings haha. And explained to my son what I will be able to eat after surgery and for him not to worry about the little ammounts of food, I will do OK, and that mom will need a little extra help for awhile and that this surgery will make me a more active mommy more able to romp and play, do the rollercoasters the whole nine yards... That was very impressive. She also made sure my husband and 3 year old son had all of thier questions answered. :) This surgery involves my entire family and her including them in this step I am sure will help with thier understanding later.
I did receive the packet concerning the diet schedule and lifestyle changes right before and then after surgery the things to do the things to avoid... everything to make this surgery as successful as possible. I will update more as I have had more interaction with her
Dr. Mary Murphy is a very sweet, soft spoken woman who is under 40 (I'm sure) but wears her hair in a "old school marm" style - but somehow it suits her. The office staff was very nice on my one visit there, and I felt I was treated with respect and concern.
Pacific Bariatric has a very structured after care program which includes regular follow-up exams and support group meetings. They also have a "buddy list" which I haven't received yet because it was being updated (as I understand it).
I feel that surgical competence is the most important contribution my surgeon will bring to this great adventure of mine... I hope she'll be a little more open & enthusiastic when I see her in the hospital.
