My first impression of dr. mary was this woman really cares about people like me. She was straight to the point in what my job was going to be before, during, and after surgery. I had to have an active role in this process. I had a very difficult surgery. It took 5 hours insead of the 2 i was told. Dr. mary was at my bedside when i came out of recovery and was very comforting. She truley cares about her patients. The office staff at Pacific Bariatrics was wonderful. If i called with a question i was immedietly put threw to a nurse and was given the answers that i needed. Dr. Mary it a no nonsense dr. She doesn't want to mess with anyone that isn't willing to make a life style change, She had me scared to death during our consult. What can I say I was blessed to get her as my surgeon. The one thing about Dr. Mary is before she will schedule your surgery you have to start an exercise program and start drinking Pro Complex. Which by the way has 55 grams of protein, 4 grams of carbs and 1 gram on sugar. Doesn't taste bad either. And she will be able to tell if you havent started this regimen. After care was emphasized from the first visit. She was very honest about all the risks. She sits down with you and writes all of them out and goes over them one at a time. I would give her a ten on the rating scale. Both her surgical competence and bedside manner were great. She never left the room at the hospital without giving me encouraging words and a hug and peck on the cheek. I probrable wouldn't have made it threw if it werent for Dr. Mary Murphy. I was told i had a very difficult surgery for her to get threw. I came out with 2 JP tubes and one other tube coming from the distal stomach. By the grace of god i didnt get an infection. I had surgery on wed. and was let out on sat. One thing she said was there comes a time were infection wise i would be better off at home than in the hospital. Most people get infections while in the hospital.

I have met Mary Murphy in orientation. So far I think she is an excellent surgen and has the best concern on her patients at hand. I am flying to San Deigo for pre-op meeting on Monday. I will write more after.

My first impression was she was very rushed. My impression changed some after talking to her and she was kind enough to answer some of my questions. The office staff is for the most part great, there are a few front office girls that are a little short tempered but mainly when calling the office. There wasn't much that I didn't like about her. For future patients know that she is very kind and caring and really enjoys what she does, helping to change our lives forever. After care was always stressed. I am too new to know too much about the aftercare structure. Yes, she did address the risks. I rate her as a very good surgeon but always short on time. She cares but she is trying to help so many people that she runs short of time often. I think both her surgical competence and bedside manner were both great!

Dr. Murphy seems very personable. She took lots of time meeting with me during the surgery consultation and diagrammed the actual surgery for me. She answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable. I feel very confident being in her care.

My first impression was that she was caring and Kind.

My impression of her has not changed since I met with Dr. Murphy.

Her staff has been friendly and helpful.

After care is a very crutial part of recovery and success according to Dr. Murphy.

There is a very structured program that all of Dr. Murphy's patients follow after surgery.

She is very upfront about all the risks of surgery and will let you know if she doesnt think you might be a candidate.

So far, I would rate Dr. Murphy very high, say a 8 out of 10.

My post-op rating of Dr. Murphy still is very high, I would have to give her a 10!

Dr. Mary Murphy is the surgeon I'm scheduled to see for my initial consult on October 21. She is the newest surgeon at Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego, CA. Her father was one of the founding fathers of this surgical center and still practices there. I don't think she has been performing wls on her own for very long -- maybe 2 years at the most --but assisted her father prior to that. I've only heard from a couple of people who had her as their surgeon but they were happy with her work (one is a nurse). Dr. Mary only does the open RNY surgery; I was hoping to have lap surgery but am trusting God to put me with the right surgeon.

Dr. Mary made the presentation at the seminar I attended. My overall impression of her is positive. I'll probably have more to tell after my consult.

My first impression of Dr. Mary Murphy was that of an impish, free spirited dynamo. As we sat and discussed the surgery, procedure, expectations, complications and short and long term goals, I realized how passionate and caring she was about her profession and her patients. Every question I asked she never once made me feel as if she had answered that question a thousand times before. She took the time to make sure I understood everything and she made my husband a part of the process not an outsider. In my opinion Pacific Bariatrics is a very well oiled machine. I don't mean to imply that I was a part of a tedious process but that everyone was kind, considerate, knew their jobs and made my experience very easy and uncomplicated. They took care of me, my family and all the paperwork for the insurance. I would highly recommend them to anyone. What I took away with me after meeting Dr. Mary Murphy was that I could put my life in her hands and know that I had all the confidence in the world in her, her skills and her tallent. As part of the medical profession myself I asked her a very personal question for myself, she took her time, put aside the paperwork and looked me in the eye and answered me with all the honesty a person can have, for that I will be forever greatful.

She was very nice and very easy to talk to. I would rate her as an 10+. She wants you to start excersing now, quit drinking soda and start taking vitamins. He office staff in not that friendly but not rude at all. I would recommend her to anyone that is thinking about WLS.

Dr. Mary as she is called is such a great person. She is very honest and realy expects her patients to do well. Her whole staff was great. I would rate Dr, Mary a very big 10. Dr. Mary meets and exceeds all of my expectations for a surgeon. The Most negative thing I can honestly say about The care I received is that I didnt get to meet with her more before surgery.

Dr. Mary Murphy was very nice. However I did have to wait over an hour after my appt. to see her. It was the last appt. of the day so when I left there was nobody in the office and the lights were out. I had to feel my way to the door!!!! LoL She was very informative and to the point, very personable.

Hello everyone!!! I would recommend Dr. Mary Murphy to EVERYONE!!! She is the absolute best. SOOOOOOO good to her patients, always returns her calls, very caring and understanding. I will never forget her!!!
