Mary Murphy Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I met with Dr. Mary Murphy on 11/4/03. My impression of Dr. Mary Murphy is that she is very dedicated and professional. During my consultation of her I was very nervous and she was so very sweet. She explained everything in detail and told me exactly what she needed me to do. The last thing she told me "Don't worry, we will take care of you". So when I walked out of her office I was more convinced and determined to have this surgery.

I just loved Dr. Murphy from the moment she walked in. She immediately made me feel comfortalbe and at ease. She obviously had read my file because she was so prepared and familiar with my history and current circumstance. She spent quite a bit of time with me and my roommate, making sure we understood exactly the procedure, what I needed to do before the surgery and what to do and expect after the surgery. After meeting with Dr. Murphy, I have every confidence that this is the right decision for me and that I have the best surgeon possible. In addition, the entire staff at Pacific Bariatric have been terrific.

I enjoyed meeting Dr. Mary Murphy. She was very pleasant and easy to talk with. She outlined the whole procedure to myself and my friend who will be going down to San Diego with me for the surgery.

The office staff at Pacific Bariatrics was very pleasant also and gets you in quickly.

Dr. Mary Murphy stressed the importance of exercise before and after surgery.

So far I would rate Dr. Mary Murphy a 10. I have not heard anything bad about her or her surgical techniques.

My first impression was made at the intro seminar. I liked her forthrightness enough to request her as my surgeon. My opinion only got better as time went on.

While the office staff and appointments had good spots and rough ones, when crunch time came all that became unimportant.

I had complications through no fault of anyone and when I was in trouble, Dr Mary, the Anesthesiologist, the Nurses and everyone else involved came through for me. I got more than my share of care and attention. They were great. I owe my life to Dr Mary and the rest of the team.

I was informed of the risks and responsibilities before the surgery. I expect that if I follow the after care plan, I will get the same great treatment and have wonderful results.

Overall I would rate Dr Mary as the best choice anyone could make in a surgeon and her support team is just as competant and caring.

Since my surgeon was sick Dr. Mary graciously stepped in and performed my surgery. She is great and treats everyone as if they are the only patient she has!!

DR MARY MURPHY IS A VERY NICE AND ENERGETIC PERSON. I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE LIKES HER, I HAD MY CONSULATION ON AUG 25TH. I CAME TO MY APPT WITH A NOTEBOOK ON MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO THIS SURGERY AND MY JOURNAL. SHE DIDNT CARE TO SEE ANY OF IT. I WORK OUT AT CURVES 3 TIMES A WEEK AND SHE WANTED ME TO GO MORE OR HAVE OTHER EXERCISE. I HAD LOST 8 INCHES ON CURVES AND 20 POUNDS SINCE I STARTED THIS, I WAS DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I WAS TOLD TO TAKE MY QUESTIONS WITH ME AND I THOUGHT A CONSULTATION WAS A TIME WHERE MY QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED. WHEN I TOLD HER I HAD QUESTIONS AFTER THE 15-20 MIN CONSULTATION SHE SAID TO CALL THE OFFICE. THIS IS MY LIFE AND I JUST THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE MORE TO THE CONSULTATION. IT MAY HAVE JUST BEEN A BUSY DAY. AND POSSIBLY SHE WAS RUSHED TO SEE ALL OF HER PATIENTS. I THINK SHE WILL BE THERE FOR ME IN SURGERY. SOMETIMES YOU EXPECT MORE DO TO THE ME FACTOR BUT THEY DO THOUSANDS OF SURGERIES AND HAVE TO MAKE SURE THEY GET TO THE CORE OF THE MATTER IN THE CONSULTATION. I STILL WANT HER TO BE MY DOCTOR BECAUSE SHE IS SO POSITIVE AND THAT IS A VERY GOOD THING.

I found Dr. Mary Murphy to be a very caring and direct doctor. She made sure I knew what the risks of the surgery were, going over each one, and asked me if I still wanted to do it. She told me she would take good care of me and I believe her. Her office staff were very professional and kind. They answered any and all questions I had. I would tell future patients when they go down for their consultation appts. to not worry if your appt. is not on time. Dr. Mary is very busy and sometimes is coming straight from surgery to a consultation. At my consultation I was given information about the after care phase of the surgery. Dr. Mary went over these papers with me and told me there would be more information at my pre-op meeting at the hospital. She's willing to answer questions. In the papers I was given there was a day to day of what I was to eat then a week to week of what to add and when. I would rate Dr. Mary, on a scale of 1-10 with 10 as the highest rating, a 9. I haven't had my surgery as of yet so I can't comment on her bedside manner but I feel she is VERY competent.

My first of Dr. Mary is a really good one.

Dr. Mary was extremely sweet and kind at my first meeting. She made me feel very safe and assured me that I would be in good hands. The office visit was great. She answered all of my questions before I even had a chance to ask them. She's very thero.

Dr. Mary is a firm believer in follow-up, follow though, and more follow-up. She wants you to be as successful as you can possibley be.

Overall, with the information that she gave me about the surgery from start to finish, she gave me a thero explaination of everything. I love Dr. Mary.

I really liked Mary Murphy. She put me at ease right away. Her office staff was ok. I have had problems with my patient coordinator not calling me at the number I would leave on her voice mail. I think that anyone who has her needs to make sure they continually check up with the office staff to make sure their paperwork is going to the correct places. We did have some problems with her not getting her paperwork in on time. During our consultation she went through all of the risks and possible complications but ended the meeting with " we will take good care of you"
