Dr. Warnock is a very caring doctor. He takes the time to explain everything to you about the surgery. His staff is very professional and treats everybody very profesionally. Dr. Warnock tells you what he expects from you before and after surgery and expects you to do it. Dr. Warnock has a great bedside manner and you can tell that he really cares about his patients.
FIRST CONSULTATION: My first impression of Dr. W was that he was very gentle and knowlegable. That has not changed yet over time. His office staff is also knowlegable and very helpful. I liked the fact that he was attentive to detail and explained things well. His best characteristic was that he was comforting and reassuring throughout my consultation. I haven't found anything I don't like yet.
Future patients should know that he may make you lose weight and/or start and exercise program before you get a surgery date (he did require that of me). His aftercare program is very externsive and he emphasizes that his patients are his patients for life.
I'm not far enough along to know about long term structured aftercare. He definately addresses the risks of surgery in the first consultation.
Overall, I would rate him excellent, I really think he is a wonderful doctor.
SECOND CONSULTATION: When I saw him at the second consulation I had not lost the weight he had requested for a surgery date due to the fact that I had a back injury and had to take steroids. He was EXTREMELY understanding. He asked about my compliance with the other things we had discussed and complimented the progress I had made. Since I had lost about half the weight, he set a surgery date!!!!! I am scheduled for surgery 1/21/05.
PHONE CONSULTATION 1/11/05: I have been working so very hard to lose the remainder of the weight that I am supposed to lose. For the last three weeks I have been on a mostly liquid diet and have lost little weight. My PCP told me it was because of a med he had me on. I called Dr. W and he DID NOT cancel surgery but put me on a liquid diet.
OFFICE STAFF: I have dealt extensively with his office staff and found them to be very competent, friendly, timely and professional.
AFTERCARE: Dr. W believes that once you are his patient and he does a WLS you are his patient forever. He emphasizes the fact that there are changes to our bodies that will need to be monitored/dealt with for the rest of our lives. His aftercare program is definately structured, well thought out and thorough.
RISKS OF SURGERY were addressed indivdually at the first consultation and then in writing in preop materials given to all patients when surgery is scheduled.
I could not think of a higher way to rate Dr. W. He is a superior doctor.
The only negative I would have to say would be that he is very busy and that there is often quite a wait to get in to see him when you have an appointment.
I loved Dr. Warnock from the beginning. Unlike other doctors, he did not scold me for my weight, but instead gave me hope. His office staff was also very helpful. He places emphasis on protein and vitamin intake post op. He also offers support group meetings each month. His bedside manner is the best - and I am very fond of him to this day!
I'm just starting my journey and thus far have had good interaction with Dr Warnock and staff. My consultation was mid December and a month later have a surgery date. Dr Warnock was very thorough during the consultation. I have researched wls for 4 years and monitored 20 people that have had the surgery and had little questions or concerns but he took the time to detail out the entire surgery and aftercare program to ensure he knew that I understood. He was very upfront about the possiblity of complications, death, and a complete change of life. Never to be the same again--life as I've known it. He wanted to make sure I was not jumping into something I was not 100% sold on. He stressed over and over again that the surgey is not magic it was only a tool. We still have to watch what we eat and exercise. I am afraid that Dr Warnock is so busy that he may wear himself out but never did he give me the impression that I was just another paycheck.
Dr. Warnock is a very peacful, God-fearing, patient, and caring man. I met him for the first time at my consult and I was impressed. Everything good that I'd heard about him is 100% true. I waited for 5 hrs to have my consult, due to an emergency, and although it was 7:10pm he still returned to his office, professionally dressed, and gave my husband and me all the time we needed to put us at ease about my having this procedure. He never tried to rush us, he answered all of our questions, as well as thoroughly explained the procedure, what my commitment would entail, and all possible complications. I would recommend him to anyone, this man is awsome. On a scale of 1-10 he is a 20!
When I met Dr. Warnock I was very nervous, could not stop shaking. But it did not take long for him to put me at ease. From everyone I know I have heard nothing but very good things about him.All I can say isthat I feel very comfortable with my desicion to have him as my surgeon. So far his staff is being very helpful to me and nice. Dr. Warnock is a very serious surgeon. He tells you the way it will be and what he excpects from you. All of this is just my opinon of him,not everyone has the same feelings.
Dr. Warnock and his staff were wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!He was very willing to explain the surgery, risks, and how important the after care is. He makes you feel as if you are important instead of just another FAT person. Kim and Debbie are wonderful too and full of patience!!!!Thankyou and kudos to all of them.
Dr. Warnock really cares about his patience and shows it well in his bedside manner. He put me and my wife at ease on our very first visit. He is a true man of God who believes in what he does and gives God the glory for his accomplishments in others. He is loved all of his patients that I have met. My impression has never changed about him. His staff is wonderful, helping and caring. Though some have complained about the waiting time in his office, I have yet to experience this. Either, they are getting better at scheduling patients or I just lucked out on every visit. The little time I did have to wait was pleasantly spent talking with other patients and sharing experiences/information. His aftercare program is not a strict regime, but rather a booklet of guidelines. He does provide his home phone to his patients and encourages everyone to call any time they need to.
My first meeting with Dr. Warnock was full of wonderful advice and helpful info. He was a great help all the way through. I have been very pleased with him and his office staff. I was very pleased with his availability at all times. He was even there in the middle of the night when I needed help. I am two years out and am doing great. I have had a tummy tuck and wish I could have surgery to fix my upper arms. The support group with Dr. Warnock meets every month and the info. is very helpful.
He is very genuine, very caring, very concerned. His office staff is very professiona.
He strongly emphasizes aftercare, and that you are ultimately responsible for the success of the surgery, if you don't follow the afercare instructions.
He was matter of fact with the risks of surgery, telling my husband and I all the risk factors, and he didn't sugar coat any of it.
He's a wonderfully caring doctor.
