I injoyed her approch to the surgery at her simnar on june 29th of 2004, and no change ,I have met with her for my consaults and was very pleased with her, very nice and inforamtive ,I had no dislikes about her at all , that she is very good and very carering for the well being and the assistance to help other with their weight loss too.I feel that I will be fine during and after surgery I have alot of support from my family and my husband is behind me one hundred percent , and alot of support from my coworks where I work at alo,for informative when she was asked about the risks I feel that this surgery will benifet me an others wanting to be healthier and hapy with there own self being, 100 percent knowlagable to all that she does for everyone that ask for her to do this procedure,I belive all aplly to her.
My first impression of Dr. Mary was she was straight forward, precise, thorough, and very busy. The office staff was friendly and informative. They know the procedures that patients should follow. They were very helpful. Dr. Mary can be abrupt at times. Future patients should know she is very abrupt and makes you feel very comfortable and tells you exactly what to expect. The aftercare is extremely important and is definitely stressed. It is very structured. You have to exercise, do not snack and eat what you are supposed to eat to be successful. The risks are given during your initial consultation. And there is ample time to ask questions. Dr. Mary answers your questions with thought and advise. I loved her as my surgeon and would definitely recommend her as a surgeon. She has great bedside manner and surgical competence. She knows what she is doing.
When I met Dr. Murphy she seemed so nice and concerned about the way I felt. I can honestly say that Dr. Murphy is my angel sent from above. The office staff were very freindly and always responded back to me on time. The only thing I did not like was that her office is so far away. She does come to Riverside, but not all the time. The Drs. from Pacific Bariatrics take turns. She makes it easy to see the Doctors by providing aftercare services near your area. I would rate her a 10+. I just wish I could see more of her. Another issue is that her staff does not push to see you after your year. I think they should send out reminders for your visits.
Dr. Mary Murphy was the best doctor I have ever had the pleasure of being operated on by. She could tell that I was extremely nervous, she was very patient and calming. She spoke with my mother in detail before they took me in and told her everything that would happen, and promised to call her on her cell phone the minute I was in recovery. She did everything she said she would. Dr. Murphy is serious about after care. She doesn't believe in babying anyone. You get busy as soon as possible after surgery. Ask her any question and she is happy to sit and answer them for you. She likes you to push yourself, and get back into the swing of things. She told me I could get right back on the tredmill the day I left the hospital. She was absolutely the best and if anyone could hand pick a surgeon in San Diego, I would definetely recommend Dr. Mary Murphy. I can't find a single negitive thing to say about Dr. M. Murphy or her surgical staff at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA. I was absolutely scared and alone for the most part, they stepped in and took very good care of me, just as they promised my mother they would. Thank you.

Surgical competence, bedside manner can be worked on...
Dr. "Mary" as she's called around the office as well as the hospital (Scripp's Mercy,San Diego) is a warm, caring person, as well as excellent physician. I felt confident from the moment I met her at my pre-op appointment that my surgery would go well. The office staff and hospital staff were wonderful. They were constantly concerned about my well-being and took great care of me. I would highly recommemd Dr. Murphy to anyone, she truly is the best!
